Live from okw day 2

We also loved OKW. Looking forward to staying there again in December!

Hey just wanted to say that if you ever stay in a room with a kitchen it's always a good idea to order groceries from www.gardengrocer.com. It saves tons of money on breakfast and lunch. We sometimes do a few dinners too.

Not if you have a car. We prefer to do our own shopping. I'm a label reader.

Can't wait to be enjoying OKW again next week too. We arrive on Tuesday around noon.

I'm sorry to hear the South Point area is being worked on now. That probably means we wont be getting a room there. Oh well, I like most every part of OKW, so not to worry. I think I missed what building you were in. Glad to hear your M&FIL liked it too. OKW has the best rooms around! We love the old Florida feeling there too.

How are the crowds? I understand it has been hot down there, but frankly, I'm looking forward to thawing out! We're still wearing jackets around here! I can't wait to don a pair of shorts and sandals!:cool1:

We just returned on Monday night from a weekend at OKW. We were in building 56 and loved it (we usually request close to HH due to my DH with a bad knee but has since had a knee replacement so location is not as important now). The quiet pool was right outside our room, which, wasn't as quiet as I expected it to be! (young kids having squirt gun fights and doing cannon balls into the pool, splashing all about)! LOL! I did feel bad for some of the older guests but it did not bother me as much as it appeared to bother them.

Sad to hear that some of the staff at OKW have had their hours/days cut due to the economy. These staff members are like family to us and we look forward to seeing them on all of our OKW trips......only now, not as much as their hours have been cut.

The resort did not seem to be very busy on Friday and Saturday but it did pick up on Sunday with lots of people checking in.

Our room was clean and the thermostat needed to be repaired (stuck on 96 degrees!!!) and that was done very quickly!! The grounds were clean and beautiful as always. Looks like some pruning of the trees had been done, allowing better visibility from the balcony.

The weekend getaway was a tease!! I can't wait to head back for 16 days this summer!!!!

(On another note..........we ate at the new T REx restaurant.......I got a chicken sandwich and found a long red hair in it! (I am a brunette and my girls are also)!! Of course, I sent it back and lost my appetite for the rest of the night. I don't know if I could go back there any time soon!!!)

Sounds like you're having a nice trip! You're making me hungry with your description of Le Cellier. That place is so good! Enjoy the rest of your vacation, and thanks for sharing!

First the south point area is open and busy!!!! Second the beds are fine to me!!! I am not particularly find of hard beds so we must not have one. So request building 12!!!:lmao:

Today was MK day!!! We were going to DTD with lunch reservations at Rainforest Cafe but feared a short day at MK would make all grumpy so we spent the day there and its a good thing!!! It was HOT today!!I am not fond of the heat but of course here who cares!!! We started out with DD5 and DHs fav BTMR and the rest of us went to the Country Bears then we went to IASW and then to lunch at Columbia Harbour House - this was a first for us and we really enjoyed it. I had Fish and fries and they were great - DH and DDs had chicken and fries and DFIL & DMIL had the fish & fries also. Then we went on to Pooh ride, ice cream break and of course a soaking in toon town at Donald's!! Then tea cups, philharmagic and the parade - which is very similiar to the Dreams Come True Parade with some cast members stopping to dance, some of the same character floats and overall VERY disappointing.

We then did 2 trips on Buzz with a break at the Laugh Floor in between and then back to the room for dinner of meatloaf, tater tots and corn on the cob. We have avoided discussing out leaving tomorrow as DD5 overheard us saying something about flying and she freaked out crying she never wants to leave because MK is her favorite place in the WHOLE WORLD:cutie:!!! ME TOO!!!!!!!!

Here is to packing quickly and going for more fun in the morning!!!

We stayed in Bldg 12 and the beds were great, but in Jan we stayed in bldg 13 and the beds were terrible. They were so hard that no one slept well the first night. We got foam mattress pads from housekeeping and then slept better, but I had three on our king bed and we had two on each queen bed. Not sure if there were new beds in bldg 13. I hope not.

Love your trip report. I noticed you have done some dinner in the villa and mentioned a crock pot. Do you have an Owner's Locker? How big is the crock pot? Our family rather eat in the room before heading out for the evening, saves money and time ;)

Yes we have an owners locker and I have a four qt crock pot in it. I bought one of the taller round ones (versus oval) with a carry bag to protect it. We enjoy eating in the villa for dinner and having luch or brunch in the parks.

Well yesterday was our last day in the best place on Earth and we avoided telling DDs we were leaving until the bellman came for the bags and then the tears began!!:sad2:

I packed as quickly as I could and we lwft the room by about 9am to go to DTD and play at Lego land for a little bit. That did help some!!

Overall we LOVED having a rental car - this was our first try. But we will use the buses for MK due to the transfer at TTC. All other parks it was great and the trams were there waiting every time.

OKW was awesome - I can see why that balcony spoils people and the room size oh and my favorite - the full size washer and dryer!!!

It was hotter this week than our past trip at the same time of year - near 90 everyday and sunny - with very little cloud cover!! DD5 woke up this morning asking if we can go back tomorrow. Oh how I wish.....................

So now we have to plan our Nov trip with friends!!!:banana:

What a wonderful trip you had! Disney is magical but even more so with little ones! Like you, the only way to get over a Disney vacation is to start planning the next one!

Thanks for your trip report!

We're looking to booking in November - anyone have any idea how the redecorating will go? Are they almost finished? We are 70 and 71, and kind of like the top floor with no one walking on our heads (My thing) but wanted to make sure plenty of 1 bedrooms will be available. We can always go back to SSR, but after all these glorious posts, and a few photo's, would love to try OKW. It looks like a beautiful, restful getaway after a day in the parks!!
