Let me add a bit of a trip report right here on this thread.
The Players: Linda and Lisa--
DVC owners. Stayed in a studio on points. Karen, Robin, Nina and Barbara....good friends...they stayed in a 2 BR on the member cash discount.
We were there Friday 3/27-Monday 3/30
We arrived on Friday afternoon after having driven down from Asheville, NC> WE stopped at the Tanger outlets for some shopping. We checked in right at 4 pm and our rooms were ready and waiting. We are always happy with our little studios (we like to maximize the use of our points!) and our friends were more than pleased with their dedicated 2 BR. We spent some time settling in and headed over to the Sea Shack for dinner.
If you have never been to the Sea Shack, you NEED to head on over for a meal. Nothing fancy, but some of the best seafood ever. You need to follow the rules, however and expect there to be a long line. You need to look at the board and be prepared to order quickly and efficiently....know how you want your seafood prepared and what sides you want. Then you get your drink. Then, and only then may you take a table...if there is one available. Go, you won't be disappointed.
After dinner we went back to the condo for games and R&R.
Saturday morning we slept in a bit We then took a short walk around the resort and of course hit the gift shop. After that we headed over to Signe's for lunch. Again, this is another local favorite. This bakery and cafe is known for its fresh salads and baked goods. We all had a wonderful meal and left stuffed. After lunch we headed on over to the beach for awhile. Our friends were very impressed with the beautiful beach house and we had a wonderful time walking on the beach.
The weather was beginning to look a bit iffy so we headed back to the condo, just in time for it to begin raining....hard. As the afternoon turned into evening the storm progressed into a major event with tornado warnings for the entire area. We were getting hungry and didn't have supplies to cook in, so we decided to just stay nearby the resort for dinner. We headed over to Scott's. Once again we had a fantastic seafood meal. This restaurant is significantly more upscale than the Sea Shack and the prices reflect it. They do offer a 10% discount for DVC members however. During the meal there was a LOUD clap of thunder accompanied by a bright V shaped bolt of lightning. Robin screamed "S**T!!!" and clapped her hand over her mouth. The entire restaurant exploded in laughter which really helped to lighten the tension that everyone was feeling due to the storm. We swam back to the hotel and waded through deep puddles to our condo for a wonderful night of conversation and laughter.
Sunday dawned bright and beautiful. We spent some time just relaxing at the resort and then headed over to Harbortown for lunch. There is a $5 per car fee to enter the Sea Pines resort, but worth it. It is SO beautiful. We had lunch at the Quarterdeck, which is part of the Waterfront Cafe. Once again....seafood on the menu! We dined outside and seafood always tastes better outdoors. Sunday afternoon was spent by the pool....once again laughing all the way.
Dinner on Sunday was at Parrot Cove...in the Shelter Cove Shops near the resort. Of all the meals we had this was the one I would have to say was the biggest disappointment. It was good, but not as good as the other meals we had. There was an air of disarray about the restaurant and a bit of an over casual attitude with the servers. That being said however...my flounder tasted great! Once again, Sunday night brought lots of great conversation and relaxation.
Monday was time to head home. We all agreed that Hilton Head is a magical place and vowed to come back. I am now working on a way to get us there for Christmas.
