Live from Hilton Head (March 29-April 3) (or as long as the wi-fi connection is good)

It rained most of last night, but we woke to a beautiful sunny morning. Of course it would be that way for us to leave, but I will say that it is a lot easier to pack the car when it's NOT raining than when it is!

We had breakfast and then packed up to leave. One thing I wish we had was bigger plastic bags for the trash; I cannot believe how much trash we had when we were packing up this morning! The bags in the kitchen can are really small. We filled two of them and then as I was looking for a better way to take our trash out, I remembered we had some paper bags from the grocery store that we were able to use for the rest. One other thing we were wondering about that we couldn't find is a place to put recyclables - which is why we had some much "trash" to go out this morning (empty milk jugs, etc.).

There were several other families leaving today, which didn't surprise me because it's Friday and points go up for the weekend. But for those who are staying this weekend, it is supposed to be absolutely beautiful.

And that's it. We left from the resort, stopped at Barnes and Noble for DS#2 to spend his Christmas money that he just got from his uncle, and at the Nike Outlet store for DH to get some new socks and running shorts.

Final thoughts -- If you've not considered Hilton Head for a vacation destination, it's a good place to visit. It's a relaxing place to be and the Disney touch is definitely in full force. The CMs are wonderful, the recreation staff is great with the children (and families) and there is nothing in a hurry. We will definitely keep HHI in our rotation of DVC resorts to stay at. And we especially loved having the time with my parents with us; having the 2BR (our first time in a 2BR) really spoiled us even with six people in the unit; we'll likely consider how to use our points even at WDW for a 2BR unit!

Thanks again for all your kind comments.

Cindy,
You are a very good story teller. Thanks for all the enjoyable trip posts. :thumbsup2

As to the recycling, it is the one thing I am really disappointed with at HHI. They don't recycle. I asked mousekeeping last year and they said there was no place to send it, that the only recycler on the island went out of business a couple years ago. I find that hard to believe, but that is what they said. Seems really irresponsible the HHI municipalities to not be funding a program.

Have a safe trip home :goodvibes

Your TR was a joy to read! Thanks so much for taking the time to post the beautiful pictures-glad it was such a nice vacation for you and your family-what alot of great memories for all of you! :)

It was because of the Disney HHI resort that we joined the DVC to begin with 11 years ago. Don't get me wrong we love WDW but HHI has a very special place in all of our hearts. We have gone there with just my DH and DD. We have taken my parents with the 3 of us which was wonderful. I have taken my DB and DSIL with the 3 of us. The truth is my entire family has come to LOVE HHI.

This TR has been fabulous and I truly enjoyed every post. Guess that is why I am going back to my beloved HHI in Sept of this year after we get off the Members cruise.

Can't wait and dreaming of my s'mores right now.....

Now that we're home, we have had a chance to miss being at HHI. We are relaxed from the week, and we came home with clean laundry. Gotta love having a washer and dryer.

I hope other DISers will post trip reports from HHI. We love to re-live our trips.

I am glad I found your TR at HHI.
We will be there for the first time this June.
We enjoyed reading all you had to say.
:cool1:

Nice trip report! I really appreciated all the pictures.

So DH was comfortable in the rocking chair on the balcony with his book.

Absolutely comfortable on the balcony in the rocking chair with his book (sounds like the Clue mystery being solved -- Mrs. Peacock, in the dining room, with the rope...)

We were in building 15 and had some foot traffic but not a lot. Mostly when it was nearing 10 o'clock and time for the shuttle to come by. So it was peaceful on the balcony. I should note that whenever we cruise, DH spends a good portion of his shipboard time in the chair on the balcony reading his book :)

We were glad we didn't end up getting bikes even though we had planned to since the weather wasn't conducive to bike riding. If we go again and have nice enough weather, though, we'll probably get them.

Just found this wonderful TR via the HHI Adoration & Info '09 thread.
Great report! Lots of detail, good pics & tips.:thumbsup2

We were at HHI the last week of February and enjoyed it tremendously. Your report brought back some wonderful memories for DH (El Nebuloso) & I.

Thanks for all your good work!

Jean
