Live from Disney! (with pics)

OH NO! Only 5 minutes left on your internet service? :earseek:

What a bummer! I have really been enjoying your trip reports! My cruise
is a year away and this is killing me!!!!!

Karen

After reading this report I may just have to consider a cruise for our 2007 vacation. Thanks for taking time out of your vacation to post this wonderful report!

Cass and Rob should consider opening a PayPal acct and we can sent them money to buy more internet minutes...

Hello DISers!

Our last day on the beautiful ship…sigh…Castaway Cay!!!
day17-1.jpg

We docked around 9am and were cleared by 9:30 am.
We got some breakfast at Topsiders then headed down to the gangway on deck 1 to head to the beautiful Castaway Cay!

We took some video and photos then took the tram to Serenity Bay. Yesterday we were told to expect some seaweed but it was still so shocking just how MUCH seaweed there was! You could see the track from the vehicles that cleared what they could but there was so much! It felt pretty gross on the feet to walk across. The water was very choppy and very shallow. I walked all the way out but the water never went above my waist. The whole day I only saw one fish! It was too hard to snorkel so we ended up grabbing our hammock, same one as last year and snuggled together for about 2 hours. THAT was heavenly!!! Rob was looking forward to that for 3 years now!

We went back to the main area and had some lunch at Cookie’s BBQ, which was quite delicious! Rob found some ice cream of course, and yes he ate both of those, I am not a huge sweet lover so he got two for him LOL!!!

day17-13.jpg

The crew had been working very hard to clean up the family beach and they did a fabulous job because it looked great!
day17-12.jpg

You could see a LOT of damage to the plants and trees from the hurricane force winds they sustained for several hours. A lot of the foliage was brown and dead. The island was still gorgeous though and we loved being there. We walked back to the ship to get changed and then ashore again for our 3:30 pm parasailing. It ended up being cancelled since it was too windy…crap! First the Rays were cancelled on us and now the parasailing! Oh well, c’est la vie! Next time we cruise in December 

We managed to find Chip & Dale and then back on board to start packing (aaawwww).

Rob is pointing to our room in this photo.

We watched us sail away from our verandah and then did some last minute shopping. Got some snacks from Plutos one last time as well as one last ice cream for Rob and then watched the gorgeous sunset from our verandah. Finished packing up and then wrote up my trip report.

We had our final dinner in Lumieres and said good-bye to our servers and then watched the Final Farewell Kiss Good night Show in the Atrium.

Just so you know, this vacation is three weeks long. It cost us $700 each just to fly to Orlando so we try to make it worth the trip. Also, it’s been two years since we’ve been on vacation and it will be many many years before we come back to Orlando/Magic since we both agree that we don’t want to bring a toddler to WDW and DCL. It’s just too much work! Kudos to all you parents out there who travel with small children!!! I don’t know how you do it! So…three weeks sounded good to us!

I will have to post tomorrow about today since this has been our worst day so far. We are both very sick now and we only had about ONE HOUR of sleep so I am about to pass out but I know you all wanted to hear about CC.

Thank you all for your responses! We are having a grand time reading all your replies, they really give us a chuckle sometimes! LOL!

Those who PM’d me, I will get back to you tomorrow, sorry we are burnt today. The pin was there though, the Goofy one, Rob got two of them if you can’t get one yourself.

TTFN!

Thanks again for the great TR Cass and Rob, loved seeing the pics of you on CC!!! Feel better real soon!!!

WOW!!! What a great report and pics! And what a dedicated reporter we have!! Cass even writes when she's dead tired because she knows we want to hear about it! Thanks and Thanks again!

Here's some good wishes that you both feel better real soon so you can enjoy your last days of vacation.

:flower:

Thanks so much for the report! Great as usual. Love your pics. Hope you feel better  soon! :goodvibes

Good to hear from you guys again. Thanks for the CC report.

Now go get some rest!

Thanks for the replies everyone, we really appreciate it. It is nice to end the day reading all your replies and having you appreciate the time away Cass takes to write and post these TR's all up. What a great bunch you are!

As you already know, we didn't get any extra minutes yesterday and haven't been online till tonight. We're at the Royal Pacific Resort at Universal and Cass says this is now her favorite hotel to be at. Unfortunately, I have given her my cold and the A/C made me sick again last night, we barely slept and we both got less than an hour's sleep. With customs being at 6am, it sure made for a long day.
Cass will be posting more stuff later tomorrow sometime when she's up to it, she is now sleeping away in the king size bed with her 4 feather pillows. She is very sick, this is the first time I've known her in 9.5yrs to have lost her voice when she is sick. We must have looked like the walking dead at IOA & Universal; heck we could have been great extra's for HHN15 (Halloween Horror Nights 15)!

I've got a bit more energy now with some food in me, I'll be doing some quick laundry and getting her a RPR bath robe since she loved it so much the first time and room service didn't leave one in the room for us this time. You will actually know this before she does since she won't see it till tomorrow morning.
Cass even loves the chairs that are used for the desk and wants to take one home, but I doubt that with the way our luggage is going!

We both have a bunch of things to recommend to DCL about the cruise and a few critiques; but overall the experience was very positive and I have to hand it to the Disney crew on CC for doing a PHENOMENAL job in cleaning up the Island. The poor island has been hit so many times since our trip in 2002 that seeing that it is remotely the same is a small miracle.
At least we got to have our hammock for a bit, that was the highlight of my day; the sunburnt feet was not so much. BTW: The BBQ chicken on CC for lunch was AWESOME, kudos to the chefs for cooking that up, I loved it!

BTW: We are no more celebrities than any of you here on the DIS, though it was nice to hear that the Captain & Brent were following along I hope that they and everyone else here on the DIS, take the TR for what it really is; a perspective of our experiences and what we value as good/bad service or what our expectations are, which can be quite high. I would hate to have someone lose their job over something we said. Cass and I have said to each other many times, DCL even at its average quality is still sky high compared to our experience on Royal Caribbean; but I'll let her delve into that more.
I got some things to add in a technical nature but I'll wait till Cass posts first.

St Thomas notes: The Screamin' Eagle tour is awesome, though make sure you wear something to get soaked in. Some stat's I remember are that the boat was made in Austrailia, is aluminum, and has two Cummins Diesel Engines with a 750HP rating total. If you don't mind being soaked, I highly recommend it :)

Tomorrow if we're well enough: PS at Chef Mickey's at 7pm if I remember correctly; a tradition for us. We'll be watching Wishes from the top of the Contemporary probably regardless as we're staying at WL for the next three days.
I just hope we're well enough by Halloween for MNSSHP pirate:
Well, I best scram, lots to do still and have yourselves a phenomenal night!
Robert

You two are what "Disney Magic" is all about and you make me proud to be a fellow Canadian. Sure hope you are both feeling much better real soon!!

Cass,

I've enjoyed reading your trip report. I sure hope you and Rob feel better. Enjoy the rest of your trip.

Off topic: Kaitlinsmom, I was doing a search on Google Images today for "Mickey Bar" and low and behold an image of Kaitlin appeared, it is linked to the page in the Cruise photos thread of her eating a Mickey bar. I thought that was pretty neat. It was on the second page on the second row from the bottom.

Hi Cass & Rob

LOVED the pictures from your latest installment. My Son and sister think you two are the "coolest" lol! I sure hope you both start feeling better soon so you can enjoy the rest of your vacation. As always, have a blast and I look forward to reading your next installment.

Cass and Rob - Sorry to hear that you guys are sick. I hope you get well soon and that you make it to MNSSHP! Take care of yourselves!!!

PS. Even if you don't post again on your marvelous vacation, your trip report is far superior to anything I or (IMHO) anyone has ever done.

I too have lost my voice from a cold that has made me miserable for the last 3 weeks! Your trip report is the only thing that made me feel better each day! Thanks so much for doing that. Enjoy the rest of your trip and thanks for all the neat pictures.

Cass and Rob, thanks for the latest TR. You are so nice to post this even when you are not feeling well  !! Try and get some rest and I hope both of you feel better in the morning. :goodvibes

I just cracked up, then almost cried and yelled to my husband to come over from the couch and come see this!!!!!!!! That was totally AWESOME that you took the time to do that!!!! Thanks so much. Oh, I hope you're feeling much better Cass, by the time you get to read these again. You guys are the best!!!!

I am sending you guys some pixie dust (it worked the last time) in hopes that the two of you will be better tommorrow. Enjoy the WL. My family (husband and 2 year old daughter Catherine) will be spending 11/24/05-11/28/05 there in a courtyard room. Take good care of it and get it ready for us ok. At the wishes celebration give Cass a back rub and a huge kiss Rob. Oh and dont forget to give her another one of your world famous foot rubs when you get back to the room. It sounded wonderful. You guys have fun and remember we eagerly look forward to your reports.

Thanks for the updates! I couldn't find the thread last night for some reason and I was going batty wondering what you guys were up to! Sending lots of pixie dust your way to help with a speedy recovery. :wizard:
