Live action Aladdin sequel question

Live action Aladdin sequel question. Since Aladdin 2 will probably come out in 2024 or so, what do you want the sequel to include? The last I heard, they are skipping the whole Jafar returns cartoon storylines and are pulling from the popular tv series that took place between the cartoon movie sequel and Aladdin 3 (King of Thieves). I heard Mozenrath will be the sequel’s Disney villian.

If that’s the case, do you think Disney is planning on more than 3 movies if the sequel is a huge success or do you think they are aiming for a trilogy like the cartoon movies? There were many interesting villains in the tv series with many storylines Disney could explore. If they are doing a trilogy, do you want them to explore the King of Thieves storyline (Cassim and Sa’Luk) or do something completely new? Interested in your thoughts on how the future movies should play out. Thanks.

If what I read yesterday is true and correct, there will be no more live action remakes of past animated movies.
"per Walt's wishes" Interesting though, WHO was responsible for ignoring those wishes and making the remakes anyway, IF This is True!

You don’t technically need Genie. And in the animated tv series, there were plenty of other magic characters (including other genies) that helped Aladdin and friends.

Why? You don’t need Will Smith’s genie to return and you could always recast as well. FB3 was still made without Johnny Depp, so why would Disney stop a successful franchise?

Will Smith's Genie was the highlight of the movie for some people. I know it was for me.

That was an April Fools Day joke by a website. I saw it in my news feed, but then I realized what day it was.

I think BrianL is right. Also: Snow White's still in the works. I haven't heard any updates, but Little Mermaid was still greenlit.

Walt is probably bellowing in his fishtank about Genie plus, as his keepers probably haven't told him about the remakes.

I'm not a fan of the live action remakes on film, not sure what it is that bugs me so much about them but I steer clear and I doubt they make a ton of money. Guess I'm already in love with an animated version and if I want to see it again I would go for what I love, not a different version so I get why they aren't going this way any more.

On the other hand, I totally adore the live shows like they have at the parks, the Beauty and the Beast one near Tower of Terror I watched dozens of times so making something like this with a tea or lunch more accessible all over the US would totally be a hit and big money maker. Like if each year there was a different live mini show rolled out for Christmas where families or grandparents could attend a nice breakfast or a tea in a lovely venue like the setup for Hoop De Doo or Mary Poppins with a Frozen Play and a Toy Story Play the lines would be out the door... I'm just daydreaming of course but I would so go.

Check out your local dinner theaters. I've seen The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast and Newsies at mine.

I like the live-action "remakes" when they are significantly different from the originals - like Maleficent, Dumbo, Cruella, even Alice in Wonderland - those are more original and interesting, though with an element of the familiar. With the shot-for-shot remakes, I agree that I would rather just watch the animated version, especially when the originals are absolute masterpeices like Beauty and the Beast!

Cruella worked out pretty well, they didn't even have tread the same road as the original. I felt that gave the filmmakers more freedom to do something with the character than have their hands tied to being so beholden to the classic. I also like that the villains are getting more love in some of these projects.

One of the options if Smith’s character was written off in the sequel, would be to introduce Eden as Genie’s replacement. I like a few of them. I do like Aladdin. The ones that bug me are the animals only ones such as Lion King. I'd rather watch the animated version.
