'Little Red' to be removed from Kilimanjaro Safaris

On the Disney Parks blog today is information that beginning this spring, the Kilimanjaro Safaris attraction will undergo some changes to give guests an additional opportunity to see more of their favorite animals, specifically zebra. To do so, Walt Disney Imagineering will make some creative changes to the last scene in the attraction by removing the Audio-Animatronics “Little Red” elephant and related set pieces. This area will then be reconstructed as savannah space and feature a new watering hole for live animals.

This enhancement is scheduled to begin this spring, and be completed by fall 2012. And don’t worry, the attraction will remain operational during the adjustment.

I will not miss little red, once you've done the safari once the Little Red thing spoils it a bit.

You are lucky enough, as am I, too have done this attraction more then once, but for lots of people it will be their first time and little kids like the Little Red theme...BUT having said that I too will not miss it when it goes. Do you remember when it first started they used to have real people waving at you from beside the jeep thing with Little Red in the back...they soon went as well!!

I always found that part a little odd if I'm honest

Can't say I will be sad to see little red go. It never fitted in to have an anamatronic after seeing all the lovely real animals. I know it was part of the story.

I get that they tried to make a story out of the safari but I always found it never worked properly and I could hardly follow the story I was to busy taking photos and enjoying seeing the animals.

I like the idea that they are going to provide more habitat for the animals.

Little Red was only cool when the live CM was there anyhow imo. Silly budget cuts
