I like this show and the family a lot. But, last night they were really focusing on Matt and Amy not getting along, fighting about money, and Amy talking about how when the kids are grown, they don't want to do the same things. She seems really down about the boys graduating and moving on and what is next part of her life. Her youngest is about 11 or 12, she still has a lot of parenting to do. I thought both episodes were depressing.

I didn't see the episodes, but the last episodes from the previous season seemed to have some tension between them. I don't think either of them are perfect, but I would have trouble living with Matt and his grand schemes.

Sounds like Amy wants to go to Europe and Matt doesn't.
Matt was saying he was fine with it.
Amy was hinting around, that her and Matt have different expectations.
I think she is trying to tell Matt, the boys are moving on and to spend time with them now, and do things with them now, before they are gone.
But I think she should realize, the boys will always come back by their dad.

I sure hope they won't be seperating.

I definately got the feeling that Matt and Amy want different things to happen in their future. Amy seems to want to travel where Matt doesn't - although I can't blame him because its hard for him to get around.

I thought that as well - it looked like they were having some tension about the future and what each of them wants to do. But I see their tension as very different from what I saw on J&K; to me, Amy and Matt just seem like a couple that loves each other very much but has different ideas of what "fun" is. I know married couples that go on vacations together but literally don't spend that much time with each other since they like to do different things; they split up during the day and then meet each other for dinner. I wouldn't like to do that, but I guess it works for some people.

To me--it seems almost every season they have argued over money.

In Dave Ramsey speak---Amy is the "nerd" and Matt is the "free spirit". Amy likes to know how each item is paid for exactly prior to it being bought or built--whereas Matt just likes to float around and get his ideas implemented.

Money is one of the top sources of friction in married couples--especially when they are not on the same page.

I've never found their on-screen persona to be anything but a couple that loves each other but bickers much. They seem very much opposites.

However--given Matt's youth, what he is doing now makes perfect sense to me though i think he spends way too much money getting it done.

The castle looked awesome, though.

I think Matt does what he wants to do.
Matt went to Iraq twice-and those weren't comfortable conditions.

Amy wants to experience things with her kids, travel etc.,
Matt likes to plan things at home with his kids.
He did that car trip and picked up the VW Beattle and had it restored with the boys.

I think both of them have to give/take in their relationship. It's horrible to go on a vacation with someone, and have them doing work, ie, the cruise down the Mississippi last year. But remember Matt and Amy went on a cruise last year the start of pumpkin season? it wasn't even on the show.

Makes you wonder what is going on, plus after Jon and Kate's fiasco show, TLC, can make it look this way too. Matt made a face after he told Amy it is okay if she goes to Spain with the kids, then he made a really bad face of contempt.
