little flashlight for the darker rides?

Some rides actually have them if you ask. I'm not sure which ones but I know that living with the land and the mexican pavilion they offered us one when my daughter said she didn't like the dark. We didn't end up using it though so I'm not sure how big/small they are.

You could get her glowstick bracelets or a glowstick wand. You can get packs of multiple bracelets for very cheap, and they last a few hours.

We have used a small key chain light the type you squeeze. the glow bracelets work well too or how about a glow worm friend if you dont mind carrying it around? My kids also like to look at there clothes and see if they glow in the dark so that might help your little one if scared in the dark.

I just saw tiny flashlights at the checkout counter of Walgreens yesterday. I almost bought it for my daughter. Otherwise, I like the idea of keychains with the little light at the end. Would it be distracting to other guests to have a light flashing? I'm only asking because I don't like flash photography and people with video cameras on rides. I don't know if I would be bothered in line though.

Glowsticks are great because they don't give off too much light, and can't be pointed around in people's eyes, etc. The necklace and bracelet ones are great because they have a safety fastener, and they can help you keep track of your kid in the dark too.

[/BWhen my daughter uses the little flashlights and she is almost 9 I tell her she has to shine them down at the ground. I never had anyone say anything about them. She also likes glow in the dark shoe laces which I forgot to mention above. Most people understand you have a little kids and they are a bit scared. The nemo ride at the part with the Jelly fish still creaps her out ( me too a little bit ). I know Dollar Tree here was selling glow in the dark swords that use glow sticks. I got DD a princess wand and it glowed for a long time too. i dont like the camera flashing and have been guilty of doing such because I couldnt see to change the settings . trying to think of what else we used that has worked for us but the brain is on strike at the moment.

from experience, very annoying on a ride. I was blinded multiple times by a little boy playing with one on POTC. I don't think it would bother me in line, just on the ride.

Think waiting in line it is a great idea. I think on rides it is not a good idea--even rude. There is no flash photography but you have the rude people who think rules don't apply to them. Last trip to Disneyland we were on POTC for the final ride (my son and I). The rude family in front of use VIDEO TAPED the entire ride and talked LOUDLY about everything...the boat was full. I was not about to say anything during the ride because I didn't know what they'd do and wanted to avoid confrontation. When we got off I mentioned to CM about it....the said to wait. They filled a boat...left an empty boat...put my son and I in the front of a boat with no one on it...then left an empty boat. Fun experience and nothing CM needed to do but happened because some rude family filmed a ride and distracted everyone behind them.

Rides themselves are dark for a reason...can see the flashlight being fun for the waiting in line. Lighting up things like someone mentioned on Nemo or other rides is rude and makes the ride less enjoyable for others. If kids can't handle the dark rides forgo that ride and choose something else.

Glow sticks!! Cheap and fun, my kids loved the bracelets and our dollar store has princess wand glowsticks!

I would avoid a flashlight even if its a small one with toddlers/preschoolers as it could intefere with others enjoyment of the rides.

We bought one of the special kids drinks with the light up Buzz Lightyear our first night at Disney and our 1.5 year old used that on the rides. It was the perfect size and brightness for him and not distracting for other riders at all.

When we had little ones afraid of the dark we gave them glow sticks. And one time I was lucky enough to find a princess necklace that had a pendant that glowed when you pushed on it. I wouldn't use a flashlight as there is a big likelyhood of the light ending up in someone's eyes.

ITA with this. It would be annoying during POC to see a little light bobbing around on the animatronics or scenery. The rides are darkened for a reason. If WDW wanted them lit, then they would be lit.

I have to agree. Glow sticks I would be ok with - but flashlights I would be seriously annoyed about. I have 2 young children....who I pretty much say "suck it up" to. We taught our youngest to not be afraid of the ghosts in HM by him saying (quietly) "I am not afraid of you you stinky ghost". He giggled everytime he got to say "stinky"...

I totally agree. In line I don't really care, but if your kid needs a flashlight to deal with a ride, maybe he shouldn't go on. I can deal with a glow necklace or bracelet or a firmly held (not swung) glowstick, I guess, but I don't want to.

The worst I ever had with this was on Space Mt at Disneyland, the couple in the front row shone a flashlight on the tracks "to see what it looked like" I assume. We were in row 2 and 3. They were probably in their 40s. I wish I would have asked for a re-ride, because it totally ruined it, but I didn't.

Our boys have the same issue. We ended up getting them both Mickey mini flashlight keychains that had a clip. they aren't cheap, but it ended up being a simple souvenir for them too. They wore them clipped to their shorts so they could turn the light on if they needed too. The light isn't strong so it doesn't bother other folks. It was worth the $$ IMO. Got them to experience rides they probably wouldn't go on b/c the line would get dark....
