little flashlight for the darker rides?

Don't bring in lights. It's rude to everyone around the kid with the light. I'm anticipating the question "Would you rather hear my child crying, or see their little glow stick?" Easy. Neither. You (general you) don't need to take your kid on that ride.

When I was younger, my mom gave me a penlight that she got from her work (she's a nurse). You could probably get a little kids flashlight (bonus if it's Disney) that would work just fine

You could get her glowstick bracelets or a glowstick wand. You can get packs of multiple bracelets for very cheap, and they last a few hours.

:thumbsup2

They gently, softly illuminate the space around the person with the bracelet/stick, yet the light doesn't travel far to bug others. It's all I ever did with/for DS.

I would buy my DD a small Disney penlight at the Emporium when she was young and afraid of the dark. Of course I never allowed her to shine it on the scenes or at the other guests! She was allowed to shine it on her hand or inside the ride vehicle at her feet. I don't think that it would be any more of less annoying than a glow stick.

My 5yo DN was very timid when it came to rides so I faced this dilemma too.

I wouldn't recommend a flash light as it can ruin some of the special effects for other guests.

My DD had running shoes that lit up when she walked. I said to her, 'If it's too dark in a ride just tap your shoes together and they'll light up.' It worked wonderfully as it gave her a little light without affecting anyone else's ride. It was also a distraction for her.

Heh...she was so timid I noticed her tapping them together on It's a Small World!! :rotfl:

I agree with the others that say no. If my kids were afraid of the dark we wouldn't do it. One of them was afraid after we got on PotC, he buried his face in my shoulder, but we made it fun and after that he wanted to ride over and over.
