Lisa's Wish Journal - Now we have gone Dopey.

as soon as DH gets home, I am going out for a walk. I would like to do about 4 miles tonight. I just can't decide wether to stay here or go to one of the tracks. Better decide soon.........

Hi Tracy
I was able to walk and did 4 miles. Took Roo for the first two and she was so ready to go. We ran down the driveway, it's a long one. and then I made her walk. Felt good to get out.

Our weather is good today. The fog this morning was really dense and it lasted until well after 8:00am. Temp got up to 62 and it was pleasant going out this evening. I am ready for lighter evenings though. The dark just makes them seem so short.

Thanks for the encouragement on the trip report. I'll try to write some more tomorrow. It's late, have to finish DD's hat for school tomorrow, and I am baking a cake for work tomorrow. We do monthly birthdays. I order the white cake with the names from a bakery and then make a chocolate one to go with it. I love to bake and can decorate when I have time, but I am horrible at writing names, so I let the bakery do those.

Great job getting your walk in!:thumbsup2 I bet Roo loved it too! :goodvibes

Can you send some of that 60 degree weather our way? Just for a day or two? :flower3: It's supposed to be around 40 here this week and it feels downright balmy! ;) Of course, 60 degrees would mean that we would be wearing shorts and t shirts here. LOL! (By the way, a few days ago, the high was in the 20s and I saw a teenage boy wearing shorts!:scared1:)

Have a wonderful Wednesday, Lisa!

I bet it felt great to get that walk in! :goodvibes I wish I liked (and was good at) baking! If it doesn't come out of a box, I don't bother... :rolleyes1 But I guess it keeps those goodies out of the house!

Lisa, so glad you got your walk in! And I love to bake too, I find it very relaxing and therapeutic. Unfortunately, my waistline doesn't agree!

I see kids here all the time wearing shorts when there is snow on the ground!

Speaking of shorts in cold weather......

DS refused to let me buy him school pants. I bought him shorts at the beginning, as that is all he wanted to wear in 90+ degrees. Can't blame him, right? Well, when it started getting cool, I took him to buy new school pants and jeans. He would only get jeans. Refused school pants, as his reasoning was if I didn't buy him school pants then I could use that money on the shoes he wanted. He insists that he is only outside for about 5 minutes each morning and after all, his cousins up North don't wear pants until it snows. and it nevers snows here, right? So, no school pants.

When I was at Disney, DH calls. "Why doesn't DS have school pants?" UMMM, he didnt' want any.

Well, the high for that day was to be 20 and DH was afraid if he sent him to school like that then child services would show up. I told him if CS showed up then give them some $$ and ask them to take DS to get some pants. They'll see how easy that task is. I refuse to buy something if he doesn't try it on first and promises he will wear it. I have given away (or yard sale) too many clothes with tags on them.

DS admitted he was a bit cold that day, but not too cold. Kids.:sad2:

Yes, Roo and I both loved getting our walk in. Tonight it is storming, but hopefully it will be gone by tomorrow afternoon. I will be at one of the tracks if I get to go out tomorrow.

Today, I almost didn't go to work. Had a bad night (not unusual) and really had to talk myself into it this morning. Got there and the guys were pretty much avoiding me as they could tell something was wrong. (Payroll messed up my paycheck. How I miss our old payroll clerks) I have an extra hour from working late last Friday and I decided I would use it today.

At lunch a friend called to say that an old friend we used to work with was on her way out to visit. I didn't even know she was in town! They finally called and I got to spend two wonderful hours with her. My supervisor didn't mind as he knows how much I miss her, plus part of the time I gave her a tour of our new building and was able to do a maintenance check at the same time. I felt so much better that I didn't even go home early. It was a very pleasant surprise. She moved to Virginia right after Katrina and I have only gotten to see her a couple of times in the past 4 years.

Now DD and I are going to bake cookies for her class tomorrow. It is her snack day and I totally forgot. I usually send snack in early and I guess the teacher got concerned and said something to DD today. I'm glad she did. But I just remembered she needs drink also. I will have to call DH later and ask him to stop at the store on his way home from bowling. I'm not going out in this weather. Plus we are under a tornado warning. I'm gonna stay put tonight.

A tornado warning?!?!?:scared1: I hope you guys are all safe and sound!:grouphug: The weather has certainly been weird this year, hasn't it?

Sending a gentle  your way. I hope everyone is okay and that your Thursday is a good one!

I know exactly what you mean about DS! Mine won't wear anything but jeans, and he will wear the same pair all week if I don't catch him in the act... And neither of my kids will wear a jacket in the wintertime - just a hoodie. I'm sure some of the teachers/parents think I am a model mother! ;)

Wow, you can still take baked goods to class? We have been banned from doing that because there are so many kids with food allergies. Anything brought to school has to be store bought with the labels on it. Crazy what this world is coming to, isn't it?

Oh yeah I can relate too! At about 5:45 this morning my son comes into my room and says to me "hi mom, hope you slept well, do I have any clean undershirts?" Okay, yeah I did sleep well until you woke me up thirty minutes early and you have a whole drawer full of clean undershirts. But alas, they are the ones he doesn't like. I told him if he wants more of those kind he can do his own laundry or buy some more! My son is one million times more picky about what he wears than my dd. Okay that is my lets share annoying ds/wardrobe stories!

I am glad you got a walk in, stay dry and safe in this weather! Glad you got to visit with your friend and that it brightened your day!:flower3:

It sounds like you had a good time seeing your old co-worker...a nice little pick-me-up.

Tornado warning...ugh. We had on here today too but it didn't even storm as badly as they were predicting. Fine with me!

Hello Ladies:wave2:

Tornado Warning passed with no incidents. :thumbsup2 but we did get a lot of rain. Not a bad thing for us.
I was able to walk again last night. I took Roo and we went to the track. So much better there, no cars to dodge. When I take Roo to the track, I let her do the first two miles and then she gets to sit in the car and watch me. Did four miles, DH was very late coming home from work and had bowling, so I was late going out and had to get DD from DH at the bowling alley. But four miles is good, and I did good on time.

Tracy, I am very careful not to go out if there is a Warning. Watches, depends on what I need to do.

Amy, yes, I was surprised also that we could take homemade stuff to school. I love to bake. DD's preschool everything had to be store bought, even stuff for Teacher's luncheons. But the reason there was they didn't know the sanitary levels of people's personal kitchens.

I always ask at the beginning of the year about any food allergies in the class. Last year there was one child with really bad allergies, but her mother sent her snack each day. This year DD's class doesn't have anything that I am aware of.

Today I was asked to send in snacks for the teachers work room. Once a month the PTO provides lunch and snacks for the teachers. I was specifically asked to make something home made.

Amy, I get the question about clean clothes also. Now I have taken to checking DS' closet towards the end of the week to make sure he has clean stuff. They have to wear uniforms and he 5 sets, but sometimes, you just never know.

Barb, you must have gotten the storm that we had. They kept predicting tornados and bad weather, but we just got a lot of rain. The wind did blow some, but nothing unusual.

Yesterday was a very busy day, but I am hoping today is much quieter. I'm tired. So looking forward to tomorrow morning. We only have one thing planned for this weekend, plus all the usual stuff. But I am hoping for a quiet, relaxing weekend also.

Hope everyone has a great day.

Hi Lisa,

I'm glad that you guys are safe!:grouphug:

Great job getting your walk in!:thumbsup2

I hope you have a relaxing weekend ahead.

I'm glad your weather is better and you got your walk in. You must have transferred your tornado warning here, because we had one last night - yes, in AZ!!! Luckily nothing came out of it, but that's something we just don't see out here. I had my fair share of tornadoes when I lived in Wichita - NO THANKS!

So glad the tornado didn't happen! And great job getting that walk in. I love the track too, I just get a much better walk in. Whatever works is my mantra!

Thanks Ladies, I hope everyone had a good weekend.

Friday, Normal day at work. DD went to spend the night with a friend, a first! She spent the night with my friend's mother back in December, but this is the first time she has spent the night anywhere's else. :woohoo: Then DS went to a friend's so DH and I ended up with a night by ourselves. Big night to, let me tell you.
We delivered a mattress set to someone from work, then picked up a tv stand for oldest DS, went to dinner, went to a closeout store and read golf shirts (must be from an embroidry company, lots of different stuff on them), then we went home and I paid bills while DH worked on the taxes. I stayed up until midnight in case I had to go get DD. Went to bed and slept for 9.5 hours. Do you know the last time I slept that long at one time? I can't remember. :confused3 Then I stayed in bed for another couple of hours, flipping this tv. The house was so quiet and I had absolutely no wheres to be. It felt wonderful. :cloud9:

Then the kids came home one by one and reality set in. We just worked around the house, ate pizza and watched a movie. It was a great day.

Today (Sunday) was a bit busier. DH had to do work for work and I went shopping. Then we took oldest DS his tv and tv stand. I took him a few other things and I think he is now set. His apartment is nice. Nothing fancy and it is rather small, but just right for him.

We came home and watched the end of the AFC championship game and then watched the NFC one. The Saints won!!!!!!:cheer2: I don't watch football too much anymore, but I did watch some of this one. Both teams did really well and it was a very close and hard fought game. but I will tell you there were lots of prayers being sent to heaven tonight. New Orleans is rockin and it's not going to die down anytime soon. People are still in the dome and downtown NO is like a Mardi Gras. Who would have thought?

A couple weeks ago I went back and read the beginning of this thread. I completed my first goal, am diligently working on the second one and now need to concertrate on the third. My finances. I was doing rather well despite a couple set backs. Just as I got my second to last one paid off the mower died. Okay, 6 months interest free, no problem. Then a few things came up with the house. We had to go to New York for a week. ($1000 plane tickets) DH told DD she could have her party at CEC, then DH wanted to take the kids to NY for Christmas. :sad2: And Christmas got out of hand. I normally plan for all of this stuff and I had, just not enough. Plus DH was in a funky mood and wanted all of this expensive stuff and I guessing it was a reaction to his DM's passing. She loved Christmas and buying for others. Anyway, I realized what was happening and just let it. DH also wanted oldest DS to move by Dec 31 and told me to figure it out. Okay, I got what he needed so he could move. I decided I would figure all the finances out in January.

Now it is January and I have three cards to take care of now instead of the one I had left in the Fall. (Mower is paid off and 2 smaller cards I was able to take care of.) That feels so good. I have a plan for the other three.

The first one I would like to be paid off by May 1.
The second one I would like to be paid off by October 1.
The third one I would like to be paid off by February 1, 2011.

I have upped our Christmas savings and next year, DH and I will have a talk well before Christmas as to spending limits. We do a huge Christmas Party that has increased in cost, so I have included that too.
We will make the kids give us their lists much early than the past couple of years. Not knowing what they want makes it hard to buy things on sale.

I am going to do my very best to reach the goals I have set for these cards. I really want to get this taken care of once and for all. DH wants to put in a pool and in a year and half we plan to get another car as DS will be old enough to drive. I would like to have all of this taken care of before we take on any more big payments.

I know this doesn't quite fall under the WISH category, but worrying about my finances actually gives me migranes sometimes and I think if I could take care of this then I am one step closer to becoming the healthy person I would like to be.

I'm glad to see NO go to the Superbowl, since they have had soooo many bad seasons! It's always good to see the underdogs make it. Plus the city really needs that morale boost. However, I have to root for the Colts since I can't root for the team that kicked out my Cardinals! ;)

I think getting your finances in order is great for your overall health. It's good that you have a plan. :thumbsup2

Hi Lisa,

Your financial goals look good!:thumbsup2 I know that I often use my journal as a way to track earnings or payoffs because I come here daily and it helps keep me on track and reminds me of my goals.

It sounds like you had a nice weekend. :goodvibes

Hope you have a great day ahead!
