Lisa's Journal (Life on the "Beach" - Part 2 all the way to goal!)

Hi Lisa :wave2: Just popping in to say Hi! You are doing so fabulous! Your 50 lb clippie is almost in your grasp! Sending lots of :wizard: pixie dust for you that the Easter Bunny drops off a 50 lb clippie in your basket!! :) I don't often post but do check in on your journal daily. Your experience has been so motivating and your transformation - not just in your body but your attitude toward your body is so wonderful to read. Keep up the great work! :Pinkbounc

April 9, 2004 (Friday) Day 131 on the Beach

I don't have much time to post this evening but I wanted to make sure I posted my menu and exercise stuff so here goes:

Menu:
B: pancakes (yep, I said pancakes!) with sf Log Cabin syrup, 3 small sausage patties and 2 scrambled eggs with a slice of lf cheddar cheese
S: no snack
L: no lunch because we ate breakfast about 11:30 am
S: V8 juice
D: crustless pizza and 1/2 cup of n/s/a ice cream for dessert

Let me explain about the pancakes. They are called Up Country Organics of Vermont. These are in the ingredients: wheat flour, buckwheat flour, buttermilk, a leavening agent, salt and dried honey. I know honey is on the eat sparingly or not at all list but it's the last ingredient and DH and I figure we will only have pancakes for a special once in a while treat.

They turned out great! DH and I really enjoyed them. I didn't know how much I missed something as simple as real pancakes. Not that I don't enjoy the mock french toast but these pancakes were delicious and filling. I made 3 for myself but could only eat 2. Wheat products do tend to fill you up quicker. So if you are on SBD and are missing pancakes, I highly recommend this brand. Yummy!

Exercise and Water Gauge:
I did the FIRM BSS1 body sculpt (lower body) today. Water was pretty bad since I was home. I'd say it was 3.0.

That's a wrap for Friday!

Tracy - thanks so much for stopping by and celebrating with me. I'm trying not to obsess about what the scale will say tomorrow. If I have lost the total of 2 pounds that I need to reach 50 pounds then fine. If not, I will sometime this month. I am trying to learn not to let this journey be all about the scale but how good I feel. My 12 year old sister actually said to me today (this is the first time I have seen in her in about a month as we live on opposite sides of town) that she thought I was looking beautiful! That was such a lovely compliment. :)

Lisa - Oh my! I don't know know what to say! I went to the link you provided and saw your pics. You are so pretty, both before and after your weight loss. I assume those handsome people in the other photos are your family. What a fine looking bunch you are! I made a notation saying just that in the space where guests can make comments. Thanks for sharing your progress photos. I hope to be able to share once I lose a bit more. You are doing so well my WISH-sis!!! Keep it up! :)

kayeandjim00 - thanks so much for supporting me! I know that everyone that reads my journal can't always post but it means so much when you do pop in and leave a little bit of encouragement. I get so much support from my WISH friends and I really truly do appreciate it! So even if you can't post, I am honored that you are reading about my journey. Take care.

Hi Lisa,

A compliment from a 12 year old is a rare thing. Congratulations. Thanks for the reccommendation on the pancakes. I'll have to check them out. I'll check out your journal later to see how weigh in went, but you have the right attitude. If you are feeling healthy, that's what counts.
:smooth: ,
Beth

Lisa, I'm stopping by to say a quick hello! I hope your Easter was filled with joy!

Your pancakes sound yummy and you ate them with some good sources of protein (eggs & sausage). As long as you're not eating them by themselves, I think you're sticking to SB and doing a great job!

Another pound gone on your journey - WOW!! :Pinkbounc You've been keeping up with the FIRM and I bet it's helping you so much! I can't wait to see when you post some pictures! ::yes::

Hope you have a wonderful week! :sunny:

April 10, 2004 (Saturday) Day 132 on the Beach

It's been a busy weekend so I'm just going to post both Saturday and Sunday's menu and exercise together on one post.

Here's Saturday's menu:
B: 2 scrambled eggs with cheese and 2 small sauage patties on 2 slices of whole wheat bread with strawberry simply fruit (yummy breakfast!)
S: V8 juice
L: tuna salad and some whole wheat crackers
S: jr. popcorn no butter (at the movies) with a diet cola
D: taco salad and 1/2 an orange for dessert

Exercise/Water Gauge:
I did FIRM BSS1 cardio sculpt this evening and even managed to do the entire leg press routine with the whole 14 inch step along with my six real men push ups. The FIRM makes you feel so strong and I am just thrilled to be able to step up so high on that fanny lifter. I tried once months ago to use the whole 14" step and really hurt myself. This time I did it with no problem for the entire routine! Woohoo! I'm so excited about my progress. Water level was a 3.5. Not too bad for a weekend.

That's a wrap for Saturday!

April 11, 2004 (Sunday) Day 133 on the Beach

I weighed in this morning and lost 1.5 pounds. I'm happy about it but a little sad that I didn't make the 50 pound club. I'm 1/2 pound away and hope to make it by next weigh in. I'm trying to focus on the fact that I am aiming for my second 10% goal which will give me a total lost of 53 pounds so I'm actually 3.5 pounds away from my goal and that's pretty close. Also, I feel so much more fit than I did 4-1/2 months ago so I really have no reason to be bummed out about a little 1/2 pound. I've lost 49.5 pounds and that's nothing to sneeze at!

I have now lost 4/10 toward the Mother's Day challenge.

Menu:
B: 1 slice of whole wheat toast with simply fruit spread (strawberry), 1/2 glass of 1% milk, 2 scrambled eggs with 1 slice of lf cheese and 3 slices of bacon
S: no snacks today
L: 2 cheese hot dogs and 3 cups of light popcorn
D: shrimp alfredo over whole wheat linguine with a 1/2 cup of n/s/a ice cream for dessert

Exercise/Water Gauge:
I did FIRM BSS1 ab sculpt for my work out this morning. Water level was a 4.0. I tried to really focus on water today.

That's a wrap for Sunday!

Beth - thanks so much for stopping by to check on me. I hope this week brings you lots of sunshine!

Doe - thanks to you for stopping by and seeing how I'm doing. I love the pancakes and will make them again but probably not too soon. My sister gave me an interesting "before" picture of me at my heaviest and I had her take a "during" pic last night. I'm just trying to figure out if I want to wait until I get to goal and post all three together. I'll let you know.

Hey lady, just stopping in to say a quick hello. Congratulations on your 1.5 lb. loss, that's wonderful! You'll have that 50 lb clippie very soon, probably by the end of this week. Keep up the good work with those manly man push ups!:p

Hey ZerasPride! I am new here, but wanted to let you know that you are an inspiration to me. I started one week ago, so this is going to be some challenge! I want to run and do man push-ups, too!::yes::

Carol

Awesome 1 1/2 lbs, yippie:bounce:

Next week we'll see that 50! You are amazing. Stay on the path of your journey and you'll know where to go. Happy and healthy all the way:wave:

Hi Lisa! Reading your journal makes me want to get out the Firm tapes. I've been slacking big time and I know it - i need to get back in my groove! LOL! You are doing so awesome right now! You are such an inspiration and I can't believe you are almost to losing 20% of your body weight. That is just amazing to me!

April 12, 2004 (Monday) Day 134 on the Beach

I am feeling much more sunny today than I was yesterday. I'm going to try to focus on the successes I have had and not where I feel I should be. I think the one thing I don't have control over is when and how my body chooses to let go of the excess weight. I can exercise, eat right, think positive and drink gallons of water but I can't speed the process along any faster than my body wants it to go.

Menu:
B: 1/2 bowl of whole wheat flakes with 1% milk and 2 small sausage patties
S: V8 juice
L: tuna salad with 8 whole wheat crackers and an orange
S: Dannon light and fit 4 oz. yogurt (peach)
D: beef stroganoff over long grain converted rice with 1/2 cup of n/s/a ice cream for dessert

Exercise/Water Gauge:
I did FIRM cardio sculpt blaster for my work out this morning. I even added light weights because I've just about got the fancy foot work down! Woohoo!!! My water level was a 4.75. Pretty good.

That's a wrap for Monday!

Lisa - thanks so much for stopping by. I'm going to try focus on what I can do to help my weight loss along and not give in to the temptation to throw my scale out the window! I'm also getting more excited about my Disney trip as the days get closer. Hey, I'm going to Disneyworld!!!!! :bounce:

Carol - welcome to WISH and the journal boards. Keep up your exercise routine and your eating plan and you'll be in the best shape of your life in no time! I can take some modest credit for doing a few manly man push ups but I'm not up to the challenge of running yet but I do get jealous of those skinny people out there who make running look so effortless. Maybe I can be one them one day! Do you have a journal? I'll have to check it out if you do.

Auntmeme - thanks for celebrating my loss with me. I guess every pound we lose does deserve it's own woohoo! You can't get to 50 or 100 or even 10 for that matter without losing 1 pound. So I'm going to be grateful for each one I leave behind me!

Amanda - Okay, FIRM-sis, you've got to kick it into high gear with the FIRM work outs. We both know how good they make us feel. Okay, I know I'm a little fanatical about the FIRM work outs but if you can squeeze them in a couple of times a week, that would be great. I'll have to get over to your journal to see how you are progressing.

Hi Lisa,

I'm glad you are feeling :sunny: today. Congratulations on losing that 1.5 pounds. I understand feeling frustrated. When a clippie is close, you can almost taste it. You will get there soon. Keep up the great work
:sunny:
Beth

Hey Lisa,

Yes...I do have a journal. This is only my 4th day writing in it. Wher can you get the "Firm"? I would love to have that. You are doing great! Keep up the good work because work it is!!!

April 13, 2004 (Tuesday) Day 135 on the Beach
April 14, 2004 (Wednesday) Day 136 on the Beach

I've been so busy I haven't had time to post to my journal. They are cracking down on how much time we spend on the internet at work so I'll have to be a bit more diligent with checking in here in the evenings. I'm being lazy and just posting for the two days here.

I won't bother posting my food for Tuesday and Wednesday but I have stayed on plan and exercised with the FIRM on Tuesday but Wednesday I took as a rest day.

I did put on a jacket this morning for work and it was so big I had to take it off. I won't be wearing it anymore! I would say it's at least 2 sizes too big. Woohoo!!! I am officially in the 18/20's down from the 26/28's. I may not be at 50 pounds lost yet but I'm happy about how my clothes are fitting or should I say not fitting!

Beth - thanks for the congrats on my lose. Losing weight is hard work but I know it's so worth it. I hope you have a nice evening and thanks for stopping by!

Carol - Hi!!!! I got a chance to post to your journal. Welcome to the Beach! I know you will be successful. I answered your question about the FIRM on your journal. I know you'll be doing manly man push-ups in no time! Let's try to reach our goals on the Beach together. Take care.

Hi Lisa,

I wanted to tell you you inspired me. I did 12 manly push ups. I haven't tried since high school. I do have a ton of upperbody strength from my job.

Congrats on officially being in the 18/20's. What a great accomplishment.

Have a great one.
Beth

Lisa, go on witcha bad self!!! Size 18/20s?:jumping1: You are doing great girl! All the hard work is paying off. I bet you look wonderful!

I bet your sister is so excited since you're so close to vacation. Be sure to take lots of pictures to capture those memories. I forgot where you're staying. Wherever it is, you'll have a great time and I bet the weather will be nice. I'm not looking forward to the Florida humidity, but whatever, I can deal with it.

Take care!:D

Hey Lisa! Reaching goals together sounds great! It's nice knowing that I am not alone in this "battle". So far, it has been so easy! We are in the same size clothes right now. I cannot wait to put clothes on and not be able to wear them anymore because they are too big, not too small! Congratulations! I am so happy for you!!!:teeth:

Have a great day tomorrow!!

Carol:wave2:

Way to go Lisa!:jumping1: Smaller sizes are wonderful! ::yes::

I hope that you have been able to enjoy the nice weather we have had here. We have passes to the zoo and are taking our kids today. I'm thinking of coming up with a quick scavenger hunt for Emily so she can earn some Disney Dollars for correct answers. Woohoo!:sunny:

Lisa, keep up the good work! With your hard work and your determination, you will meet your goals! Have a wonderful Sunday!

Tracy:wave2:

Okay guys. Today, I'm feeling very lazy. It's late on Sunday night so this will be a compilation of what's been happening for me over the past couple of days on the "Beach".

April 15, 2004 (Thursday) Day 137 on the Beach
April 16, 2004 (Friday) Day 138 on the Beach
April 17, 2004 (Saturday) Day 139 on the Beach

I have stayed on plan each day and worked out with the FIRM. I attended a baby shower on Saturday afternoon and ate lunch (boy was that smart) before I went and was able to pass no problem on all the carby foods (spaghetti, potato salad, chips and pretzels and of course no baby shower would be complete without lots of cake :)). I focused on my friend that's having a baby girl and visiting with others like my sister in law that was there and I haven't seen in a few months. I had a really nice time. It's so freeing to be able to separate "special" occasions from food. I feel so liberated to attend a party and concentrate on the people and not be worried about the food. Ah, sweet freedom!

No one could believe that I wouldn't even eat one bite. Why should I? I wasn't hungry but I did have lots of water and a very good time, I might add. I'm so over "social" eating. I've noticed thin people don't seem to eat just because food is thrust in their faces or to be polite. They usually eat when they are hungry. I'm one of those peole that would eat because it was expected of me, not to hurt the hosts' feelings, because I was happy, sad, depressed, bored or because the moon was yello! Ha! Now I only eat when I want or need to and I'm starting view food as fuel for my body, yummy fuel but fuel nonetheless.

I weighed in this morning (Sunday) and I'm happy to report that I lost 2 pounds! Woohoo! That puts me at 51.5 pounds lost. I will be claiming my 50 pound clippie as soon as the clip art comes back up. I have also lost an additional 5 inches since the last time I measured 2 weeks ago. I've got 1.5 pounds to go to reach my second 10% weight loss goal!

I may not have time to post everyday to my journal but I will make an attempt because I know it's instrumental to my success and I don't want to cut out anything that I know is helping me get to my goal.

That's a wrap for now!

Lisa - thanks so much for stopping by. I'm really starting to get excited about my trip. We're staying at the Grand Floridian and I showed my sister pics on the internet and she was very impressed! I hope you have a great trip!

Carol - you will love South Beach. I know you will have wonderful success with this program. I am here to support you and so is eveyone else on WISH! We can do this together!!!

Tracy - I hope you had a great time at the zoo. Thanks for checking on me.

Hey Lisa! Wow! The Grand Floridian is so beautiful. One day I want to stay there, but with 4 children, that would be a huge expense for us. You will have to let me know if it is as great as it looks and worth the $$$!

Looking at food the way you do is the way I think it was meant to be. I know you are so excited about your weight loss. 5 inches in 2 weeks is a lot!! Keep up the great work!!!::yes:: Thanks for your support. It means alot to me!

Carol:wave:

What a great weekend Lisa! I hear ya about the social eating. My issue is that I just LOVE food so much! LOL!

I am climbing back on the wagon with both diet and exercise. I'll be returning to the Firm this week. I'm starting tomorrow and I'm going to do the Weight Training Tape. I'm excited about getting restarted again.
