Lisa's Journal (Life on the "Beach" - Part 2 all the way to goal!)

March 5, 2004 (Friday) Day 96 on the Beach

I don't have much time for posting tonight. I've been really busy but I wanted to make sure I posted my menu and changed my cheat free clippie. It's exciting to be so close to completing the 100 day cheat free challenge. I am going to focus really hard and do my best to make it.

Here's today's menu:
B: 1/2 bowl of ww flakes with 1% milk and 3 slices of bacon
S: an orange (yummy)
L: grilled chicken salad with ranch dressing
S: Dannon light and fit 4 oz. yogurt (strawberry)
D: crustless pizza with lots of veggies (trying to make up for the past couple of days) with a diet Vanilla Pepsi (no dessert but I did drink 1 litre of water before bed)

Exercise/Water Gauge:
I did FIRM BSS1 cardio sculpt this morning. Water was a 6.0. It really helps to have the goals for the month to keep me on the straight and narrow with the water intake.

That's a wrap for Friday!

Thanks Erin and Marcia for stopping by and checking on me! I really do appreciate it. I gave my sister her invitation for the trip and she seemed happy about it. I did tell her the next time I go to Disneyworld she could go with me so it wasn't a total surprise. I know we'll have a great time and I'm looking forward to spending some quality time alone with my little sis. I've got so many brothers and sisters (there are 12 of us) that it's hard to spend one on one time with each of them now that so many of us are adults. Anyway, I'm really looking forward to it! :)

March 6, 2004 (Saturday) Day 97 on the Beach

Today was my official weigh in day (Sunday) and I'm happy to report I lost 1 pound. I was up a pound earlier in the week so I am thrilled with this loss. I'm just 1.5 pounds from my 40 pound clippie! I also was able to wear a dress this morning that I haven't been able to wear in over 5 years. When I asked DH to zip it up for me, he walked away. I asked him why he didn't zip it up and he said he had! This dress that was once so tight I couldn't even get it zipped all the way, now is very loose on me!

Menu:
B: 1/2 bowl of ww flakes with 1% milk and 3 slices of bacon
S: no morning snack
L: chef salad with lf ranch dressing and an orange
S: 7 whole almonds
D: crustless pizza with lots of veggies - it was yummy - with a diet Vanilla Pepsi and a ff fudgesicle for dessert

Exercise/Water Gauge:
I did FIRM BSS1 body sculpt (upper body) work out today and water was a 5.0.

That's a wrap for Saturday!

Lisa,

Congratulations are in order. You lost a pound and fit into that dress. WOOHOO! You are going to look fabulous at WDW. That 100th day is so close.

March 6, 2004 (Sunday) Day 98 on the Beach

I was able to pretty much have a lazy Sunday afternoon. That was nice, I don't have too many of those. I was really excited about making the shrimp alfredo with the angel hair pasta. It turned out really good. I almost feel like a gourmet cook! I was able to find whole wheat pasta in the grocery store and got the alfredo sauce recipe from lowcarbfriends.com. I sauteed my shrimp in ICBINB and garlic and the meal was delicious! I made sugar free chocolate jello pudding for dessert and put it in my lined muffin tin to chill in the frig for a couple of hours. It was just like eating mini chocolate mousse cups. Delicious meal all around!

Menu:
B: 1/2 bowl of ww flakes with 1% milk, 3 small sausage patties and 2 scrambled eggs with 1 slice of lf sharp cheddar cheese
S: no morning snack
L: 2 cheese hot dogs and 3 cups of popcorn with a diet soda
S: no afternoon snack
D: shrimp alfredo over ww angel hair pasta with sf jello pudding for dessert

Execise/Water Gauge:
I did FIRM ab sculpt this afternoon and water was a 5.0. Pretty good for a weekend.

That's a wrap for Sunday!

Thanks Erin and Beth for the encouragement. I hope you both are doing well and I'll make it over to your journals to check on you later today. Take care!

ww angel hair pasta! haven't seen it, sounds yummy.
I'll have to give it a whirl once I'm back off of Phase1.

Congrats on the pound you lost.
I think I found it (plus .5 from someone else),
WANT IT BACK?

Good morning Lisa. Just stopping in to say hello and wish you a great week. Way to go with the 1 lb loss and the loose fitting dress. Oh, and that pasta you had sounds delish. I've been meaning to go to Trader Joe's to see what they have in terms of low carb. Take care and have fun trip planning!:D

:Pinkbounc A POUND GONE FOREVER!!! :Pinkbounc

Way to go, Lisa! I loved the story about your dress being so loose! You must be feeling so great! I can't wait to see that 40 pound clippie on you - you've really done a fabulous job!

Hope you have a wonderful day today "on the beach!". :sunny:

Sweetie you are always welcome to post in my journal! You are such an inspiration to me that I love hearing from you.

Fauxtatoes Deluxe
1 head cauliflower
1/3 cup cream (I used soy milk though)
4 ounces cream cheese
1 Tbsp Butter
Salt and Pepper

Simmer cauliflower in water with the cream added to it (Keeps cauliflower sweet and prevents it from turning gray.) When soft drain Thoroughly

Put the still warm cauliflower in food processor with the cream cheese, butter, and salt and pepper to taste and process until smooth. (You may have to do this in more then on batch)

Yields 6 gnerous serving, each with 6 grams of carbs and 2 grams of fiber for a total fo 4 carbs.

Hope you enjoy them!

March 7, 2004 (Monday) Day 99 on the Beach

I wore my "skinny" jeans yesterday. It was so nice to fit into them. They are snug - but they are 3 sizes smaller than the pair I was wearing back in November before South Beach! I know it's a combo of SBD and the FIRM. Right now my bottom is pretty sore from doing those hover squats - I hate hover squats but they apparently do the job they are designed to do! :) Anyway, about my jeans, they were pretty tight on me but I don't care. I wore them to the office supply store and had on a big oversized top and felt pretty good. Okay, except for when I started turning blue and gasping for air at the cash register but other than that I was fine. Really :). I know one day I'll put them on and they will button up no problem. It was just nice to put a design size 20 jeans on for the first time in years.

Menu:
B: 1/2 bowl of ww flakes with 1% milk and 3 slices of bacon
S: 1 juicy orange
L: 2 grilled fish fillets and a salad with lf ranch dressing
S: Dannon light and fit yogurt (peach)
D: beef stroganoff over long grain converted rice and 1 small sugar free chocolate pudding cup

Exercise/Water Gauge:
I did FIRM cardio sculpt for my work out this morning. Water level was 4.5. Not too bad.

That's a wrap for Monday! If I can make it through the rest of today (Tuesday afternoon and evening), I will have completed the 100 day cheat free challenge. That's an accomplishment I will be very proud of. I will check in tomorrow morning and update my trip report.

Ariel'sDad - I'm sorry you up 1.5 pounds. I have to check with out your journal and see what's going on with you. I know you can lose that pesky 1.5 pounds easily! Most men seem to lose faster and easier than women. But we love our men anyway! :)

Lisa - Hi! The ww pasta is just delicious. I don't think I would have even able to tell it was whole wheat unless I knew up front. The coloring is a bit different but I think it tastes pretty much the same.

Doe - thanks for the support. I hope to earn that clippie next week. I don't seem to lose more than 1 pound per week these days. I'm fine with it - it's just a bit frustrating when you want the weight off yesterday!

Amanda - thanks so much for the recipe. I don't have a food processor but this recipe sounds yummy enough that maybe I can convince DH we really need one:). How's the FIRM work outs going for you? I know from our thread you are doing very well. Take care!

I don't havea food processor either I cut the pieces as small as I can and then put it in a blender. The firm workouts are going well, hopefully it won't be a struggle for much longer.

HEY z... its been a while, I see your doing good! and in your skinny jeans again. thats great! Just wanted to stop by and see how you were also, I had to tell you I am finally in the CHEAT FREE group! only 2 days so far but very excited! and I have you to thank for that!
take care
renee

Lisa: You are doing awesome! So close to that 40 lb clippie - too cool!

I've got a pair of skinny jeans on today too...wishing they were a little looser through the waist but they actually fit very comfortably through the hips and thighs. I think the best part of sticking with plan is getting into those things in my closet I couldn't part with. A good broken pair of jeans ranks number 1 with me.

I take the "teacher" test this Saturday with DH - with me luck. You inspired me to think about going back to school - now what about you?

keep up the great work!

-Laurie

March 9, 2004 (Tuesday) Day 100 (woohoo) on the Beach

Picture a band playing and balloons and confetti falling from the ceiling. It's my 100 Day Cheat Free Party and everyone's invited!!! :)

Thanks so much Beth for having confidence in me making it even though I hadn't posted yet. It does feel very good to get to this point. I don't look at it as an "I've arrived" type of thing but an "I'm on my way" type of accomplishment. I am proud of myself but I'm not sure what I want to do from this point forward.

Do I need to continue to keep a journal? That one has been on my mind a lot. I know it helps me in so many ways and perhaps I shouldn't mess with a winning formula. I've never journalized before even though so many people on so many different programs recommended it. I thought it was silly to write down what you eat. It made me feel like a grade schooler. But it has been so helpful to not only write my feelings down but what I have eaten so I can see that I went 2 days with no veggies or didn't drink enough water. Journaling even helps me exercise on those mornings when I don't want to get out of bed! I think sometimes to myself that I don't want to have to write in my journal I didn't work out when I was supposed to and dissapoint myself. I guess that's my answer. I'll plug on with the journaling, at least until I'm at my next 10% goal which will hopefully be the beginning of June.

Menu:
B: 1/2 bowl of ww flakes with 1% milk and 2 small sausage patties
S: a sweet and juicy orange (yummy)
L: leftover beef stroganoff over long grain converted rice
S: Dannon light and fit yogurt (strawberry)
D: forget to take out something for dinner so we ordered pizza and I ate toppings off 3 slices and had a salad with lf ranch dressing then I finished a sf pudding cup I started the night before

Execise/Water Gauge:
No exercise today. It's a needed rest day - my butt was really sore and needed a break! The FIRM is no joke! Water was 4.5 today. Not too bad.

That's a wrap for the first 100 days of SBD for me and DH! We are both doing very well. In fact, DH wore a suit to a meeting last night that was so big on him he looked just awful swimming in it. I told him I was burning that suit. It was ridiculous big on him and even he said that was the last time he was wearing it. Thank goodness. I hope to be able to claim my 40 pound clippie on Sunday, I'm so close just 1.5 more pounds. We'll see.

Amanda - thanks for sharing your recipe with me and giving me your tricks of the trade too! I do want to try this dish as I've heard it's really good. Keep up your great progress with the FIRM! I'll see you on our thread!

Renee - 2 cheat free days, yippee!!!! You are on your way. I know you can do it. Thanks for stopping by to encourage me!

Laurie - Hi! Thanks for checking on me! I'm so excited for you. I know you'll make a great teacher. I've decided to take a little detour around my original plan. I have been offered, at least I hope I am accepted, I should say, into an excellerated spanish program where my goal is to do missionary work and eventually go to the Dominic Republic. It really isn't that far fetched because I have several friends there now and my DH's father is married to a lady there and that's where they live. It's an exciting program and I hope to hear in the next few weeks if I am accepted. Please keep me informed of your progress. I am so excited for you!!!

Beth - again thanks for the early congratulations! I really appreciate all the encouragement and inspiration you give me. I truly don't think I could be this successful without all the help and support I get from my WISH friends.

Hi Lisa!:sunny:

I'm pulling up a blanket and joining you on the beach starting this coming monday! I'm still eating 'Atkins' way right now so I'm not off track. Just need some time to do the shopping and be prepared to start this new plan. I've done Atkins since June 2002 so this is going to be a little different. I'm hoping it will be what I need to get the weight moving in the right direction again. I'm looking forward to reading your journal this afternoon to give me lots of ideas and inpiration. You often mention "WW cereal". Is this WW for weight watcher or Whole Wheat, ??. I think I see your posts at lowcarbfriends beach thread too. I haven't posted there but I've been lurking.

So, if you have room on the beach -- I'm going to join you. BUT, you may need to hold the sun umbrella for me until I'm ready to get my feet wet.
:sunny:

Hi Jody!

Welcome welcome welcome to the Beach! The water is just fine and I've got a lovely chaise lounge right by a palm tree just for you!

Yep, that's me on the lowcarbfriends site! I love it over there too. The WISH and lowcarbfriends site both give me so much encouragement. Please post on our SBD challenge thread - we'd love to have you. As you have been lurking then you know the ladies are friendly and very encouraging, just like on WISH.

You are so funny asking about ww cereal. When I saw someone on lowcarbfriends posting ww bread I thought she meant weight watchers too at first. It took me a little while to realize she meant whole wheat! So yes that's what it means.

Looking forward to seeing you post on both SBD threads (WISH and lowcarbfriends). Take care.

Oh, if you are going to read my journal, I hope you won't end up needing glasses from the eye strain. I can be very long winded. You have been warned! :)

Lisa, I posted to your 100 cheat free days thread on the main WISH board, but I wanted to come here and post to your journal too!

:jumping1: AMAZING!! :jumping1:

Congratulations on 100 cheat free healthy living SBD days!!!

Lisa you are an inspiration to so many of us here and I feel honored that you've shared the first hundred days of your journey with us! You've worked hard and had so much patience and persistence - I am in awe!!!

Thanks for inspiring me to be better at my own healthy living journey!! I look forward to your many successes to come!! :sunny:
