Liquor Policy On DCL?

Can anyone who has recently cruised on Disney Cruise Line happen to
know the Liquor Policy for what we are allowed to bring onboard when
we cruise? Is it one bottle of wine or liquor per cabin?

You can bring as much as you can reasonably CARRY on. You just can't check the bag (or whatever) with porters, you must carry it yourself until you have access to your room.

It is unlimited. Bring whatever you want but per DCL's policy it must be brought onboard in your carry on bags, not checked bags. I would suggest something with wheels as you may be dragging it around a bit before rooms are ready.

DCL has a very liberal alcohol policy but they also ask that what you bring onboard be consumed in your cabin and not in public places.

And if you choose to pack it and it breaks and damages another person's luggage, be prepared to financially compensate said person for the damage.

Really you can bring as much as you want. It just has to be in carry on bags. There's no limit to how many carry on bags you have (only size 22X14X9). It's important to remember that you have to wrangle those bags until your room is ready.

Does Disney still prohibit liquor stores from delivering purchases to the ship? The last time we were on Disney in St. Thomas, we had to carry our purchases back because they wouldn't accept deliveries. On other lines, we have always been able to have them delivered to the ship.

Also, I think I know the answer to this but... If you do purchase liquor at a port are there any problems getting through US customs if you have opened it? We want to pick up some in St. Thomas but wanted to open it while on board. I just didn't want customs to have a problem with us bringing a partial bottle back to the US.

They may have a problem with open containers, since they have no way of knowing what's in them.

DCL doesn't accept private deliveries to the ship in any foreign port. The only place this can be an issue is Grand Cayman, as their laws require all duty free purchases of alcohol on the island must be delivered to the ship. There are, however, a couple of liquor stores near the port that will hand walk your purchase to the security gate and hand it off to you once you've passed security.

Note GC Shops are closed on Sunday's.

Thanks, I was afraid that was still the answer. Oh well, I guess we'll hold off and do our liquor purchases on our next RCL eastern instead.

From the DCL website:

Guests ages 21 and older may bring alcohol onboard, the following guidelines apply:

  • Alcohol brought on board may not be consumed in any lounge or public area.
  • Guests who arrive in the dining room with a bottle of champagne or wine that has been brought on board will be charged a corking fee of $20.00 per bottle.
  • Beverages must be packed in your carry-on bag—which must not exceed 22 inches wide, 14 inches high and 9 inches deep in dimension
  • Coolers filled with personal items (e.g. soda, alcohol, chips, candy, etc.) may not be brought on board.

Please note: Disney Cruise Line reserves the right to remove fragile items (including beverages) from checked luggage. In such cases, items will be stored and returned at the end of the voyage. Beverage containers are considered fragile and have previously caused damage in checked luggage. All fragile items must be transported inside carry-on luggage.

As you see above, you can take a bottle of wine or champagne to the MDR, but other than that the rules prohibit carry-on alcohol consumption outside of your stateroom.

Bring as much alcohol as you can. LOL! We spent like $500 on alcohol on board.

Wine is our hobby at home. I don't think we spent $500 all of last year....let alone in a week. Please don't tell me you went on a 3 day cruise.:rainbow:
