We are going to Disneyworld in 2 weeks with our daughters. One is a Lion King fanatic. Could you please share with me any Lion King attractions, picture opportunities, etc. that there might be. Also, is Simba a character that we would ever meet in the park, or are the characters typically upright animals? Thank you!

Gotta love The Lion King! Here are all the references I can think of...

1. "The Festival of the Lion King" at Animal Kingdom's Camp Minnie-Mickey
2. " Character Greeting Trails at Animal Kingdom's Camp Minnie-Mickey
3. "Circle of Life: An Environmental Fable" in Epcot's The Land Pavillion
4. "Mickey's Philharmagic" in the Magic Kingdom's Fantasyland - 'I Just Can't Wait to Be King' segment
5. "Fantasmic!" nighttime spectacular at the Disney-MGM Studios - couple of scenes

Here are links for finding meet-and-greet characters, from WDWAutographs.com
Timon
Rafiki

The part of Mickey's Philharmagic that has Simba is my absolute favorite part! Simba comes right out at you thanks to the whole 3-d thing!

Rafiki's Planet Watch at Animal Kingdom is usually where you'll find Rafiki.

And you can't do better than Festival of the Lion King!

get right over to AK and see Festival of the Lion King! If you want souvenirs, they had a Lion King cart in Camp MinnieMickey with just Lion King stuff.

I would guess you won't meet Simba, but he shows up in the Festival, riding a float. Timon and Rafiki seem to be everywhere.

as far as Simba goes, there is a statue out front of the Animal Kingdom entrance. at least it was there in Sept. 2003, and we took pictures there with Rafiki and Timon. It is Simba sitting on the ledge like in the movie, but as far as being a meet and greet, to my knowledge there is not one.

hope that helps some,

dina  12 1/2 days to go and we will be touching disney property!

Your daughter (and whole family) will be blown away by the Festival of the Lion King show in Animal Kingdom. You MUST go and see this. It is absolutely fantastic, broadway quality and so uplifting. You'll love it!!!!!

Festival of the Lion King is a must see. And if it's raining you might be even luckier. I was there two years ago and it was raining quite hard so there weren't many people there. We got to sit in the handicapped section right on the floor. Up close and personal. :earsgirl:

There's a character dinner with Timon and Rafiki on Friday nights at Gulliver's at the Swan.

We've seen Rafiki in Adventureland, which is also a good area for Lion King souvies. The cart previously mentioned is great for Lion King souvenir opportunities.

I've read that some have had their picture taken with the Simba float after the Festival shows, but I've never tried.

I love the festival of the lion king!!

Timon and Turk are also in Mickey's jammin' jungle expedition parade in Animal Kingdom.
