Can U Tourist tickets be linked from home before you go?

I heard there's so difficulty in linking these tickets and if that's the case, that you have to wait until you arrive, or spend hours on the phone trying to link them, then to me, it's probably not worth the $10 savings trying to solve the problem.

Let me know your experience in linking U Tourist tickets.

Thanks

Chris

1- Yes.
2- Many do not have any problems at all.
Others have problems even without UT tickets.
Luck of the draw (and glitchy software.)

I bought my tickets from UT and had almost no problem registering tickets with My Disney Experience. The only trouble I had was registering the ticket for my daughter's friend who was on my reservation. The system created a doppelganger of our guest separate from the reservation. I "fixed" the problem by transferring the entitlements from the doppelganger to the guest on our reservation. MagicBand and FP+ worked with no further trouble.

My experience has been fine, no problems at all. Have linked several at various times. My savings per ticket were $16, and quite a bit more, $66, on one AP.

Also, if buying UT, maybe link off Mary's Mousesaver newsletter for a few extra dollars of saving.

We linked UCT tickets with no problems. It seems the UCT SPECIFIC problems have been dealt with...at least from the reports I've heard.

BUT...there are still Disney tech issues which are irrespective of ticket type that could crop up.

Take the savings....especially if you can find a special on UCT. We bought 5 day tickets and upgraded them to 6 day tickets...because the 5 day tickets were a lot more than $10 cheaper than Disney prices, and then it only cost us about 10 a ticket for the upgrade once we were at WDW.

You can link them. The only problem I have heard about (and experienced) is trying to decipher the '0' from the 'O' on the ticket reference. All of mine linked no problem on our last trip though.

Linking worked fine with me. "Scan" the tickets' bar codes using the app rather than manually typing in the ticket numbers. I think most of the difficulty with linking tickets is from people mis-typing the ticket numbers (especially "O" vs. "0").

I was able to link 5 tickets with no problems before I even had the tickets into hand. Super quick and easy.

Thanks for all the quick responces. It certainly sounds like it will work.

Two follow up questions:

I've never heard of "doppelganer??" What does that mean?

And didn't know you can purchase AP through U Tourist??

Thanks again.

A doppelganger is a German word for somebody who looks like you (kind of like a secret twin). I assume the previous poster meant a ghost guest. I had that on my DD's account because she had added me but it hadn't linked properly. We just removed the erroneous name and it was fine.

As far as the APs, you cannot buy an AP from Undercover Tourist. The poster probably meant that they bought discounted tickets from UT, used them once so the price could be 'bridged' and then upgraded to an AP thereby saving money on the regular cost.

Interesting. So.....if I understand you correctly, I could buy the 4 day Undercover Tourist tix which are the the ones that seems to have the biggest discount, then upgrade at Disney when I get there. At Disney I would pay the difference between the 4 and 6 day ticket, right?

I had this problem, (0 vs O). Figured it out, the 0 (zero) has a line through it.

Yes. But it might not be the best deal....

You could buy the 4 day (+1 free) hoppers and do the same thing, if you're looking to park hop.

I haven't sat down and figured out all the current permutations/sales, though. For us, and usually of late, the best deal with base tickets (no added options) is the 5 day upgraded to a 6 day. The upgrade is only about $10 (+tax) per ticket once on property...and it's only about $1 more expensive than the 4 day ticket via UCT. Essentially, you're getting 6 days for $11 more than a 4 day via UCT. That same 4 day, upgraded to 6 days at Disney, is going to run you roughly $20 for the upgrade (+tax). You save $9 per ticket going the 5 day to 6 day vs going the 4 day to 6 day.

I'm using the Mousesavers Newsletter link...but not sure if that matters.

Also, one thing to keep in mind: The UCT ticket prices inlcude tax and shipping. Disney's "per ticket" prices, on their web site, do not. It shows up in the subtotal (at least the tax does), but not in the per ticket prices.

So when you all are linking your tickets, I am assuming you all are staying onsite? UT told me that because we are staying offsite, I cannot link my tickets until we arrive at the park. I have the MDE app but wasn't sure it would be useful to me since we are offsite.

Did you try to link your tickets yet?

You WILL need to do that, at least at some point, to get FP+ in the parks.
Don't know if the app will let you, but it's worth getting done for all members of your party, if possible.

I just did. It was pretty easy and no worries about inputting the numbers, just scanned the bar code and it took it all in. Of course then it tried to get me to do the magic band thing that we do not have, but it looks like it at least has our tickets scanned in. Thanks! :)
