Thanks for the positive review! I think we're going to order one we just need a theme. Lumar wants pirates, I want lion king.... I think I've got him convinced to go with an Aladdin theme since that's his favorite Disney movie and Jasmine is my favorite princess.....

Now to change our ADRs! (Again :rolleyes1)

OK.... this was my plan:

10/21:
Cancel ADR at Mama's and replace it with an ADR at Grand Floridian Cafe

10/24:
Cancel ADR at H & V and replace it with a new ADR at Mama's

This way, I could:
- get rid of H & V
- get to have a fantastical cake made by Pat at the GF bakery and having the whole week to eat the leftovers
- still get to eat dinner at Mama's
- be able to take advantage of PM EMH on the 24th.

I was able to make the ADR for the GFC at 5:15pm on 10/21 :thumbsup2
I canceled Mama's for 10/21 :thumbsup2
I canceled H & V for 10/24 :thumbsup2
But I can not get a new ADR for Mama's on 10/24 :sad2:

So I will have to keep trying and if nothing becomes available then we will probably just eat QS that night before Fantasmic.

Signing onto your PTR! I love everything you have planned so far!

The cakes do look awesome! I especially love the HM one. However, I wouldn't recommend doing it, especially because the # of people in your party is small. It seems like a lot of cake.

Maybe instead of a cake, you could order a Cinderella Slipper as "dessert" at the GF? You will still get something special but it will be cheaper and you wouldn't have to worry about eating it all week (although that does sound awesome).

I was tempted by the cake and the wishes dessert party as well, but I think I am going to get the slippers as the "something special". They would be cheaper than the dessert party or a cake.

Thanks for following along!

I thought about the Cinderella Slippers and they also do make smaller, one person size cakes which I'm still considering:

They also do two-tier personal size cakes:

So it's something to think about but I have time!

Well, as I said before, I have not been able to get an ADR at Mama Melrose's for 10/24. I made a "temporary" ADR for Sci-Fi for 3:20pm just so that we have something to eat as Lumar is not crazy about settling for QS.

That being said.... I was not going to mention this because I know he lurks but I was going to "surprise" him by making our cake a "Happy Anniversary" cake since 11/2 will be our 7th anniversary (although we're not married...7 years is a long time and deserves a cake, IMO! :lmao: ) But he kept driving me crazy saying he wanted a Pirates cake so I ended up blurting out that this was OUR cake for OUR anniversary and I did NOT want it to be PIRATES!!

So now you know why I'm so obsessed with the idea....I just wish it was easier to choose a theme for it. Better yet, I wish HE would surprise ME with a cake! HINT HINT! (oops did I say that outloud? ) of course, if I left it up to him I would end up with a "Happy Anniversary Ya Scurvy Dogs!" Captain Barbossa cake.....:sad2:

ETA: I checked the ressie system again and there was an opening at Sci-Fi for 4:35pm so I switched to that one instead! I'll still keep checking for Mama's but for now, I'm happy with what I've got.

Those cakes are SO beautiful! I love the little Cinderella ones! :) I can see why you are obsessed with them now, if I had something to celebrate, I'd definitely get one! I wish I got one for my Disneymoon! Oh well! :rotfl:

There's always your anniversary! Althought I did see a BEAUTIFUL Happy Holidays one on the Cake Chatter thread....let me go find the link for you :thumbsup2 Not that I'm trying to be an enabler or anything...:rolleyes1

Those holiday cakes are so cute! I really like that last one with the penguins! Hmmmm...now I want to order a cake! :rotfl:

I LOVE Sci-Fi, so I think you should stick with it. It's a must for us every trip. I've been told that you can order the (wonderful) burger for dinner even though it's not on the dinner menu, too.

I had a cake made as a surprise for my family last December; Brian made it. The whole experience was fantastic and the cake was great! There are pictures of it in my vacation albums on FB, if you'd like to see it! (It was a Mickey's Christmas Carol theme.)

I love that penguin cake! The "ice" effects are so cute!

The last time we ate at Sci-Fi was 2007 and it wasn't all that great but I'm much more willing to give Sci-Fi another chance than Brown Derby. I'm satisfied (for now :) )

I'm gonna head over and look at your cake now! I'm glad you have a good experience! I wanted Brian to do ours but I'm not crazy about the dinner menu at The Wave and Lumar doesn't like seafood so going to California Grill wouldn't work. Pat at the GF does really nice work too so I'm looking forward to working with her.

I can't believe our trip is so close! I'm really starting to get excited! :hyper:

Mike's reservations have been canceled. :sad1:

I'm really bummed out because I really wanted him to go with us. But with the Halloween Party Tickets, he needed to come up with $1400 before September 4 and it just wasn't going to happen for him. Lumar and I could not afford to pay for it, knowing that we would not get paid back anytime soon.

So I called Disney and canceled his reservation for the room and park tickets. I will get credited the $250 deposit I made sometime in the next 7-10 business days.

I called JetBlue and canceled his flight...they charged $100 fee and put the remaining balance in my Travel Bank so I can use it to book next years flight I guess...but I told Mike he owes me the $100 fee.

I also asked Disney about the tickets for MNSSHP. She told me that officially, she has to say that the tickets are non-refundable but I can call Ticket Services tomorrow and talk to them about possibly getting refunded. It would be great if we could get that money back but I won't hold my breath since the confirmation email that I have clearly states they are non-refundable.

So even though I'm bummed out, I know it's for the best.

3 months from today I will be happily packing our suitcases!!! :dance3:

ETA: I forgot to mention that I also changed all of our ADRs from 3 people to 2 people, and I was able to snag a 4:50pm ADR at Sci-Fi on 10/24. I think now, I'm officially satisfied with our ADRs. Now to consider horseback riding and our anniversary cake....

Sorry Ali, I know you wanted him to go. At least you know one way or the other and are not caught wondering.
I have started making changes to our ADR's as well. I added the Yachtsman Steakhouse:woohoo: I took off Teppon Edo. I hope it is good. I don't have a fancy pallet so I pretty much like basic things! I bet they refund the ticket for MNSSHP because it is so much in advance. You are going in a busier time of the month so they will be able to sell the tickets.

I really like those personal cakes! Maybe I will have to reconsider my choice! =)

Mike's reservations have been canceled. :sad1:

That is a bummer! I am sure you will have fun anyway, but it would have been nice to share that time with him.

Ali,
I just saw that the wishes dessert party has been extended through December. Maybe you could do that as a anniversary surprise instead of cake, or in addition to!

I am so sorry. That is quite the bummer. I hope you can get his tickets refunded. So now it will just be the two of you? Maybe that is better since you will be celebrating your anniversary.

I hope so. It's $110 for both nights and I would really hate to make Mike try to find the money to pay us back for that too.

They are cute, right? I am bummed, but again, I know it's for the best. There is always next year!

I'll have to look into that! Thanks for letting me know!

I kind of randomly decided to make it an anniversary trip since I needed an excuse to order a cake....:rolleyes1 But now it's one less person we have to worry about and we can really try and make up for last year since it was such an emotionally stressing time. Iit will be nice to go back and really enjoy every second of it, just the two of us.

So I called Ticket Services this morning and the very nice CM I spoke to, Shirley, was able to refund us for Mike's MNSSHP tickets. I'm happy we're able to get the money back but still bummed he can't join us.

In other news, I think I may have come up with an idea for our cake! :hyper:

I am glad they refunded the tickets and can't wait to hear your ideas (and the finished product when the time comes)!
