Link reservations...what happens to our FP+??

I currently have 2 consecutive reservations for October. The first one is for two nights and the second one is for the next three nights. We are booked in a 2BR standard at AKV-K but I waitlisted for ONLY the first 2 nights in a standard 2BR at BWV.

My initial plan was to wait until inside the 30 day window on the slim chance that the waitlist filled and then have MS combine the reservations so that we do not have to check out and check in or risk having to move. Then it dawned on me...we make our FP+ reservations in just 9 more days. If I secure the FP+ that I want, then MS combines our two reservations into one, what happens to my FP+?? I assume that they are linked to the reservation number and if that changes, wouldn't our FP's get cancelled?

Right now, I'm thinking I should give up on the waitlist and just combine the reservations before our FP window opens. I figured that my best chance of the WL to fill would be after the 30-day window but I don't think I should risk losing our FP+ choices.

Your FP+ should be fine as long as you don't cancel a qualifying reservation that allows FP+ selections to be made.

So as it is now when your window opens you will only be able to make FP+ for the 1st res. Then a few days later the 2nd. If later you combine them the system will see the 1 reservation and it should allow the FP+ to stay.

If it was me I would keep the waitlist and merge the reservation now. Make sure the waitlist is set to NOT cancel the reservation. I would then call MS to remove the extra days if my WL comes in.

NOTE: 2 nights in a standard 2BR at BWV in OCT just 2 months out does not sound very promising. May I suggest just enjoy AK for the entire trip and save the stress of the Wait List/FP+ questions.

Oh I have been on the waitlist since 8am on the day my 7-month window opened. I still don't hold out much hope for it to fill.
