Decided to take a trip over the Veteran's day since my kid has a few days off. I was lucky enough to rent DVC points for Nov. 11 - 15 but really wanted Nov. 8 - 14. I'm also trying to use FF miles but can't find a rt award. However I can use the FF miles to book 2 one way tickets on Continental. I'd still have to purchase 2 one way tickets and have been checking for about 2 weeks, but the non-stop Flight I want (more expensive than a rt), just won't come down in fare.
I'm getting nervous about the airfare since the FF awards could be gone at any time. Every trip my airfares and dates never seem to align.
Do you book your flights around hotel availability, or do you pick your dates and just accept the airfare at price you can swallow? Thanks for the advice!

I get tickets well after we have booked our DVC room but still several months before our arrivale date. I pay for flights that are in my
