Line etiquette - holding spots

Happy to report had no problem with line jumpers with my trip last week. I was gearing up to have to fight people from what people talk about on here and in the past I have had trouble. Everything was fine this time though!

I will say I had two three year olds that are recently potty trained and never once did we have to leave line for a thing. Not once. So if I can do it with my two, I really don't see why others with kids have to all the time. I made them pee before we got in line. I had pullups on them just in case. I made sure we had snacks before we got in line. I would not wait in any line over 15 minutes and would do fast pass instead to avoid line leaving. It was fine.

So here is one mommy of young kids saying that you don't have to leave line all the time just cause you have kids. We never did.

We did save spots at Fantasmic with two adults going in first and saving spots for two adults and two kids. It was not a problem though.

I agree. We took DD when she was 2 and potty trained and never had to leave and rejoin a line. I try to understand when others have to, at least they're not really "cutting" if they were actually in the line first, but you're right, there really shouldnt' be a need. Use FP, make many trips to the bathroom BETWEEN rides, etc. We didn't use Pull-ups and we still didn't have a problem. However, we've always travelled in May. I could see that at Christmas time, etc, ALL the lines are probably really long, and I could be understanding about this.

To have one person holding a place on a attraction line while the other members is riding another line is rude. What you are saying is that your time is more important than everyone else's is. Your family is too important to wait in line.

:worship: Exactly!!!

I just want to point out the items in bold. First, I don't think anyone is saying this happens "all the time". Even if someone sees this happen in every line they get in, I'm pretty sure it's going to be different families.

Next, you were going during a low crowd time (as evidenced by the 15 minute or less wait time). Try taking those two during the summer months or during the Christmas-New Years rush. Using FP isn't always an option... even during those times. It's possible all the FP are gone for the day, or people are using standby to "burn off" time while waiting for their FP... isn't that what you're supposed to do?

I'm glad you enjoyed your vacation, but you can't exactly use your example to say what should happen every time.

The worst thing at Disney is those who "mug cut". If I'm waiting to refill my mug at the resort and I see one person in front of me I think "Ok, maybe a 10 second wait, up to 15 seconds if they get ice". Then they take out their families' three other mugs and start to fill them and I'm like "Oh no, I don't think so!" Now I may be waiting up to 60 seconds for my carbonated beverage. How rude.

Well a unusual thing happened on Saturday while DD and I were at DHS. While waiting for the backlot tour. The people started the tour. Well a guy came near the railing and said he had taken his daughter to the bathroom and his wife was waiting-which she was waving to him. So he and his daughter went and caught up with her.

As he was entering the line: he told his family members or friends who were now at the railing to come on. So guess everyone had to go to the bathroom. They saw how many people they would have to go through and told him to go on. So that was a surprise.

I also don't see the problem with holding spots for a parade. As long as the spots are clearly marked there is no misconception that you had a chance to sit there. Solution: get there earlier. I can see line cutting poses a problem because it alters your expectation of a wait time (as well as the estimated time that Disney posts). I don't think someone holding the line for 10 adults is right, yet I don't think if a kid has to use the bathroom they should have to start all over again or risk citizen's arrest by a Disney vigilante. That doesn't seem very Disney to me.

next time i go.. i am going to make sure and hold spots in line for my friends/family and even complete strangers :rolleyes1

Exactly. If a line is only 15 minutes, chances are no one is going to have to run out to pee. If the line is an hour and a half, I would think that at least some wee ones might need to...wee.:upsidedow

Congratulations. But how is this even remotely relevant to anyone else?

I don't see a problem with this at all. Or if I was in line and a family was in front of me and the young child was having a meltdown from waiting, i would have no problem with them taking the kid out to keep them busy and then coming back and meeting up with their group. It just doesn't matter to me. Oh, maybe i have to wait 30 more seconds. Who cares, it's justnot that big of a deal.

This. And if my 10 month old has a meltdown in line...I hope the people behind me will be understanding. It might be in the best interest for everyone (the people behind me included)!
