I dont have to worry about the whoppers anymore cuz I ATE THEM ALL! Yes I gained a little too but maybe it'll be gone by tomorrow. :teeth:

As I write this now I am sitting in bed, foot propped up with an icebag on my knee, eating carrot sticks dipped in pesto. :crazy: Yes I screwed up. Remember a couple of days ago when I said my knees were hurting? Well they were still hurting (just a little) this morning when I went out to do my walk/run thing. It hurt, but I KEPT GOING ANYWAY. No pain no gain. After 2 times around, I was really hurting pretty bad, and decided I should walk the 3rd time around. But when I got to the time when I was supposed to run I just thought....aw heck..you can do it dont wimp out! So I kept going. I got about 3/4ths of the way around and in the middle of the run part I had to stop and pretty much just limp the rest of the way home. The 3 laps took 43 mins (usually its 41). I hobbled in the house and got ready for work. I was still able to walk so I thought it would be better in a few minutes. So I gimped along to work. This is my "briefing" day so for the first hour I was sitting in a meeting. When I got up I could hardly move! I still thought...no big deal...its because I was sitting too long. So I decided to take a job where I can walk around for the first job of the day. You know...walk it off...loosen it up so I will feel better. After an hour of that it was obvious I was in trouble. :guilty: I finally had to ask to come home. A couple of the guys at work told me I must have pulled it and I need to put ice on it. So here I am...on my behind ...doing nothing...I can feel myself gaining weight as I write this. :sad2:

The bad thing is...this saturday is Thunder. Thunder is this really great party with about a million or so ppl down on the riverfront. There is an awesome airshow (Blue Angels are coming this year!) and then the biggest fireworks display in the country. I ALWAYS go. I have tickets to a baseball game (the stadium is right on the river) and we watch the show from there. I am taking the boy and 3 of his friends. However....you have to park MILES away from the river and walk. Then walk back to the car among the THRONGS of crazy ppl trying to get out of town after its over. There is NO WAY I can gimp my way thru that mass of people. I am very worried about it right now with the amount of pain I am in.(my boy will DIE if we cant go)

Anyway, I'm all iced up and maybe its not as bad as I think right now.

BTW..marie..I have lost 64 lbs so far...but nothing the last 4? weeks I think. Its seriously torquing me off!

Man Linda...I hate it that you hurt yourself!! that sucks!! keep the ice on it and hopefullly it will be better by the weekend. Aside from the Whoppers, you are doing great w/ your food...even though you're laid up for now, you are still eating right and that's important.

Congrats on the 64 lbs!! that's awsome!!

Still in pain today, but I wore a knee brace and at least was able to stay at work for my whole shift. With the brace off it is still in pretty bad shape. Sure hope it improves soon.

Oh, Linda! I'm so sorry that you hurt your knee! That is terrible! I hope that it gets better Quick! and definitely in time for the weekend! pixiedust: for good measure. I am counting myself Very lucky right now. I think I came very close to really hurting myself yesterday. I am going to try to learn from you and Quit pushing through the pain. :guilty: I am bad about that.

I think you are still doing really good with your food. Be patient and that will pay off for you. I also think it might be good for you to not exercise for a few days. I know being forced out of it is totally different, but our bodies need a break sometimes.

If you had to walk during your shift yesterday at all then I Definitely agree w/ Marie that it should count for something! Hobbling around is Very hard work.

Thanks Marie and Amber for your good wishes. I am still hurting today, but I think its a little better. No exercise today tho. I hurt all over basically, I think from the stress of limping. Makes my muscles sore or something. Very irritating...I dont have time for this!

Thanks Marie. you could too do nutrisytem. It just takes awhile to figure out which little cardboard boxes of food are good and which ones are nasty yuck.

I was bad yesterday and forgot to log my food. It wasnt good, but not too bad. I had some graham crackers so that probably put me a little over in calories. I spent the day trying to make my knees feel better. This is making me nuts. I tried ice packs and knee braces and hot packs and resting it and moving it and well everything. So I went to the DR today and the verdict was shin splints. That confused me a little cuz I thought it was my knees. Anyway its the muscle that attaches my knee to my shin. The Dr seemed a little surprised about how hot the muscle was and prescribed an anti-inflammatory first. He also said I need to change my workout . No hills. Softer surface. I'm not sure how I can do that. (He really was suggesting a treadmill) I think maybe I could somehow alter my intervals so that I'm only running in the flat parts? It will obviously change the timing so if anyone has any experience with this type thing let me know. My neighborhodd is a little hilly and there isnt any way I can skip the hilly parts. (except to wallk then) Anyway I was encouraged that he didnt just say...well you cant run anymore (which is what everyone else has been telling me) He also gave me a referral to a physical therapy place that specializes in sports injuries and thinks they can help me set up a program to help this. So I am assuming that means there is some way to build up the muscles there so this can be solved? :confused3

Anyway, thats that...I decided I am going to Thunder anyway. I am just going to hobble. They have a bus service that will take me downtown and I will only have to walk 5 blocks or so. (If I parked myself I might have to walk way further than that) I dont want to miss it , it is too fun. The Blue Angels will be there, and that is unusual. Later yall

Linda, try to take it easy until you see the PT....my dh had to do that when they found out he had heel spurs...in both feet.....ouch!!! they gave him a routine that he followed and he really hasn't had any problems since. good luck.

(kim & i both answered you on my journal about Bob, but I'll tell you here too....
he is one of the trainers from THE BIGGEST LOSER. They have a workout dvd out and it's pretty good....there are 4 different workouts and they are all good...some high cardio, some weights and core....anyway, kim says you can get it at the stores....walmart, best buy....but i couldn't find it there....i ordered mine from Overstock.com for $8.95....Amazon.com should carry it too.)

Linda, I'm sorry to hear that you are still hurting :( I am glad to hear though that the Dr didn't say NO Running. That is a good thing! :sunny: Some of the people at my work have told me that I should not run when I mention that it seems to hurt Every time I run, but in different places. :confused3 No way man I Will Not Give Up! and neither should you. But you should take it easy for awhile. Hopefully the PT will help! :goodvibes

Keep up the good work on your eating. I know it must be difficult not being able to exercise and not seeing the scale move, but stick with it!

Well I got thru another day. still hurting pretty bad but I have it iced up now and I guess thats about all I can do for now. I am ready for tomorrow. My son has his ratings tomorrow at noon. That is where you go and play your musical piece and they rank you...I'm not sure what they all are...superior and distinguished....He always gets distinguished. Last year on one of the pieces he hadnt even looked at it and told the rater that he had to skip that one and not be rated cuz he hadnt even tried it....but the rater said oh we have time go ahead and try....and he got a distinguished. so I'm not too stressed about this. We leave directly from that to go downtown to Thunder! The weather is supposed to be perfect so there will probably be around a million people there. Last year there was probably only half a million cuz the weather was SOOOO bad. It was about 20 degrees and snowing and the wind was blowing about 30 mph. It was awful but we stayed the whole day anyway. Whenever we do something like that my son says....see mom we can do ANYTHING. Anyway there is an airshow over the river from 3 til 9 then fireworks. Massive amazing fireworks. You wouldnt believe it. Anyway heres what I ate today.

Hi everyone! I survived Thunder...just barely!

Heres what happened. The day started fine. Kevin had percussion ensemble ratings at noon. That all went well. The kids we were taking were supposed to meet us there so we could leave for Thunder right after and save some time. They of course couldnt do it...and I had to go pick them up. (As a separate mini-rant..it is beyond my comprehension how I can offer to take these kids year after year, and just once ask for someone else to step up and do it since I'm in pain, but not only will no one do it...its too much trouble for them to even drive their kids over to meet us to help me out).

Anyway, we were out of the ratings by 12:45 and getting Abby by 1pm. Unfortunately, I71 was shut down and we had to go the long way around to get to the fairgrounds. I had decided to take the "Express Tarc" bus service. We got to the fiargrounds at 2pm. Apparently it didnt occur to the bus service people that 1000's of people would try to do this. The fact that they ran ads every few minutes asking everyone to do it would lead you to believe they would be prepared but no. The line to buy your tickets to get on the bus ran along 3 full sides of the parking lot. It too about 20 mins then we were on the bus. It was 2:39. The Blue angel were scheduled for 3:09. Its maybe a 10 min drive to downtown..supposedly there were bus only routes to downtown so I felt pretty confident we would make it. Until we got on the expressway. And just inched along. When we got downtown we were just 3 blocks from main street and it took us 30 mins from there. I just wanted to get off the bus and walk from there , it would have been better. We got off the bus at 3:25. I was devastated. We were then routed the opposite direction (barricades were up so we couldnt go eastbound toward the ballfield until we went south for a few blocks) So instead of saving walking distance I actually had to walk further. Anyway...it just so happens that the Blue Angels were having mech. probs and were late! So YAY I did get to see them!

So we went to the ballgame and watched the airshow. This is kind of bizarre to watch. These thunderously loud aircraft making low passes overhead while the ballplayers are trying to ignore them and play the game. After the Blue Angels were Lima Lima (aerobatics team), F15. F18, F16. Heritage flight with P51 mustang, apache helos, A10 warthogs, C130s KC35 tanker, a Gull (seaplane) landed on the river and flew UNDER THE SECOND STREET BRIDGE!and there were others but thats all I can remember .

Then was the airshow which was awesome and amazing. It was themed to Thunder Country this year. Im not a country music fan but it was still good. It is HUGE. Its like a grand finally throughout the whole show...then the actual ending they shoot fireworks and waterfalls cascade off the bridge. If you ever have the chance to see it you should.

Okay so food -wise it wasnt so good.

Okay now..getting home...

After the fireworks...800.000 ppl start trying to leave. I am gimping along , the flow of ppl is south, away from the river. We have to go west to get back to the busses. We had to push and dodge our way over, constantly checking that we were all there. Then when we got to 2nd street it was barricaded...and we couldnt get to the busses. Once again we had to go a couple of blocks up and then cross over (against traffic) and then back down. By now I'm hurting pretty bad. Luckily when we got to the busses, instead of going all the way to the end and getting in the back of the line, someone just moved a barricade and we climbed on the 1st bus we got to. (we cheated, but hey, it was a ridiculous system). Unfortunately we didnt get a seat and had to stand up. I am too short to reach the bar they expect you to hold on to so I had to hold onto a seat instead. Once again we very slowly left downtown, but at least once we were on the expressway we moved. Standing up on a bus in really bad if your knees hurt tho. When you make the turns its hard to keep balance and by the end of the trip I was miserable. But we got home by 11:30, which is actually pretty good. I WONT be doing the bus again tho. This was the first time they did this and I would say it needs some "tweaking"

When I got home my son made me a bowl of ice cream with chocolate syrup.



I did manage to get a little exercise today. I walked 30 mins pretty slowly, but still I'm counting it.

This is too long so I'm not putting todays menu on it...but I did eat shrimp at applebees

Okay, I'm a little disheartened. 1 week without (or very limited) exercise and I'm up 3 lbs. I shouldnt be surprised, considering I was exercising about an hour of cardio a day and losing nada. But I really want to get over this hump. Okay. enough whining already.


My boy had a golf match today and did horribly. 55. 3 8's ouch. He was so upset poor thing. I think hes over it now tho. He making a milkshake, that should help. What a sweetie, he gave me a sip! IM NOT LOGGING IT!

Okay, after exercising a little yesterday I'm very sore again today. I have decided that at this point (just a few weeks until vacation) I cant risk not healing and trying to walk around the parks in orlando in pain. So I am not going to worry about my weight for a few weeks and just rest. Hopefully I wont gain too much. My BF just called and said he and his son will be cutting their vacation short and leaving on tuesday (the rest of us will be staying until saturday). I dont mind, he really wasnt too psyched about the vacation and I was afraid he would put a damper on it. So the first few days there will be 5 of us and the last will be just 3. I was going to skip epcot because I figured he would stress about it but now with just me and the boys I think I will add it back in. ( I am the only one who really loves epcot, its the nerd in me)

Well, I am going to take the thought from marie and note what I resisted today and yesterday. Yesterday they brought in Krispy Kremes and sat them right at my station and I didnt have a single bite. Today they went on a breakfast run for biscuits and I didnt order anything at all. Ok. Now what I actually did today. First of all, I left work early cuz I was so tired and hurting. I went home and took a nap. Had 2 little choc. donuts first. This was before 11. I picked up the boy and took him to golf practice at 330 til 5. Then we went to pick up some stuff at walmart. By now its 630 and Im STARVING. So we got KFC. yep. The whole nine yards. Chicken, mashed potatos, biscuit, macncheese. Stuffed myself. Normally I would exercise like crazy to make up for it but thats not an option. BLLLLEECCCHHH. I feel very icky now.

Tomorrow I am going for the weekend with BF. Bourbon sampler. Should be fun.
