Linda's goal = Lose wt + 1/2 marathon 09(encouragement welcome)

Great job on getting in all that activity, Linda!! and your pace is so impressive! I hope you are fueling your runs with carbs and recovering with protein. What is your favorite pre-run food? Have a wonderful weekend!

Whew, finally made it through your whole journal. Can't believe how much you're exercising. Keep going. You're an inspiration.

Your exercise is phenomenal, Linda! Wish I could do half as much!

Hope you're having a good week!

Thanks Guys!

Today ran after work, 3.4 miles in 35:13, a 10:20 pace, not great but after being on my feet for 10+ hrs I'll take it.

Diet could be better.

Linda

LOUSY,LOUSY run today!!!!!!!!! I don't ever remember having such a bad one- ran 2.5 miles and had to walk- WHAT?????????? That is not me.I did go out on my bike for 3.6 miles after that but I was bummed.

I cannot figure out what is going on- hormones are all screwed up I know for sure- but come on! MD put me on 10 days of Provera shouldn't I feel better?

Wt 166, that is ridiculous how that rotten scale won't budge.

Linda

Linda -- Dont' be discouraged. You are doing everything right. We have to keep reminding ourselves that adopting a healthy lifestyle is what is important regardless of what the scale says. We'll keep reminding each other, okay? I hope you feel better and can get in a satisfying run the next time. :cool1:

Thanks Cam I needed that boost!

Off to get groceries now- this is my least favorite thing to do.My DH is doing Atkin's so we are on complete opposite ends of the eating spectrum.

Talk soon!

Linda

I LOVE to grocery shop. To me, it's a game. I start out with a list of things I need and then look for new ingredients with which to conjure a new dish or two. BTW, my Garmin says there is minimal difference between walking a distance and running it. In fact, I am told the long slow distance is a better way to get fit, notwithstanding that someone told me that Jillian Michaels says the only way to lose weight is to run every day. I don't buy that at all.

Thanks Cam,
The long slow distance is great for stamina but not really overall fitness.I proved this training for my marathon this past winter.Yeah I had the miles in but never lost a lb. and could not really pick up the pace- I was stuck at one speed.

I can't believe my friend Jillian would have said to run everyday- a variety is better for weight loss and endurance. Also you risk injury using the same muscles over and over again.

Looking to run today and start doing some weights- AGAIN! I fall off the wagon more than I am on! LOL!

Linda

Linda -- I hope you get a satisfying workout in. I agree that doing a long slow distance does nothing to build up speed. UGH!! I really have to work on that, and I'll have to do it on my own. My friend is training for the Breast Cancer 3Day and I am doing her long walks with her on Saturday mornings and we are not doing them fast at all. I am so worried about losing speed. I may go back to doing Couch to 5k from the beginning and really work on speed, maybe doing that 3 days a week on weekday mornings, and leaving the LongSlowDistance workouts to Saturday mornings.

What kind of weight workouts are you doing? I used to work with a personal trainer one morning a week doing weight training but he quit doing PT and I haven't found another yet. I'd love to hear about your workouts.

Linda-

I just read the entire thread  and all I can say is WOW. I am still dreaming of running those kinds of times. Once. Not even consistently, but just once. My longest distance so far is 7 miles, that was last summer. But we are training now, so soon enough I will be past that.

You are a stong woman, no doubt. Thank you for sharing with us and thanks for stopping by my journal.

I'll see you at the half in January!!:3dglasses

just got back from a 3.1 mile run in 30:28, a 9:49 pace but overall I was dying in the end.I should be able to do more.

After the run went on my bike for 5.38 miles in 25:18- that felt good.

Then did weights.

Hopefully playing tennis later- it is beautiful out there.

Have a great day everyone,
Linda

Linda-

I just looked up where Westfield is, you are only about an hour away from me here in NY!

Today is a beautiful day, I am doing work on my new patio. Digging up sod is serious upper body work.

Tomorrow 6am 6 mile run with the inlaws. I'll be thinking of you, wishing I could match your times!

You are doing an amazing job getting those workouts in, Linda! :thumbsup2 Keep up the good work!:cheer2:

Have a wonderful weekend!

Well officially start my 1/2 training for Applefest tomorrow.

No running today.Biked 6.16 miles in 26:58, a decent pace I guess.

After that did weights and abs.

Then DH and I went to play tennis x 45 mins.It always feels great to use other muscles.

Ugh tomorrow work!

Have a great day all!

Linda

Is today your first day or training? How did it go?

I hope you have a wonderful day!
