Linda's goal = Lose wt + 1/2 marathon 09(encouragement welcome)

 Linda,

I'm sorry to hear about the week you've had.

Did you get the results from the bloodwork? Are you feeling better or are your sinuses still acting up?

I hope next week is a much better week for you! :wizard: Have a great day today!:goodvibes

Thanks Tracy and Veronica,
Bloodwork shows I am in perimenopause- I knew that but at least it didn't say full menopause yet.

Sinuses are still a pain but did yard work all day yesterday and it didn't help.

Hoping to start fresh next week

Have a great day everyone- stay dry, we have rain again everyday next week here.

Linda

I'm sorry to hear that your sinuses are still acting up. :( I hope you feel better soon!

Did you say it's going to rain all week? I haven't been keeping up with the news much lately, but hasn't it been a chilly and soggy summer out your way so far? I hope you see some sunshine soon!:cool2:

Have a great Sunday!

Ran 3 miles this morning in 30:36, a 10:12 pace.Foot still hurts but will be going to the running store on Wed. for new sneakers.

Hope they don't cost an arm and a leg but if this pain goes away it is worth it I guess.

Registered for the Applefest in September- that has me psyched! It was very nice last year.

My weight- OMG not pretty- 170, can't believe I just typed that number- need to get that down.

Went to the gym for a membership to get back to spinning- will do a test run if they let me to make sure it won't hurt my foot.

Have a good one everyone,
Linda

I didn't even get on the scale this week. I am so afraid to.:scared1: I will say that the last few days I have not really had any appetite. We had our big party on Fri and I didn't eat anything until way later, while we were putting food away. Just not hungry. I even passed on Ben and Jerry's tonight. And I love me my ice cream.

New sneakers hopefully will help with the foot. I love new sneakers. Can't wait to get new ones next month.

Congrats on signing up for Applefest. I will be thinking of you when you are running it.

Keep on keepin on-it's all you can do!!

Ran 2.13 yesterday.I am following a training plan for my 1/2- I did plan on going for 3 just to put in the miles but for the first time I was on a track.Glad the plan only called for 2 because OMG 8 times in a circle was WAAAAAY more than enough for me.

Weight back to 166 yesterday.

Went for new running shoes- ah sneakers- yesterday. Went to the sister store I had gone to before.Well the 1st place said stability shoe and this one said neutral.I am thinking my feet did not change????????

OK I will try neutral this time -may be why I have foot pain?

Have a good day everyone,
Linda

Great job sticking with it Linda. I like having a schedule each week. Helps me stay motivated. I don't do very well winging it. Is this the same 1/2 plan you used last time?

What does your foot look like? High arch or Low? How do your running shoes wear, on the outside or on the inside? I have a high arch and tend to wear my tread out on the outside. So I run in cushion/neutral shoes.

Glad to see you back in action. Maybe a neutral shoe will help:confused3 I am useless at these things.

What program are you using? Is it just mileage or tempo/400's etc. Mine is just mileage, I like being able to highlight it on the sheet on the fridge that it's DONE. We are up for 8miles this Sunday, should be fun.

Thanks David and Veronica for checking in.

OK here's what happened yesterday.Went to another running store and got another answer. This one says absolutely stability shoe and the way she explained and demonstrated my walk to me was totally believable. She said the sneaker I had on was the ones I should be wearing.I wear to the outside of my heel then turn in on my foot when I land.

No running yesterday but due for 3 today plus strength. It is hard when the kids are out of school, just want to hang with them.

I am using a program from Hal Higdon just doing mileage it says beginner marathoner but I get way too confused with all that meter talk- I wish they would say-OK run .75 miles at a pace of ?, that would work better for me, I don't like tracks generally. The longest run is 10 miles, I may make it 11.We will see how this progresses.

I have it on the fridge too and love my highlighter.

Linda

3 miles in 29:32, a 9:50 pace. Then did weights per training schedule.

Great day out there- time for the pool!

Linda

Thanks Tracy!

This morning did 30 mins XT on the elliptical, 2.04 miles and 287 cals. per training schedule, no running today.

After that did 30 mins on my bike= 6 .25 miles, for weight loss purposes. Total 60 mins cardio.

Read yeaterday that Jillian Micheals says for weight loss you need at least 60 mins cardio a day- OK lets see if that works for me.

71 degrees and sunny- gotta love it!!!!!!!!!!!

FIL showed me Higdon's program and I just felt overwhelmed with it. I prefer to just run mileage at MY pace, since I don't care too much about time at this point.

Glad you got the sneakers straightened out. I had a guy at EMS the other day trying to sell me insoles (which I don't need per my "guy" at Fleet Feet). Some people just want to sell stuff.

Isn't it fun to highlite runs on the sheet? Makes it seem like you are getting somewhere.

Ran 4 miles yesterday per schedule.Did it in 41:42,a 10:25 pace- disappointed with that but my foot was killing me the whole way. This was in my newer Asic 2140s. Not too happy since they said this is what I should have.

May do 3 today, I will wear my old sneakers, foot bad this am.

Linda

Sorry to hear that you are still having shoe problems. Since your feet roll to the inside after your foot strike the stability/motion control should be the right shoes for you. Maybe it is just the brand and you should try something else. But if your old shoes feel good you might want to stick with those.

David

Thanks David. The funny thing is my old shoes are Asics too 2130 vs 2140s.

I am getting bummed, I have a 1/2 in Sept. I don't have time for this.

Linda

Ok went to my 5th shoe store this weekend- New Balance store.

He said stability which was a good thing, he analized my foot with a machine and it showed how I collapse my arches pulling on the fascia- makes sense.

He showed me inserts for my shoes and I tried them on- I thought I died and went to foot heaven.

$50 later and not going barefoot at all my feet are almost pain free and I just ran.

Hope it stays that way.

3 miles today in 31:16, a 10:25 pace on purpose, wanted to make sure I could do it.Then out on my bike for 4 miles in 19 mins.

Nice out there!

Linda

Hi Linda...sorry I forgot to answer your question on my thread.

I am going to be following MFM. They have a walk program. Unfortinatley there isn't alot of walkers plans out there so I only picked this one cause there was one. However, I know alot of walkers use it and seem to like it.

What plan are you following?

I hope the inserts work for you, Linda! :wizard:

Great job keeping up with those workouts! :cheer2:

Have a great Tuesday!
