Limited Time Magic-April

I think some people on this thread are suffering from what my sister and I refer to as "equal fever". I love looking at the LTM things that have been going on - if you compare things week to week you are surely going to be disappointed. And why do that to yourself? A lot of people on this board would love so very much to see some "Long Lost Friends" but I'm sure there are plenty of people who are in the parks those days and could not care less and wish they would have had a chance to buy some special merchandise instead.

It is impossible for Disney to please everyone every week. I'm sure there are a lot of people who worked very hard to pull these special events together. I wouldn't blame them if they get a lot of complaints to stop LTM events altogether.

I say "no apology necessary." You shouldn't apologize for asking a simple question. You are just hoping to gain some information to help plan your trip. That's what these boards are for, right?

Have a wonderful trip, LTM or no LTM :)

EKK! Sorry to unleashed a can of worms. I was just wondering about LTM.

We were there presidents week. We got to see the special presentation at great moments with Lincoln, meet the new president of DL AND AP members got to stay late on Thursday nights. We were lucky. I am "leading" a trip of 25 moms and elementary school kids our spring break, the week of April 15 and just wanted to see if there was any extra magic. I have one mom coming that is going through chemo (her third bout with cancer) and one mom that lost her husband violently, and one that recently lost her parents and grandmother.

Anyway, I am sure DL and DCA will be enough magic for a memorable spring break!

You were only asking a question - it was other demands and such that sort of side tracked us all. :)

Maybe complaints happen. Maybe Disneyland decides they just won't bother to do anything special in the future. Too much of a hassle.

OR... you could just enjoy whatever little bonus you get. (Unless it's a Cozy Cone hat.)

I don't know how many different ways I can try to same the same thing. I am NOT disappointed because I'm not getting something "equal" to other weeks.

Just that I would have liked to have something in the same ballpark or even within the city limits. And, again, it's one thing to have a light week during the off season. It is surely another during spring break week.

This thread has turned out to be really sad. We travelled from Australia so I think I can safely say that you didn't pay the same as what we paid(in reference to a previous comment about paying the same and getting the same) We went at the start of March and from what I could see the LTM was a preview of Oz (so no muppets 3d) and some St Patricks day merchandise. Big deal! Because we took DD4, I don't like riding alone so I missed out on all the big rides, spent the equivalent of more than a day in line to meet Princesses and other characters, missed out of the fireworks and night shows because they were too late for her, one day it rained, DD4 was obsessed with Tarzans Treehouse :confused3 so we climbed that thing about 20 times, we hardly spent any time at all in Tomorrowland, I had the opportunity to ride the Lily Belle - an hour after we had to leave!:sad1:
But do you know what, we had the most amazing trip we have ever had. Our little girl got to experience Disneyland and we saw it in a whole new way and we met some great people and had more fun than we could possibly say. You want to talk about limited time magic...the time you spend with your family and loved ones in Disneyland is all the limited time magic you could possibly need.
I know it's promoted as a big thing but it's really not, even if you were there for the 'good stuff' what would that take, an hour or two of your trip, sure it might be fun, but missing it isn't really something anyone should be upset about.
Just relax and enjoy the trip for what it is.:cheer2:

Here's an additional thought on the "what about my week?" feeling:

Roger Rabbit was a surprise. He was not announced far in advance. I missed him and I can go to the Park any time my schedule permits. I stay far away during The week before and week after Easter. Had I of known, I might have gone. It was a surprise.

Maybe there will be some cool surprise during your time there. It seems with LTM, we just never know what to expect. And isn't that part of what makes it, dare I say, magical?

- Dreams

DBF and I saw that Carl Fredricksen from UP was there and we just about screamed NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! because we had no idea he would be there. We would've drove down from Norcal for a day just to see him.

For those of you who want to continue a debate about LTM offerings, here's an article I read a bit ago when I was also disappointed in the events: http://blog.wdwinfo.com/2013/02/13/disneys-limited-time-magic-extra-pixie-dust-or-unmet-expectations/. What I got from it is that Disney outdid itself with its Year of a Million Dreams promotion, and since then we've been expecting more and more extravagant events from Disney. If you realize, you would've been happy going to Disneyland without any sort of promotion to begin with, so why bother complaining?

EDIT: In regards to the Strawberry hats vs. Cozy cone hats, you may think they're silly, but other people will appreciate them. :)

Another update on Long Lost Friends Week: Scheduled to kick off on the 11th. Yes, it's a Thursday so it's kinda weird but that's the latest news I've heard.

And honestly, my family of young boys would MUCh prefer a cozy cone hat over meeting someone they have never heard of. It's all subjective and there is always "someone" that will be thrilled for any of the special things. And always those who aren't pleased

...
...And as for a sense of entitlement. Yes I feel I am entitled to what everyone else gets.... I am not asking for more, just the same.
The world just doesn't work like that. We are not all entitled to what everyone else gets. There are 'specials' all the time that are just that. Sometimes you go shopping and there is a sale, sometimes there isn't.

I admit I'm being kinda gripey about this.

But you guys are making it sound like this week's "events" are in any way comparable to essentially every single week prior to this. It's not even close.

And, yes, I do feel entitled to something special when Disney (not me) creates a promotion that says that something special will happen each week.
Disney never said the weeks would be compatible. I get being disappointed, even expressing it here, but to take the time out of your Disney day to complain about what you didn't get that nobody ever said you would just seems odd to me. I wouldn't waste my time (if I was going to complain about something, I would likely do it in writing later, unless it was so horrible it needed immediate attention, which I can't say I believe this does) on anger like that, but that is just me. Something special did happen, you just didn't like it. That happens. My son cries over kids meal toys sometimes, too. He's 4.

You were lucky to be at Disneyland. The promotion does NOT say all offerings will be equal. Move on.

I agree with all of this. My kids would love the hats, not so much characters they aren't familiar with. Actually, I wouldn't mind one of those hats for my collection, truth be told. I never understand people who allow things like this to upset their visit to the Happiest Place on Earth. Life is what you make it folks. You can worry that, "they got a better promotion," and about all sorts of other things, or you can make the most of your time there. That choice belongs to each of us.

The first thing a person should do when they find themselves in a hole is to stop digging!

After much contemplation, I had to come back. This makes zero sense to me. Zero! Folks in the off season miss enough already: rides down for refurb, no evening shows, etc. But you think they deserve crap specials too. Come on. This is so petty and entitled, its a bit hard to swallow.

I personally think that off season weeks should get "better" LTM events. Like a PP said, they're the ones stuck with refurbs, light show schedules, etc. so it would only make sense to give them something extra. Plus, it will draw more locals or those who can afford to make last minute trips so it becomes a little busier in the end making more money for Disney. Spring break and the peak season will already make them enough money so they don't really "need" to offer stuff to help draw people in.

Again, I NEVER said that offseason people deserve crap. Only that if Disney was going to go "light" on an LTM event then a low-attendance week would make a lot more sense to me than a high attendance week (like this week).

I don't care if I am continuing to dig a hole...

This. I see the LTM stuff as a reason to pull the locals in during the off-peak times, thus keeping the park fuller and generating more revenue. That's the whole reason the SoCal APs exist, right? To keep the park busy, with people spending money, during the typically slower times?

Exactly. That's really what the SoCal AP's and most of the LTM stuff is.

You didn't "say" it, you implied it. You can repeat yourself as many times as you want, but I still disagree completely.

I saw a picture of Carl Fredrickson at Disneyland. I would have DIED if I saw him. I love him! So he was only there a limited time? I was so excited to see him. He had such a great costume! You would think they would have him there permanently! :confused3

I have a pass that cost $650, not to mention what I pay for my kids. I should get a whole lot of extras for that money. As it is, they like to schedule things when most locals are at work and school, thank-you-very-much. Am I entitled to get more? Nah, but it's a bonus when I get it.
