I hope it somehow works out for you! It's kind of terrible having to wait till the week before to know what kind of events they have planned. Even living and hour and a half away it's hard to make last minute trips when I have class and other responsibilities throughout the week!

We are heading to DLR on Wed. Am not pleased by the "offerings" this week and will complain at City Hall.

Really? Complain? About not liking the special additional offerings? Really?

So, let's review the chronology. Disney announces, with great fanfare, their Limited Time Magic promotion. Something new each week - and some special events such as the Golden Horseshoe, long long friends week, special holiday events, etc.

But there's no way to know what's coming since they don't announce things much in advance. So, we end up deciding to go during our school's spring break (this coming week). But of course won't know what we'll get. But we were certainly enthused by last week's Easter activities with the rare sighting of Roger Rabbit and all the other things.

Do we get to see special characters? No
Do we get a special show? No
Do we get a special musical experience? No
Do we get a special menu item? No
Do we get a special ride experience? No

We get a merchandise opportunity (and not a very good one at that).

And are we coming during a slow week during off season? NO! We're going during SPRING BREAK week when the crowds are super high.

I'm thinking of three letters, which you can probably guess.

It's true - no guarantee. But it's not like Disney didn't set at least some modest expectations for us. Expectations that in no way did Disney come close to.

But that's the entire idea behind Limited Time Magic. It's limited. It's somewhat of a short-term notice. It's not on a schedule. That's the whole concept of the promotion. Now, if you don't like it, I completely get that, but you are going to complain about it? What is there to complain about on LTM? "We wish there was something exciting planned while we are here!"?

During Spring Break there are so many entertainment offerings and a full schedule of characters and shows. They don't NEED anything else during Spring Break. It's all ready a jam packed time. There's no need for anything extra and yet there IS a special offering that is part of the Year of the Ears.

Sorry you aren't happy with all that Disney is offering during the time of your visit, but I think to complain about the LTM offering during your visit is a bit odd given the nature of the promotion.

JMO,

I get that with prices what they are, expectations are through the roof for many people who visit any Disney property and the idea is of course to maximize ones time while there. However, I have to agree with the PPs who question the logic behind complaining about extras. They are marketed as extras, nothing to be expected whatsoever. Sure anytime a company does something more than once, people begin to expect them to continue but that does not place an onus on the company to do so.

Disneyland Resort is a great place to visit - and we do so without any expectations we are going to get anything more than what is guaranteed to be provided - happiness. If you do not get happiness when you visit, then complain away, as that is what they are selling!! :cool1:

Then why were there so many things going on just last week?

Look, it's not like I'm going to stomp into City Hall at rope drop to complain. But I really think Disney has set at least a minimum expectation that they are in no way reaching this week. Which, again, I will remind everyone is one of the most crowded of the year.

It would really suck if they do long lost friends week next week. And would serve to illustrate my point. Last week - really incredible special things. Next week - really incredible special things. This week - a not very nice looking hat.

NOTHING to be expected? Then why do the promotion?

I guess I'd probably feel better if this week's hat was like those cool strawberry Mickey ears they're selling in WDW, rather than the lousy cone hat.

I personally feel entitlement from your above posts. Which is not something I can ever relate with or understand yet it becomes more and more apparent each day in our society.

I look at Limited Time Magic as a cool thing not something to be catered around me or anyone. Even if I can't personally be there I enjoy reading about it.. But I'm a bit more easy going perhaps.

Can someone please explain to me what limited time magic is? We are coming from Pittsburgh - we are just happy to have probably this once in a lifetime chance to be at Disneyland - we are not gonna complain about anything!!!

LTM is the promo Disney is doing this year in the US parks. They're going to have special "limited time" events, merchandise opportunities, etc throughout the year. Some things they've done so far are the Golden Horseshoe Revue, Mardi Gras celebration, Easter celebration, earhats each month (which so far have all been hats already being sold), Oz 4D preview... I think you get the idea.

And as for being upset about not having something going on-- on our trip all we had was the release of the new makeup line and the Oz preview. The preview was for the entire month so it didn't feel that special at all, especially when they did the same thing with Frankenweenie last year which had nothing to do with this promo. Did I go to city hall and tell them my trip was less magical because I couldn't meet a special character? No. Did my trip get ruined in any way because there wasn't some fabulous offering? No. I had just as much fun, if not more, than usual because I was with family and friends and just enjoyed what was already offered at the parks.

You sound like a spoiled little child, be thankful you are going instead of finding things to complain about. Get over it. Or you can cancel your trip and give it to someone who would actually appreciate going.

It isn't that she expects something for nothing.

It is that we look forward to these special things Disney does. We spend months planning our trips and want to partake in as much as we can.

I for one will be disappointed that we are missing Long Lost Friends. My family loves pretty much all things Disney. Going to Disneyland from Nova Scotia, Canada is a big deal. We want to enjoy as much as possible. Had we known when Long Lost Friends week was, we may have tried to book our vacation around that in order to partake in something so special.

And as for a sense of entitlement. Yes I feel I am entitled to what everyone else gets. Those people who happened to be lucky enough to have something exciting happen during thier trip were lucky. But shouldn't I be just as lucky? I paid the same for my trip. It isn't my fault and there isn't anything I could have done to predict when things were going to happen. This isn't the lottery we are talking about. I feel that if I am paying the same as others than yes, I deserve to get the same as others. I am not asking for more, just the same.

You don't know for sure you're paying the same for your trip. Maybe their hotel was twice as much as yours. Maybe they're traveling further. And maybe you will get something cool on your trip. Disney did say that not everything will be announced-some will be surprises. Given, I haven't seen anyone post of these surprises yet but it is a possibility. Did you book your trip before or after this promo was announced? LTM shouldn't be the basis for your trip anyways. The basis is to enjoy time at the parks with family and friends. I don't think people should be getting this upset about thing that Disney doesn't have to do at all.

I disagree with every aspect of the entitlement being described in this thread. We are spoiled rotten compared to people who live in other parts of the world and it shows how little of this we appreciate when one extra one week isn't good enough compared to the one offered last week. This is the kind of talk we try to steer our children away from in elementary school, is it not?

I can tell you one thing though, this thread should have been called "My 1st world problem!" :sad2:

I admit I'm being kinda gripey about this.

But you guys are making it sound like this week's "events" are in any way comparable to essentially every single week prior to this. It's not even close.

And, yes, I do feel entitled to something special when Disney (not me) creates a promotion that says that something special will happen each week.

I feel that if I am paying the same as others than yes, I deserve to get the same as others. I am not asking for more, just the same.

And for those of us attending this week with high crowds and higher-than-average hotel rates you're correct - not asking for more but just the same. Which we're most certainly not getting.

Wow, long lost friends week sounds fun! I hadn't heard of it until now.

Here's an additional thought on the "what about my week?" feeling:

Roger Rabbit was a surprise. He was not announced far in advance. I missed him and I can go to the Park any time my schedule permits. I stay far away during The week before and week after Easter. Had I of known, I might have gone. It was a surprise.

Maybe there will be some cool surprise during your time there. It seems with LTM, we just never know what to expect. And isn't that part of what makes it, dare I say, magical?

Truth. :rotfl2:

Just got word from a different source about Long Lost Friends Week. No info on dates but here is the list of characters he heard: Esmeralda, Clopin and Judge Frollo; Ping and Mushu; 3 Little Pigs and the Big Bad Wolf; Pocahontas, John Smith, Meeko and Ratcliffe.

EKK! Sorry to unleashed a can of worms. I was just wondering about LTM.

We were there presidents week. We got to see the special presentation at great moments with Lincoln, meet the new president of DL AND AP members got to stay late on Thursday nights. We were lucky. I am "leading" a trip of 25 moms and elementary school kids our spring break, the week of April 15 and just wanted to see if there was any extra magic. I have one mom coming that is going through chemo (her third bout with cancer) and one mom that lost her husband violently, and one that recently lost her parents and grandmother.

Anyway, I am sure DL and DCA will be enough magic for a memorable spring break!
