So whats going on in Orlando in Mid-January? We are going 1/21 - 1/28. I was checking some sites for rooms, and there is literally little to no availability. I thought this was a slow time of year????

We have a pool villa rented. However, we might have another family member join us and they want a hotel room.

I've been wondering something along the same lines. Disney has the package discounts going on from Jan-Mar except for Jan 13-15. I know that's leading up to MLK's birthday, but is something else going on that weekend? I want to avoid crowds as much as possible. We went last Feb. expecting small crowds and it ended up being much more crowded then expected--I don't want a repeat of that.

Cypress Pointe is availability.

if you want cheaper there is also another hotel for $45.

January is a slow season compared to the rest of the year.

It also be only Jan 21 that is your problem.

the holiday for MLK starts on the 14th - so the 21st (sat to sat) is a week later and some people would stay until then.

I can't and go to work on Monday - but others people can party all night and still get up on Monday and go.

The International Builders Show will draw over 100,000 people January 11-14. Although lodging and dining reservations will be tight, many of the people will be too tired to go to the parks. It is likely that people will stay until the 15th and may go to the parks on that day. Don't even think of driving anywhere near the convention center on those days. Its a madhouse.

The Builders Show is in mid-January, which brings in 110,000 attendees. Many of those bring their families along, so the total impact on the greater Orlando area is about 250,000 people.

The first weekend in January is the WDW full and half marathons, which have an impact on hotel rooms, more so this year since they've added tremendously to the number of possible registrations.

The last weekend of January is PGA weekend with a trade show and golf tournament that fills 4000+ rooms in the I-Drive area.

Those are just off the top of my head.

Thank you for the heads up at Sheraton Vistana-- I'll pass that along. I have a pool home rental. None of those events really affect our dates- other than our arrival being the Saturday after MLK weekend.
I did notice that CPGV had availability but it seemed much more expensive than when I looked into a month or so ago for my own self.

Cypress Pointe (I think) is through with their rehab.

most resort higher their prices when they are through doing their rehab.

you can get Pop century for $624.96 - so if you can't get a better rate I would go with PC.
