Hi! I was wondering if there is a maximum amount that can be reserved for the same time period? Reason: DH and I are considering renewing our vows at Disney and we want to invite our families. We were married 13 years ago and it was just us, a preacher, some wild horses on an island! Three boys later we want to redo with both sets of parents and siblings and their families. I would like to be able to use our points to allow everyone to stay in the same place. There is a possible 33 people. Possibly in Aug., Sept., or early Dec. 2011. Any help, suggestions or advice would be great. Thanks in advance.

No, no limit except the number of points you have available. And you can make that go a long way with banking and borrowing.

You'll also need the names and possibly addresses and phone of a separate name for each villa, they won't let you put them in the same name.

You definately need to check out the offerings for a "Grand Gathering". This is an event set up by you, supported by Disney, and enjoyed by all! A number of things can be set up by Disney for your "Grand Gathering". I can't spell them all out, but I know that they invite such events and make them MAGIC!:wizard:

Disney has a rule that a member can make up to 20 reservations per year and if the member attempts more he will need to show he is not a repeat renter. Other than that there is no limit. In your case each room reservation on points will count as one but it does not sound like you will even come close to 20. Just note if that you are actually going to chose "early Dec" for that event, you will need to make all those ressies 11 months out at your home resort because that is a very high DVC demand time. The likely real problems you will face: (a) a number of your guests may not be able to commit well enough in advance for you to be able to get them a reservation on points; and (b) some of those who do commit and for whom you reserve a room will need to cancel and as a result you may be left with points you cannot use before they expire.

Yep. Better read the above several times and memorize every word.

We frequently see anguished threads here on the DIS about friends, relatives, etc who drive the owner nuts with their lack of committment and then cancel at the last minute. It's a REAL problem, because people just don't think there is any difference in DVC and a regular hotel. They think you can cancel at the last minute without any ramifications, which of course is not true.

My understanding is they only start looking critically at 20, not that you can't have more than 20. And there is some issue as to how they count 20. Generally it seems to be 20 separate trips or rooms and that a room change a couple of times would not count as 3.
