Can I put various limits on different cards for charging to my room at WDW? I am taking my daughter, niece and SIL next week and want to allow each of the girls to have a small amount available but want my amount to be limited.

Thanks!

Less than a week to go!!!! WOOOOOHOOOOOO!! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

I don't believe so. All cards charge back to a single account, which is where the limit is set.

I ask because I know on the cruises you can limit the amount charged on a KTTW card. We did that for my daughter so she could charge purchases without going crazy.

They don't have anyway to limit each card at the resorts. You can however..set limits for your children that they follow. That is what we used to do. Worked great. The kids knew how much they could spend, a great money learning experience for them.

No, with a 7 and 8 year old I am not having cards that could be lost at the parks activated for charging. Guess they'll just have to use cash.

We were at ASMovies in October, we had room keys made for my daughter (5) and my nephew (9). The Cm asked if we wanted them to have charging on them, we said no, so they were specifically made with no room charging priveledges on them. We actually held on to them during the trip, and the kids had a little extra souvenier. My nephew took his for a report he did on his vacation for one of his school classes.

They told us when we were there that the cards had a $1000 limit on them for charging but that if you go over that, that it would just roll over...so, not sure why they say they have a limit if they really dont!

BUT, you could tell your kids that they have a certain limit (not telling them that it's not set on the card) and then trust them to stay within their amount of money that you allow.

If you wanted them to have plastic with a spending limit you could always get a visa gift card.

I just got back and I am not sure if it varies to type of resort for charging limit but we had only a $500 limit for me and dh together for room charging priviledges. We had it so that our son could not charge but we could.

We stayed at Pop and ASSports and both gave us a 500 limit.

Value resorts are $500 Moderates are $1000 Deluxe are $1500 and the Grand is $3000 (I think the Grand is the only one still going to $3000).

To answer sunkissed212's question basically the limit is set so that the hotel does not have people charging way more than they can afford. Once you reach the established hotel limit they will take a payment on your credit card and you start over at zero...so you are not limited to what you are spending per say...you are limited to what you can spend without making a payment to the account.

For the original question, there is no way to limit certain cards. The limit is a reservation limit which would be for all cards that are valid to charge together.

With young kids (7, 5 and 4) I don't have their room cards activated for charges. They save disney dollars all year and that's what they use for souveniers. We'll be back in July and they already have $100 each so I don't think they need charges.

I don't know where to get Disney dollars and we leave Saturday so I can't order any of those or gift cards at this point. I think I will just make sure they can't charge to the room and leave it at that.

Thanks for all the input!!

I believe you can buy Disney Dollars anywhere in WDW. I know for sure you can buy them at the Wide World of Disney store at DTD. Do you have a Disney Store anywhere near you? There is one in the Orlando Airport if you are flying. We are leaving Wednesday for our trip and have purchased our kids Disney Dollars from our local Disney Store. Best of luck to you!

When you reach the limit, you have to visit a guest services location to have the amount charged to your credit card and then your room charge starts over again.

The closest Disney Store here no longer sells Disney Dollars. Hopefully we will go by the one at the airport on the way in. If not, do the stores at the resorts sell them???

Thanks!

You can get Disneu Dollars at guest services in the parks once you get there. I am not sure if you can get them at guest services at the hotel.
