Lime Green Mickey Head...

I pinned a LGMH on my Vera Bradley Mini-hipster every day when I was there last year. When leaving my special birthday dinner at California Grill a couple stopped me to wish me a Happy Birthday and mentioned my LGMH and said they were disers also. I was so happy! I wish I could remember their User name.

It was us!! I couldn't remember your exact name... but I knew it was about lightning mcqueen and princesses for your grandkids!! It was really great meeting you! :lovestruc

Oh how cool! I'm excited. I hope I run into a few Disers!

As far as putting them on your bag or whatever.. how do you do it? Do you just punch a hole in it and hang it from a string?

I've got the magnet thing covered, for the door. But I'm starting to wonder about the purse/stroller thing.

I have had mine the past four trips and no one has said hi to me either.:sad2:

I soaked the swatches in water till I was able to get teh Mickey Head off the backing and then let it dry. I took an old pin button and spray painted it black and let it dry for a day. I then took elmers glue and glued the mickey head to it then I put a layer of elmers glue over the whole thing and let it dry and just kept putting layers till I knew the head wouldnt come off and it had a shine to it. I pin it to whatever bag I have on my person that day.

I will be there Sept 18-25 at BCV, please say hi I don't bite, my kids might though,

Wow, that sounds pretty great. It must take you a long time to make the pin that way. I admit I am lazy and take mine to be laminated at Staples.

And if I ever see you I will say "HI" :thumbsup2

wasnt hard at all and only took a couple hours to do and let it set over night and your ready to go

I saw a lady with a LGMH on her back pack...it said "I DIS!"...but she was busy screaming at her child and telling him what a little jerk he was being while he told her what jerk SHE was being...no joke...so I figured that wasn't the best time to say howdy. :lmao:

My husband laughed and said "Are THOSE the people you talk to all the time..." I gave him a look and said "That person is in the middle of an unpleasant moment with her child...I'm sure she is a nice Dis'er".

That is the reason I don't sport the LGMH. I don't want to get recognized or approached if I'm having a "human" moment. :littleangel:

Doesn't sound like a DISer.... I thought we all learn here how to slow down, and realize the magic is all about the kids.

Am I wrong?

^ that's the plan, it doesn't always work out that way though, We all have those moments sometimes. I had a round with DS, and DW last year in Epcot, after he wasn't behaving, and I punished him for it. The punishment wasn't a big deal, I was leaving the stroller behind. I fully intended to get another one after the next ride or so, once he got the message, but after I told him I was leaving it behind, that he had lost it, DW grabbed it up and brought it along, which teaches the kid that he can do what ever he wants with no repercussions, and makes it impossible for anyone to get him to behave. It lead to disagreement, and me walking off. Of course DS, and DD followed me, and DW started fuming about it.

In retrospect, it was probably pretty ugly for anyone else to see, but I felt strongly that it needed to be that way. I don't believe in beating kids to make a point, but I do believe that there have to be repercussions to bad behavior, and once you tell them the price, you have to go through with it.

At any rate, the point is that we are ALL human, everyone has moments like that, and it is no reason not to display the DIS LGMH. It is great fun to run into other random members of the DIS boards on occasion. If another member should happen to see me at an unfortunate time, I'm certain that they will understand these things sometimes are just unavoidable.

I know... I was being sarcastic.. :)

Me and you have a lot in common.

I to agree if you say it, you do it. No idle threats, or the kids will take advantage of you, and you know what... it works like a charm. My kids are very very well behaved, and they respect people around them. That being said, wifey is on the same page as me about this, so that's also a plus.

Okay I have read the whole thread and will I have been on the boards for a while, this is my first time hearing about the mickey head thing. Do you just use the lime green mickey head from Home Depot or do you use lime green anything? For instance...could I use lime green ribbon on my bag? Also do you just put a ribbon on it or the paint chip? I am sure it is very easy to understand....I am have a "work moment", you know the sort....you realize that what your doing at work is all wrong, you get frustrated, and then you can't understand anything or how to fix it! So you hop on the Dis boards and find out the confusion is carried over! lol
I would so love to do this for out Sept trip...I think it would be awesome to met other DISers!

My hubs and I are also on the same page. We are comfortable setting very clear boundaries and following through. Every single time. Even at Disney.

I'm a wicked step mother after all....*ahem* :scared1:;)

Sadly, when it comes to the kids, DW and I are most certainly NOT on the same page, EVER. I pretty much call all the shots with DD15, and she knows exactly how far she can push things, and what is going to be a problem. I have very little in the way of problems with her. Unfortunately, DS6 is a little to young to understand that he has to behave differently for me than his mother allows him to behave, so he gets away with being a complete jerk with her, and then tries to behave the same way for me. Eventually, I'm sure he'll start to understand that he is expected to behave differently for me, but right now that is just too much to expect of him. The unfortunate thing is that he gets caught up in the middle of it. I know if she would just do things the same way I do, his behavior would be fantastic, and it would very rarely be necessary to punish him for anything, but because she lets him get away with really outrageous behavior, I frequently have to be the "bad guy" and punish him for things that he is only too quick to remind me "mommy lets me do."

People have used ribbons, but it seems the Mickey head is the most common. I've done tags we'll all have on us this year with the LGMH shape / color, but I've added our pictures, DIS, and my user name, Tomh. I'm also going to make up a couple of tags to display in the car windows on the way down, mostly because I spotted another DIS'er last year on the way home with a LGMH in their window.

Many also stick one or more LGMH's in the window of their resort so other DIS'ers will know there is a fellow board member staying there.

I scanned the LGMH from Home Depot into the computer, then went nuts with it :thumbsup2

We were there from Jan 25th - Feb 1st and we had lime green Mickey heads on our sling bags. One said "DO YOU DIS" and the other said "DISER". But alas I saw no other easily identified disers. But the crowd levels were very low most days so maybe I was the only Diser there ;)

I'm gonna be in the World December 3 - 11, 2010, staying at the Coronado. I'm definitely going to be putting a lime green mickey head in our window!! What a great idea!! ::MickeyMo

I never did the LIme Green Mickey heads..but I used alot of the Creative Disigns from here on tshirts and made magnets and window clings for the resort. I never got stopped for my tshirts and I try to see if I see any disigns like mine when I'm at the park but never do.

There was no Home Depot in our area when I went last time so I just did mine on the computer on paper and then laminated them with that sticky plastic you can get from the Dollar store....worked like a charm....doing the same thing this year (dd needs one for her Dis name)!

We will be there July 10-16th. We will not be in a Disney Resort but we will be sporting the Green Mickey heads if I can find them at our HD tomarrow. I will put them on our backpacks and ds's wheelchair. His Wheelchair is green too so it will match;) Looking forward to saying hello to our fellow dis'ers:woohoo:
