Lime Green Mickey Head...

Stopped by HD last night and grabbed a bunch. I think the guy at the paint counter thought I was nuts. I made my DS9 and DS5 grab a few different colors for themselves so I didn't draw too much attention to myself. :lmao: They thought they were very cool. DS9 could not quite understand why I wanted multiple lime green ones so I really hope someone notices us on our trip from 4/10-4/17/10. Now that he knows, I am sure he will spot someone and go up to them. He (and I) would be thrilled if someone came up to us:yay:

Last year during the first MNSSHP (Sept 4) we saw a guy with a lime green hard hat, and a shirt that said something to the effect of DIS Construction or something like that. We were in a huge crowd, kind of following the parade, trying to get back ahead of it, passing the Liberty Tree Tavern going toward the hub, and I was really trying to catch up with him to say hello, but navigating the crowd with the stroller made it impossible, and I eventually lost sight of the guy.

We did however meet a DIS family while my DD14 was waiting to get her picture taken with the pumpkin carriage. I noticed that they had a LGMH on their backpack and said hello.

I think I will get a few and put them on my back window for the drive down in July.

2740 miles RT for us!! Look for us on I95.

and yes my license plate is RD-SOX just like my user name.:cheer2:

I could swear they were stickers. I didn't try to peel them, though. Hmmm. Ok then.

I'd thought of sticking on on my clothes, but I'll have to go back to the old drawing board, lol.

Not stickers! I picked up a bunch at Home Depot today and tried peeling one back as well.

I always get the LGMH and forget them at home. (Oops?:confused3)

However, I always get lime green ribbon to tie on bags and strollers to make it easier to find, and last June I tied a lime green ribbon on our door handle at POR. You know...dragging in late and tired and often with a sleeping child (or near-sleeping), that ribbon on the door sure made it quicker to recognize when we were "home"....

I have a LGMH on my bag and have had a few people say hi because of it - most often during a bus ride or on a boat, but last time while waiting for that Put Out the Fire game, I met another Dis-er who was also on the Disney Mom's Panel!

To make mine I cut out two of those lime Mickey paint chips - well, I started cutting them and then noticed they can actually be "punched out" - trimmed off any little white edge still showing with a fine craft scissor, then glued them together and took them to an office supply store to be laminated. I was the only customer so the clerk did the laminating right away, brought it to the register where I was waiting and said "That will be $500." :scared1:

He was just joking though, and it came to something like... 90 cents, since with tax it was still under one dollar. At home I used a compass to trace a circle around the laminated square and trimmed along those lines, then used a hole punch to punch a hole between Mickey's ears and put a little chain keychain through it to fasten to my bag. It has held up through a couple of trips!

Oooo, this gave me an idea for those of us who would like to leave something to say hi!! :yay: I was hung up on the "how to attach a poster & pen to the door without using tape" but.... instead... I'll tie a bunch of lime green ribbons (3 or 4 2-foot lengths should do the trick) to the door handle and let the ends dangle. If you see my sign in the window and want to leave a note, simply punch a hole in the note (I've done this with my pen :rolleyes1) and tie it to an end of the ribbon! Whadaya think?

That is a good idea!!

Meanwhile, I found some magnets.. My parents went to a gathering of sorts yesterday, and they were handing out business cards that were magnetic. I glued my LGMH to the front of the magnet, and voila!
If indeed the resort doors are metal, the LGMH should be able to be hung that way! No damage to the door.

Also, I'd thought of putting a little dry erase board that had magnets on the back.. for notes from other board members. Thoughts?

I love this idea!!! I might try it as well!!! And BTW....I live in Catasauqua too!!! What a VERY small world it is, after all!

Going 3/8-3/12 and will definitely have some LGMHs! Although I got them before finding this forum and they're not alien green, hope that's ok. :)

I really hope people say hi!

I wear one on my bag and haven't gotten a shout out yet, but I'm not giving up! I'm always on the lookout for them in the parks and I think it's really weird how I haven't seen one on anyone yet. :confused3

Awww! I'll just miss you! I'll be there from 2/28 to 3/7. Dang! Well, I know of a couple people here who will be there the same time frame I will, so I'll be on the lookout.

And I have two magnets for my door, and extra LGMHs so I can put them on the stroller or my bag or whatever.

:thumbsup2 :cool1:

In 2006 I went to my Home Depot, snagged about a dozen LGMHs and spent the time making them in to laminated hanging tags that hung from our stroller, my messenger bag, and from our backpack. No one said anything to us. :confused3

Then I got them back out for our December 2008 trip, hung them from the stroller, my messenger bag, and the backpack we carried. nope, still nothing. :confused3

Then I got them out on our last trip in May 2009, attached it to my messenger bag and to the backpack we had (no longer using a stroller), and still nothing.... :confused3

So when we go again in August I will get them out and attach them to my messenger bag and to the backpack and I will still proudly display to the entire "World" that I am a DISr! :thumbsup2

I bring mine out every trip too!! Still nothing!!! :confused3:confused3:confused3

I pinned a LGMH on my Vera Bradley Mini-hipster every day when I was there last year. When leaving my special birthday dinner at California Grill a couple stopped me to wish me a Happy Birthday and mentioned my LGMH and said they were disers also. I was so happy! I wish I could remember their User name.

My sister made us all LGMH pins to wear on our Vera's on our last trip. We didn't get stopped by anyone, but I just came across the pins and plan on bringing them with us next week! (Next week?! woo hoo!)

I met 3 nice Disers, and got a chilly reception from 2 others. Why wear a LGMH if you don't want someone to say hi? I hadn't planned on wearing one this time, but what the heck, why not?

I went to HD to get mine about a week ago and my friend that is going on the trip with me also went with me to get the LGMH and she didnt understand at all! i just finaly looked at her and said "its a DIS thing you wouldnt understand"

Im wondering how they feel about window paint and if i can find lime green window paint? i will be at POP :hippie: March 21-26 with my LGMH! :woohoo:

I'll be there the 21st to 26th too @ POP. I'll be sure to have my LGMH!

I just learned about the LGMH ~ I think it's awesome! Hope to meet a few people who love Disney just as much as me!!
