Lime Green Mickey Head...

I don't have them on our bags but I DID see one on someone's bag while in line at the Haunted Mansion one time. I finally asked her if she was a DISer & she said her husband was!:rotfl: We chatted while in line but he frequented different boards than me tho so we didn't "know" any of the same people or anything. It was still fun to find another DISer tho.

I would like to have a few of the Alien Green paint chips for our next trip to WDW. We live in a very secluded area in Alaska with no Home Depot......for miles. If anyone would be interested in snagging some and mailing them to me, please PM me. Thank you! :)

This is my first time hearing about this. I think it would be fun to give a shot when we go in September!

We have many Home Depots out my way, and I'll be stopping at a couple this weekend. I'll pick some up for you if they have them. How many would you like?

Hey, if you don't hear back from me - it means I lost this thread location. Please, feel free to email me and ask!!

Dani

I've only been around a few months so I didn't really know about this. Cool - I'll give it a go in August (8/15-8/23 CBR).

Are the LGMH's stickers or paint swatches? If not stickers, how do you attach them - laminate them (puch a hole through and string it on to something)?

I liked the lanyard pouch idea.

Does anyone/everyone put a sign in their hotel window? I was thinking of doing that this trip.

They are paint swatches - I grab two and put them back-to-back. I print MISSYTARA on them and then cover them with packing tape - in case of rain - and then punch a hole in it and hang it on my backpack.

I have been recognized more in the resort, than at the parks.....but it has been fun!

About 4 sqaure inches... 2"x2"

No wonder no one is noticing these Mickey heads. Can we all agree to up the size? What do you think 10 x 10? :rotfl: Seriously, I think they need a rehab. Let's show our Diser pride!

I've worn mine on a couple of trips, never been stopped. I look for them all the time on trips and I've never once seen another person with one! :confused3:confused3

last trip we went on the keys to the kingdom tour. i was on here on a thread for it and started talking to a lady who would be on the same tour as mine. we talked a bit on the tour. i have never worn the green mickey head but i think i am going to this trip Aug 6-16. lets hope i see some DIS'ers!!!!

LOL! I'm so glad this thread is here and I happened upon it!

The other day I went and got mine. I came back home with my son, and my mother said, "Where were you?" (We live with my parents.. long story.) and I said "At Home Depot" and she looked at me weird and said, "Why on earth did you go there?" (Knowing perfectly well that I'm completely hopeless at renovations and such.. so there really was no logical reason to her that I'd be there.) I said, "I got some Lime Green Mickey Heads."

LOL!! My mother was totally dumbfounded. She goes, "You got WHAT?? Why?"

I replied, "How else will the other people at Disney know who I am?" LMAO!

I think she then deemed me insane, because she just shook her head.

It's a special breed who can understand us DISers, hey?

Anyway.. I'll have mine too.

But I noticed they're stickers.. do you guys usually use them as stickers, or what? I've seen a couple people say they put them inside of lanyards or laminated them, but I have no lanyard, and I don't think I've ever laminated anything.. Don't mean to sound like a moron, lol.

Meanwhile, as far as putting it on the door, how does one go about that? I don't want to peel the back off and stick it on the door if we're not allowed, but I do want to invite fellow Dis members to say hello.

Suggestions?

In 2006 I went to my Home Depot, snagged about a dozen LGMHs and spent the time making them in to laminated hanging tags that hung from our stroller, my messenger bag, and from our backpack. No one said anything to us. :confused3

Then I got them back out for our December 2008 trip, hung them from the stroller, my messenger bag, and the backpack we carried. nope, still nothing. :confused3

Then I got them out on our last trip in May 2009, attached it to my messenger bag and to the backpack we had (no longer using a stroller), and still nothing.... :confused3

So when we go again in August I will get them out and attach them to my messenger bag and to the backpack and I will still proudly display to the entire "World" that I am a DISr! :thumbsup2

Well, if I happen to see anyone with Lime Green Mickey Heads, I'll be sure and say hello.

A lot of the time I'm a little inhibited about saying anything to people, but I'm trying to build up the courage, because as I'm reading this, I figure, why would people bother with the LGMH if they don't want anyone to approach them?

So I will be saying hello for sure! I'll chat for as long as our schedules allow, or until my autistic DS gets impatient. :)

(Edited to add: I wrote my username on the LGMH so people have an idea of what nut is waving or bellowing hello in passing, LOL)

:rotfl2: I can't wait to see my brother's reaction when he finds out that there's a whole community of Disney lovers. He's never been to Disney (this August will be his first trip, if all goes well) but he's already warned us that he's not the "amusement park" type.

:lmao::lmao: Disney... a mere amusement park... :lmao::lmao:

As for the laminating - I was kind of hung up on that too but missytara's earlier post mentioned packing tape. Packing tape - I can do that!! Thanks missytara!

I can't imagine putting a sticker on the room door but I'd like to do something with our room, too. Maybe a poster? I'll be at CBR or POP so the doors are outside.... thinking rain and humidity. How to protect the paper from a drenching but have it so that people could sign it without smudging (if anyone finds me). Any ideas on that one?

Aww, we'll be checking out as you're checking in. We'll be at CBR 8/15-8/23... I would have said  if I saw you!

I've met a few Dis members in the parks. Last Spring Break I talked to a lady for awhile at rope drop at DHS. This past trip I met a lady at Dinosaur who asked me about my LGMH's I had on my bag! :thumbsup2 We only talked for a second because we were getting on the ride, but it's always nice to meet a Dis'er!

In past years, we did the little LGMH, and didn't have a whole lot of success with them, so I decided to up the ante a bit this year. I've created my own image, which I'm printing out a bit bigger, and laminating. The image below will be printed twice, then glued back to back so it makes a two sided tag. I made one for each member of the family, each with their own picture on it. The actual printed size will be smaller than the image appears here, though I haven't decided on the exact size yet.

When we stayed at Pop over Thanksgiving 2008, I made a sign to tape on the inside of our room window. It was a LGMH dis-sign found on the creative dissign forum. It had my dis name and the words "I dis...do you?". Then, on our last day of vacation, we found a fellow disser had taped a LGMH from Home Depot on our door with a quick hello and his user name. Wish I could remember his name.

I'll be on the lookout for the LGMH on our next trip this Thanksgiving.;)

yes i made them last time as if i were not obvious enough with my crocs and my lime green baggalini i had my tags on my bag and my stroller. while waiting for dhs to open i noticed a woman by herself with a laminated schedule. i said to myself she must be a diser although i didnt notice any lgmh's. so i asked and she said she does dis a little but she is a big tour guide miker (which i did last trip but did not really chat on their forums. we had a nice conversation. i also met 2 disers waiting in the rainforest cafe entrance to ak. (who were also doing tgm) i think since we always do rope drop and follow tgm it is easy to spot who else is doing tgm because you keep running into each other and most of the tgm ers were disers too. such fun.:thumbsup2

OK..so I first read about this a couple of days ago..If I have lime green mickey head tied to my bag/person, Dis'ers will come up and say hi? How awesome!
How many of you have had this happen? Any fun stories?
I'll be there from next Tues to Sun...look for me!

I've had this happen- TWICE! This past trip I had 2 different disers come up to me and say that they have never seen a diser with a LGMH on their bag!!

You are so welcome - we have a laminating machine here at work for laminating badges, but it was a bit too big for that. My stepmother suggested a few layers of packing tape, and it sure did the trick. We were in quite a rain storm this past trip.

Packing tape can work well, but don't use the cheap stuff! I made that mistake, and it leaked and ruined my work. Use good quality tape, and take your time to make certain that there are NO wrinkles in it. Also make sure when you trim the edges that you leave perhaps 1/4" or so of tape along all the edges so there is a good water tight seal.

This year, I think I'm just going to take the things I want to water proof to an office store and pay the few bucks to have them laminated properly.
