Hoping to make a trip to WDW 1/1-1/3 but likely won't be able to make reservation until a couple of weeks before. Do I have a chance? Any suggestions?

Chances are slim, but there are some pretty good AP deals starting 1/1 08.

An OKW or SSR studio is $165 plus tax a night. So I would make a cash ressie and waitlist for points.

We booked Port Orleans French Quarter for $99.00 a night with an AP rate for the 3rd and 4th. The last time I checked, they only had Port Orleans Riverside for the 1st and 2nd at that rate. OF course, who knows what the availability looks like now.

For points, I'd say your chances are slim.

well if you say a month before hand - might say yes.

but a couple of weeks no - still try for it.

the holding points starts at 30 days - so some members wait until a day or two before to release their reservation - still hoping I guess.

Do you call for an AP rate,or did you book on line? We're staying at Pop, and you're not paying much more. I would love to stay at French Quarter. Do you keep checking the AP site? We have AP's.

I have always had good luck when it comes to booking last minute trips. I have called as late as a Friday for a Monday check in and had my choice of villa types and resorts. Good luck.:wizard:

I just called 2 days ago to book 1/2-1/6. There was no availability for a points ressie for 1/2 or 1/3 in a studio or 2 bedroom anywhere (availability starting 1/4). There was availability for cash ressie's with member discount, as well as cash ressie with AP discount. (I called tonight and checked)

I would call and book something...you can always cancel up to 6 days out....:thumbsup2

I called 407-W-Disney. I would book over the phone (because the cancellation policy is better). But you could always check availability online with the AP discount (at least I think you can still do that with an AP). And if one of the moderates aren't available with the discount when you call, try again. I've heard early morning is a good time to check in case availability has changed.

:wizard: Sorry,
Annual Pass Rates are out for 1/1/08

Though I have seen AP referred to many times, I don't really know what this is about. I suspect the OP doesn't either. I am assuming this means you hold an "annual pass to wdw" and get some benefits. Perhaps someone could enlighten me as to how this works.

Thanks.

Yes, you are right. "AP" refers to "annual pass". An annual pass allows you to go in/out of the parks for a year. Special room-only rates are released periodically throughout the year for certain room types for annual passholders. If you hold an annual pass, or are planning on purchasing one once you get there, you can book a room for these special rates. The discounts on rooms given to annual passholders are usually pretty steep - outdoing most all other discounts. For example, I am a DVC member, and to book a studio at one of the DVC resorts for cash with my member discount is roughly $219/night for January. Annual pass rates were just released for January, and the rate for a studio was $149/night. (I called and switched my ressie to take advantage of it!)

If you have an AP, you also get other discounts on merchandise, food, etc....

Hope that helped! :thumbsup2

I think the online cancellation policy for AP rates can be the same as booking by telephone. I booked an AP rate last Spring after an apparent work-related change of plans. There was more availability online than by phone (??) and when our plans didn't need to change after all, we were able to cancel the online ressies. Of course, I did print out the terms and conditions when booking online so I knew exactly what my cancellation rights were. -- Suzanne
