Well, I just typed my next tenets out, and was almost done, when I pushed something wrong and lost 45 minutes of work!! :scared1:

Crap!!!

Take 2...

I like food. I enjoy cooking food, but especially eating it! I love a well- presented, highly attractive, nicely seasoned, flavorful plate of chow! Here in Blank-a-Stan, we VERY rarely go out to eat. Every restaurant in town serves the same pukey food; without sounding to high falutent (NO, NOT flatulent!) hoity toity, I simply cook a better meal. Seriously, if you like meal of greasy macaroni, rice or potoatoes with a little grissle thrown on top, you're in business. I do not. I gives me heartburn.

So, I've determined that about 1/3 of this trip is about the food. I so, so, so long to go out to eat with my soul mate girlfriends to places I don't have to cook or endure bad food!! Remember that dinky little stove I have to abide by every day?? If not, refresh your memories on page, oh I don't know, page 4 or 5. I know Disney won't pony up with highly seasoned or spicy food, they dumb it down more and more every year. But what they lack there, they will more than make up for it in atmosphere! Every restaurant is so different, and I am excited to get the opportunity to EAT in new, fun places! Also, for those of you who are interested, I"ve actually already named my Dining Report. Anal, but true!! :lmao:

So TENET #4:

Solder #1 promises herself that she will eat in 5 new table service places on our trip that she's never eaten at before! Plans are already being solidified, and now that they are going back to 180 days, we are even more excited to be getting our ADR's that much sooner.

Now, I'm posting this right now, because obviously you never know when your fingers will experience typing palsy and push the "erase 45 minutes of work button". The next tenet will be coming very soon.

Thank you for your attention.

Girls I was so inspired by your pre-planning trip report that even though we leave in 6 days (YES YES YES) I told my hubby we needed to give it a try.

ALL7OfUs I know EXACTLY what you are talking about "bad" fingers erasing 45 min of work cause after I read what my hubby posted (pdmedic) I sought to correct his start with adding my own and Umm that was at 8 am this morning and I FINALLY just posted it (cough cough) 10 min ago due to bad finger action.:rotfl2:
And OH YEA I am soo with you on the food that is HALF the fun of a Disney Trip.:stir: I am surprised that there isn't more food options over in that HUGE sandbox :rotfl:!!!

Our country's people have the WORLD'S WORST cuisine. It is a joke to even call it that!! I was dead serious when I said that they eat greasy macaroni, potatoes or rice, with "meat" on top!! The ONLY spices they use are salt, pepper and garlic!! Oh yeah, and dill, large, copious amounts of dill. GAG me with a pitchfork!

Now, if you go slightly east to "the other side", they have loads of variety, and even duck tongues to munch on. Tasty!

I have to bring in all my spices and odd ingredients like peanut butter and baking powder. Yeah, it's that bad. My mother is my hero and a saint, and sends me regular care packages that delight the lot of us! Bless her a thousand times over.

WOW I am so sorry to hear that well if you want another person to send you care packages let me know I will be thrilled to help out another food lover who is in need :) And I have NO IDEA how you even think about cooking on that little oven WOW you are my super hero..am thinking I need to find a way to sneak myself onto this trip with you guys

It's definitely a challenge, especially at holiday times, when I really try to make it as homey and American as I can. HA!! One year we actually raised a turkey, then after we killed and gutted and dressed it, it BARELY fit in the oven- a seriously close call!!!

You are very, very sweet to offer. I will definitely think about it, and PM you. Once in a while someone ventures out our way and we can ask them to bring something in. In fact, just today, an adoptive mom came in and brought a new vacuum cleaner motor for us. Her adoption was held up for 2 extra months, so it's been 3 MONTHS since I"ve had a vacuum cleaner!! :scared1: My househelper is pretty good at sweeping my rugs with a damp straw broom, but I shudder to think about the dust in them.

Anyway, visitors are too far and few between. We need back ups for sure!! :thumbsup2

Definally feel free to PM me I am located in KS so yea I can get you pretty much anything you want PLUS I am going to WDW on Friday sooo if there is something you want that travels well...just say the word and I will find a way to get it to you I have a friend coming home from that great big sandbox at xmas time :)

Will do, but I've gotta get this carcass to bed. It's midnight, and way too late to type anything more that will be meaningful.

It'll be Monday before I can DIS again,

Until then---

Have a wonderful weekend!

Ew...sorry to hear about this! :guilty:

Liesa- I am not a foodie by any means. And I am not one to be very adventurous with my meals. However, I too am really looking forward to dining possibilities at WDW and getting a break from cooking daily meals for my family (though my cooking conditions are slightly better than yours). Woo hoo to you and your five new TS :woohoo::woohoo: restaurant choices.... what might they be???? I think I have some hints to a few you may dine at.

People, People.... You guys gotta catch up to the "new thing".... Forget the computer...my iPhone has SKYPE! :thumbsup2

And no worries...I will have my computer! :)

I didn't know that iPhones could use Skype. I already told DW that when our current contract is up on our phones (another 14 months:mad:) I am getting a iPhone. Her rebuttal- 'Well if you are getting one, so am I!' LOL

Picture this scenario. Your a DJ at a wedding. You use a Macbook Pro but you don't have a wireless card. The hall that your at doesn't have an internet connection. The bride tells you that she has to change her 1st dance song to a song that isn't in your 85,000 song collection. You say no problem. Jump on your trusty iPhone and DL the song from iTunes. Plug in your phone.. transfer the song... instant happy bride!!!!:rotfl:

Dill???? I don't think I ever cooked with dill! LOL

Ever had a duck tongue sandwich?:confused3;)

Ew...sorry to hear about this! :guilty:

LOLOL You're too funny! :lmao:

Ew...sorry to hear about this! :guilty:

Really!! Everyone! I didn't mean to make you feel sorry for me! Honestly! We actually do very well with the ingredients that we do have, and end up with great tasting American food. What I meant is that it will be very nice to have a whole week of eating great food, that someone else makes!

HA! You are very tricky, reminescint of that'snice.

Although, I'd love to tell you what those might be, we are still putting some thought to those, and narrowing things down. In fact, someone, maybe it was KathyRN137, suggested we play a little game in revealing our dining choices. I will attempt to make the food, post a picture, and you all get to guess where it is. I think it will be fun for me and for you. But, that's for later; there's still a lot to share before then

You think of everything, don't you!?

Dill, is in everything here. And practically free in the bazaar. Seriously, we pay about 10 cents for a big bunch; in the States it's like $2.00 for a little teeny, weeny sprig. Ridiculous! It's a weed and easy to grow!

NO! That sounds worse than slugs. Funny I should say that, though, I really like escargot! :lmao:

Adventure is in my blood, I guess. I enjoy discovering new places and exploring the, yet, unseen! You never know what will be around the corner to see or do. I suppose I wouldn't be living here, or have chosen my line of work, if it weren't! We've experienced the nuances of so many places, taking in the sights and sounds and smells () as we go. I like to be a student of HOW people live, how they think and why, and what MAKES a place unique.

WDW is no different, but ashamedly, there are FAR, far too many places that I've never graced my presence in. In fact, I'm almost mortified to admit that I've only ever really spent any significant time in WL, Fort Wilderness, and the Poly. What a pathetic line-up for someone who loves Disney as much as I do. Every trip, I have always left thinking to myself, I wish I had spent more time in such and such place (insert resort name here). A regret I won't let happen again.

This brings me now to Touring Tenet #5 (I truly hope that's the number we're on); Soldier #1 hereby promises herself that she will:

Spend at least a little time in 4 new resorts that she's never seen. I want to get to know the "feel" of them, discover uncharted territory in them, find out what really makes each one special.

Another regret--well, not exactly a regret, but rather something I never get the chance to do because of being with too large a party, is taking in the less popular, less well-known attractions. Seriously, ask yourselves... when's the last time you've cruised on the Liberty Belle?? Climbed into the upper reaches of the Swiss Family Treehouse and closed your eyes, listened to that cute little polka, and pretended you were one of the stranded?? How about taking way more time to window shop on Main Street, gazing at those fantastical and downright amazingly creative window displays that only Disney could come up with?? For me, I can, with a perfectly honest answer, say that I haven't done any of those things since I was in high school or perhaps when I was a CM in college. What a pity!!

Touring Tenet #6 henceforth is:

Soldier #1 will spend a good bit more time taking in the weenie rides and attractions that no one else seems to appreciate very often. Maybe you have to get to the decrepit old age of 42 to reminesce the good old days when you were grateful to just BE at Disney with Mom and Dad? Maybe your ummm.... softening body can't do Dinosaur too many times anymore? I don't know, I just know, I'm excited to discover those hidden gems once again! I'm very excited to document it all too, for everyone to enjoy with me again in a Trip Report next year.

Fantastic touring tenets! I heartily agree.

And may I say, without sounding too sappy, that I think you may have listed all your faults, but you just listed one of your best qualities right here. That you are that curious about people, about places, about how things work and why...that's just one of the best things I've heard in a long time. We live in a world where it's so easy to be willfully ignorant and you're not. And I appluad that.

Bet you didn't know you were going to get that kind of response, huh?

On a lighter note, I don't remember the last time I was on the Liberty Belle!

Oddly enough, DH and I were talking about rides past just last night, as in did he ever get to go on Mr. Toad's Wild Ride? Sadly, he didn't. I remember it so fondly. So it's good to go on the other things, the non main things, because you never know when they'll take them away or turn them into something else. :thumbsup2

We love doing this! It's so much fun. Most Resorts have great places to eat as well!

I'm glad to read this one. One attraction I can think of that no one else really seems to appreciate is One Man's Dream at DHS. There's so many people that just walk by it and never go in! They're missing out on something special!

I doubt we'll have time to check out 4 new resorts but we are staying at POP (never been) and going to dinner at HDDR FW(never been). I like how you are planning on going to 4. Great idea!!:thumbsup2

I agree with the trying to see the lesser (is this a word?) known rides. I was trying to find my 'Unofficial Guide to Disney' book to tell you what they say about the riverboat. I just can't seem to find the book right now. There are a few 'new' rides we will be going on this trip too!:goodvibes

Oddly enough... No I didn't! That was a sweet surprise to brighten my electricity-less day. It just came back on a couple of hours ago, and we can safely chalk up another day off for the older kids who depend on a DVD player for lessons. Ugh!

You are right, they are either willfully ignorant or too wrapped up in themselves to care. :sad2: There would be fewer world crises if folks would just take a little time to understand the "other point of view", even if they can't agree. Okay, stepping off my soap box now.

He never went on Mr. Toad?? WOW!! That is definitely on the top of my nostalgic look-back rides. I loved it!

Yes, we plan to hit several, but sadly, we must leave you guessing for a while longer until we nail them down. We're still hashing out the big picture stuff right now. Which can be just as important when you're going with "strangers". :rotfl2:

Yes, that was on the list too. Walt was truly a visionary, way beyond his time. I also want to hit animation studios. In fact, I have a little list I'm compiling of the little hidden gems that I want to look for/visit, but that's getting ahead of myself.

LOVE the new tenets. I for one am one of those strange people that always rides the people mover, what do they call it now? It's something different. But this is at DL, I think it's a nice break from all the crowds and to rest the feet and just people watch. Also love to take a ride around the whole park on the train. Most people just jump on and off at the next stop, I like to ride full circle.

Exploring resorts, LOVE this idea:thumbsup2 I didn't realize on our first and my only trip to WDW that there was so much at the resorts.:confused3 Otherwise I would've done some meals outside the parks on our honeymoon. Have you decided which four you will explore? Or do I have to wait?;)
