Oh, Oh maroo!! Those Strawberries look oh so very good!! I want some of those so bad! We can only get half moldy berries here in the Great Sand Box. :sad1:

Hello to every one who is new!! Glad you've joined the fun! Welcome!

Another great snack!!! I love those! I must say with the exception of the "banana incident" and your aversion to dole whips that your list is in the lead per my snacking standards (cause I know you two are very concerned about my opinion on things - :rotfl:).

LOLOLOL!!! "The banana incident". THAT. IS. FUNNY.!

Okay, since we're drawin' up sides here on this snack deal, here's my thinking on that whole front:

Approximately 1/3 of the Disney experience is all about eating- in highly-themed (VERY important to me), well AC'd places with a bit of the walk on the wild side as far as food goes. I don't want to eat things I can cook myself (and do), but rather things I can't get "over here in the big sandbox"- and I want a LOT of it. I plan to FILL up! Hence, you be seein' some hefty buffet type places on our upcoming dining choices. Let's face it, soldiers work hard, and want to eat well. (Geez, I wish I had a saluting smilie! I think someone used one a while back, but I don't know how to save them, to use them again. Need. tutorial.)

SOOOOOOOOOO, having said all that, I probably won't be doing a ton of snacking, and when I do it'll be lighter fare, and also leaving the possibility of saving them for breakfast the next morning. You can't eat a No Way Jose' in the room before a rope drop, but funnel cakes are a go. ;)

Now that you understand the philosophy I'm using, my list makes more sense, right? That was all just in case you cared. :lmao:

:goodvibes

When was this? That is just too sad! Do you know if it is still available at MK or AK? Can anyone else confirm? I LOVE  the spicy cheese pretzels and had one at MK, AK, and DHS last December. But I don't remember seeing any other flavors except plain.

They did still have the spicy cheese one at DCA last month. I had to wait for it because they were out and making more, but it was worth it!

I may have to ask at the concierge desk when I get there to do some reconnaisance for me! They have technology, they can find them!

That might set the diet back a tad!:lmao:

Ya THINK?!

WOW I discovered your pre trip report last night and so logged on to read it all today (only got to page 2 before had to head home from work) and all i can say is WOW!!!! You guys are a trip and I can't wait to read more about Maroo's Veggie Free Diet at WDW, all7ofus giving out more first hand counts of living across the pond in the middle of the great sandbox, and about Thepreacherswife as she tells us more about her new elected position NOT to mention all the great stories you guys are telling as you plan your trip. Have my popcorn and will be glued to the puter for more great stuff!!!! So keep it up :rotfl:

What an apt description of where we live!!! It is so true! If you want some more pictures, PM me, and I'll give you the address for my blog which has lots of pictures and stories of my, anything but boring, life here.

Editing to say, "duh"! I just realized there's link in my sig. I think I'll go get another cup of coffee now, okay??

I'm so glad you've come on board to yuck it up a bit. (I mean talk there, not be yucky, although some of us are pretty good at being that too.) I hope you will post a ton and help to make things lively!

ok so this morning I was bored as no one had posted on PTR's and TR's that I'm already reading, and 25 pages later, WOW!!!! How I never found your PTR prior, glad I did though...

That's exactly how I found some of my most beloved writers! Although, I'm probably at my max now- I follow too many and get confused and start writing nonsense like I don't know what I'm talking about- cuz I don't!! :lmao:
First you both sound like amazing women, doing great inspirational work. Loved your DIS meet.

I definitely wouldn't say amazing. In fact, I think we're all your average weak and leaky vessels needing to be filled up everyday. :thumbsup2 Being on here is part of my "therapy".

Sorry for your loss

Thanks!! Grandma was a special lady who will always hold an inspirational place in my heart!

Very cool about the Disney letter and donkey though.

VERY!!

Mary- I just moved to TN, so we live pretty close I would guess

East or West??

the Fruit/veggie matters had me :lmao::rotfl2::rotfl:

Keep on her!!!

I also make my own eggrolls (but I have pre-made wraps) and french fries (from real potatoes) etc. I LOVE to cook, and then I know there aren't any icky preservatives and stuff (my DS4 has a semi special diet we tend to)

Homemade just tastes better!!! I think as I start looking at the menus for the places we're going to eat at, I'll try to cook the dish (with the ingredients I can get) and see if people can guess the restaurant before we announce it?? Whatcha think??

LOVE LOVE LOVE your snack lists.

Did I miss anything? Tuning in from now onpopcorn::popcorn::popcorn::

I've just spent the last hour reading your pre trippy. I love it!

I can't remember all the things I wanted to comment on! I love the military theme!

WOW!! A trip writing legend makes an appearance! It's like Obama showing up on a cable TV show or something! Cool beans!

I have an important announcement....

But...I am giving away a little bit of TOP SECRET STRATEGIC PLANNING here...but I am sure anyone reading this could figure this out without my help...

I was hoping for a Bounceback that would allow me to book a discount for OUR September 2010 trip! That is the plan! To attempt to get some sort of amazing discount for our trip next year and be ready with the money to book that sucker!

But...now what? Do you think they will still let me book a bounceback? :scared: Will it be a different bounceback? :scratchin

Timely release of classified info!!! I think people are wondering if we are EVER going to tell them anything that really matters. (As if snacks don't! :lmao:) I mean most people start with their dates and where they are staying, but we just have to be different don't we??! Seriously folks, if we KNEW, we'd TELL you!! It all depends on if and what kind of BB we get! So, hang in there, as soon as maroo gets back with the first of our freedom fighter's booty, we'll get you set up. Until then, you'll have to be marching to a different set of orders.

We need, need, need some sort of bounceback!! :wizard:

Oh, Oh maroo!! Those Strawberries look oh so very good!! I want some of those so bad! We can only get half moldy berries here in the Great Sand Box. :sad1:

Hello to every one who is new!! Glad you've joined the fun! Welcome!

She speaks truth. They are so bad, that we can't even make jam out of them. Most come from south of us like Iran, and that's a long, long way for a sweet little berry to endure in a hot train car! Poor things!

Maroo, love the next snack. Yum!

4 was my guess. My DD is 5 almost 6 and what you have told us about your son reminds me so much of her at that age. Keep the cute comments and stories coming!

Thank you! I'll happily supply you with cute DS stories. :goodvibes

Very exciting about your upgrade Mary :cool1::cool1::cool1:
I'll hope for some disney magic on that trip for a good bounceback deal pixiedust:

My 4yo diet is right now just no nitrates, no dyes, limited preservatives- and he takes an omega 3 supplement. Considering taking dairy out of his diet. He has Autism Spectrum Disorder- he is high functioning and the change in diet has helped.:) he is the reason I learned how to cook. He is my little blessing

I live on the west side of TN, Maroo -Mary I looked it up we are about 3 hrs away from eachother. So a DIS meet may be in order once I get more settled, I would love to sit down with someone that has been to the World so many times to help with my plans. If you are up for it.

Liesa- yes def. make what meals you can and see if they can guess where it came from.

popcorn::popcorn::

Maroo Snacks Continue!!

Have you guys noticed how I have been able to segue into my snacks based on what you guys are talking about?

Or throwing out?

Like this...popcorn::

My favorite little icon to use on trip reports, actually! I am sure some of you are already well aware of that. ahem. TK.

So...taking cues from you guys...our next snack is....

popcorn.jpg

Yep! Popcorn!

Yummy! Salty goodness!

And relatively low in points. Compared to my No Way Jose!

Congrats on the popcorn!!!!

I love popcorn but I can't eat too much of it. I hate it when it gets stuck in my teeth!!!popcorn::

Oh, I am always up for a DIS meet!!!!! :)

I am so glad your son is doing better!

I would absolutely love to help you with you plans! Do you know KathyRN137? If not, you should seek her out on here...she writes awesome pre-trip and trip reports and has a son who is also high functioning on the ASD. She has lots of hints also for doing Disney with that particular special need and has great stories, too!!

Yo Dude!

We cross posted! How cool is that?

Yeah...maybe I will have to skip the popcorn. And it makes you thirsty.

I shot down my own snack in 7 minutes. That must be some kinda record.

Yay for the upgrade to SSR. I would think they would still have some bounceback offer.

Keep the snacks a coming. popcorn::popcorn::

That is coolness maroo! Have you ever tried oozy-sicky-oh-so-yummy-peanut-butter-popcorn? It is SO good, but very rich and sweet. I can only eat a little bit at a time. Here is the recipe...

Pop enough corn to make about 2 quarts
Cook this to a rolling boil
1/2 cup of suger
1/2 cup of light corn syrup or honey

Remove it from the heat and add
1/2 cup of chunky peanut butter
1/2 teaspoon of vanilla

pour over popcon while stirring it to get it all smothered in goodnes.

This fantastic dessert is one of my very favorites. Our family eats it often when we watch movies. Sorry I don't have a picture, otherwise I would definetly post one!

Yes, let's all just be hoping for some BB mojo!

Hey, my family (most of them) lives in Bowling Green, KY! Hopefully, my 2 oldest will end up at Western KY for school in 2010/2011. Maybe I can get in some meet time after we are back and settled :)

Okay, it's a deal. I'll make a dish from our ADR places (or hoped for places) and you can all guess where we going. But that's a ways off yet. We have way too much other fun stuff up our sleeves to wage war with first.

It could be worse-- had any appendicitis lately?

She's a good one to meet with. Fun, fun, fun!

Kathy's great! Lots of great advice.

Okay, that's just weird!!! Pee or get off the pot, woman!

Yay for the upgrade to SSR. I would think they would still have some bounceback offer.

I'm so glad there was one encourager amongst ya'all (that ya'all thang is for maroo- ThePreacher'sWife and I are going to have to refrain ourselves from making suthun comments).

Thanks, MinnieNurse for keeping us on the "believing the magic" track.

Okay, let's just ignore the fact that my daughter, while an almost straight A student, cannot spell. Oh yeah, let's also conveniently forget that her mother is her teacher. Savvy? :scared1::rolleyes1

But all's good! Where she lacks in spelling, she rocks in making THE BEST pizza dough! From scratch.

Let's hope she gets the spelling worked out before nursing school in a couple of years. She may write something in your chart that could be ummm, detrimental to your well-being. Maybe if she joins ROTC, they can make her do 50 more pushups until she can write "D-E-F-I-N-I-T-E-L-Y".

Bekka -

Your Mom is failing you in one area only...

Forget learning to spell. You won't actually write words to chart anyway...you will just click buttons! ;)

...the key is learning to use the tools out there for spell check! For example...on the boards here "Bekka" is underlined in a little red squiggly line because the DIS does not think it is spelled correctly! It may be underlined because of the internet engine I am using (I think it is Chrome on this computer)...but most internet providers have something like this....

anyway...when you see something underlined in red, right click on that word and it will usually show you how to spell it right! :)

Works for me...

most of the time.

And...for the record...you are very lucky to have such a great Mom and teacher!! :teacher:

I wish it were true that I was only failing her in one way- the truth of the matter is that ALL parents have regrets of some kind or another; like, I wish I had spent more time on this or that, I wish they could have done this or that, I wish we would have had this or that..., I wish they could have grown up in the US, gone to clubs or co-ops, made more friends, etc... The list goes on and on.

Generally, our kids are more than wonderful, and they have a good life, but let's face it, we all fall short in one way or another, right?

By the way, spell check is good, until you run into homonyms. There, their and they're have completely different meanings and the grammar/spell checks won't always catch them. You still have to know how to write. ;) My son always messes up witch and which!

As to your snacks... I hope someone comes up with something better than my last comment. That would not be so pleasant, I think. Although most people think that the fermented horse's milk that they enjoy around here is tasty, I think it tastes a little like what pee might be. (No, I"ve never tried pee) Personally, I prefer the camel's milk.

I know, let's add fermented mare's milk to the mix at Club Cool. It may be better than Beverley. :confused3

I love Disney popcorn.

Not too be confused with Maroo popcorn. Which PLAGUES me. ;)

There's nothing better than getting on of those buckets o popcorn. Plus, you get a nice little souvie to take home. And then you put your son's cars in it.

Heck, you put your sons' plethora of cars in the three-four buckets you've brought home over the years, because let's face it, he has that many. :lmao:

My son's cars keep getting stolen by the neighbor kids, so instead of 4 buckets of cars that we've bought, he has 1/2 a bucket.

Like I said before, I think that's a great idea!! :thumbsup2

Your army has the best mess hall going!

Ladies, I love your thread, but I had to quickly (quickly) skim past all the pix of those yummy and decadent snacks because they are giving me the tummy growls!! :rotfl:

:worship: I really reserve the "worship" icon for amazing things people do...

And you losing 15.5 pounds so far is AWESOME!!!!!

Feel free to scroll past our thread...it will get non-food related eventually!!!

I just got back in the house from walking about a mile and a half in the 90 degree heat. I am hoping to drop a little weight myself!

Maroo Snack - In Honor of TK

In honor of TK - since I am constantly bugging her popcorn:: popcorn:: popcorn:: about updating her pre-trippie or filling me in on the latest scoop - and because she has become a good friend over the past several months...

I am going to share with you the wisdom she shared with me before my last trip...

Let me introduce you to...THE PRETZEL.

snack15.jpg

Looks simple, huh.

Maybe even bland?

Oh, let me assure you! It is YUMMY! It is buttery and salty and sweet... a perfect snack! It is sorta crunchy, but soft in the middle! YUM! And it can easily be shared! It is HUGE!

TK gave me very good advice when she said that the best place to get one is in Germany. :thumbsup2

So I figure one one of our strolls around the World Showcase - we are just gonna HAVE to get one of these and split it! (See, I can share food!)
