I would think Dolphin would have shuttle service. Go to the Dolphin/Swan FAQ thread. PM dizbug as she is the expert over there and can give you the facts.
I know WL has suttle so maybe they coud come over you. You can call WL Guest Services to check that out.

I am happy to announce a new feature to "Wild, Wonderful, Wacky WL Weatherman":
I have made a database of “Family Birthdays. Starting with tomorrow’s weather report I will include any birthdays for that day. If I miss your birthday, PM me at once.
The following have elected not to include their birthday in their profile.
If you wish us to celebrate your special day with you, just PM your month and day. Do not include the year as I am aware how sensitive pretty girls are about disclosing their age.

I could use some PD as it is a rough day, but don’t post it as I know you will send me some, thanks.

Relative WL newbie here! (been once a few years back)

Can I get some input on standard room requests? What should I put down? "We'd like to avoid being over the service area"? I'm just not sure what I should request.

Also, if I'm real specific with my request, does that lessen my chance of being upgraded (not that that's terribly likely anyway)?

Thanks in advance to all the WL vets who come to the rescue!!

(Forgive me if this has already been addressed in this thread--I couldn't get through all the pages!)

MaryburkS,

Welcome to the DIS and to our humble WL thread. The service area is on the North Wing, so just request the South Wing and that should take care of the service area problem. As far as being specific affecting upgrades, it depends on how specific you are. If you request a specific room number then it may, but if you just request a view like "would like to be able to see Castle" then if they have a woods view that is empty, then they might give that to you instead of a standard. If it were me, I would just request South Wing, best view possible and then leave it up to the room assigner. You may also want to request beeding arrangement; One King, Two Queens or One Queen and Bunks.

Betsy, I think this is for an emergency contact list only and there would be a few people that have access to it.

I think this was for times when people disappeared for long periods of time we could check up via other means. Kinda like a watch list. :)

You may want to contact Corky as she was the one with the great idea. :)

I thought I had read somewhere that they were no longer accepting room requests???

I found the following info from an All Ears newsletter but maybe it only pertains to fax requests???? I guess that you can still ask on the phone??

ALL EARS(tm) ticket guru, JackM, reports: Effective immediately, Wilderness Lodge will no longer accept faxed in room requests.
All room requests must be added to your reservation by the Disney Reservation Center (WDTC and/or CRO) at least 10 days prior to your arrival at WL. Faxes may be sent to DRC at
407-939-3463 or they may be called in to 407-WDISNEY.

The official Disney policy on room preferences has always been that they need to be added directly to the reservation by DRC and contact with the resort was discouraged. In the past, that policy has not been strictly adhered to as the volume of the faxes received by the resort has been manageable. WL made this decision based on several factors, which included the increase in the number of faxes received and the adverse reaction upon resort arrival of many people who could not have their room requests granted. Currently, each resort is free to adopt this policy or not as they see fit. Do not be surprised if other Disney resorts soon join WL and the DVC resorts in not accepting faxed room requests.

Yes...my DU Agent confirmed this. No faxed requests. I'm depending on the Pixie Dust:crazy:

pewing - just make sure your requests are on your reservation. You should be fine then :)

I posted the no fax request a few weeks back and confirmed it. I also posted you should write down all your preferences before calling for your booking. All requests codes on your confirmation is what will be used at the lodge. I updated the WL Layout on page 2. What you need to list is
View: Standard, Woodsview, inner or outer Courtyard.
Room number, if you have a specific.
Beds
Special needs, Handicap or what ever.
You will still have the option of working with the CM at check in or requesting a room change.

They could put me in the broom closet and I would be happy. Just slip me a piece of cornbread and a cool Mich Ultra ever now and then.

Beth, love the new picture.

Well this is all well and good, but my reservation is through AAA, not Disney, and as calling Disney has confirmed, they can do nothing to my reservation. In fact, they dont even have it yet. AAA doesnt send them info until a few days prior to arrival. At least this is what I was told by both AAA and Disney. So if I fax a room request will they just throw it away?

So where does that leave me? I just have to hope for the best? I've heard an awful lot of complaining about bad standard rooms, and if I'm paying the price for a deluxe hotel, I'd like a nice room. I dont go places expecting freebies and posh service, but I certainly expect to get what I pay for. This is really a once in a lifetime thing for us, and I'd really like something nice. It'll be wonderful no matter what, but really, who wants to look at a loading dock from their balcony? Or trash, for that matter?

I don't mean to rant, but this just seems a little unfair to me. :(

I don’t think you are being unreasonable in your thinking. Having said that, AAA is the only option for you at this point, so I would lean on them. See how much a upgrade to Woodsview would cost.

Your next option is at check in where you can work with the CM directly. Tell them how you feel and see what they will be able to do for you. You just may get lucky, as many have in the past, and get a nice upgrade free.

So you just ask all the nice WL VETS on here to start blowing some PD your way. When is your trip and how long?

Maryburk....Did you try and call AAA to see if they wouold help with your request? When are you going? If it is not high season I think you shouldn't have too much of a problem getting your requests. I am happy to throw some PD your way for a magical vacation where all your Disney dreams come true!!!:wizard: :wizard:

Betsy.....my intent was exactly as Fred and FC have said. I think I know what you meant though....about the template. PM me!

I'm glad that the response so far to my idea has been well recepted.....I will start putting it together while I am waiting for anyone who wants to share their info and hasn't got it to me yet.

I also want to throw some PD and good vibes out......for anyone who needs it!!:wizard: :wizard: :goodvibes :goodvibes

FC, just thought I'd share that the mental pic of the cornbread you mentioned actually had me on the verge of drooling!! LOL It must be this darn diet I must suffer through for all the holiday indulgences.

I know what you mean about the diet from the holidays, They are on me big time. Got a few off so far. Unfortuntly, it means no Cornbread.

Can anyone tell me how easy (or not) it is to do laundry at WL? I have been several times but have never used this service, but I'm going for 15 nights from Thursday 15th Jan, so I'm trying to cut down on the amount of clothes I need to take as I anticipate buying clothes between WDW and Florida Mall.. duh!

What is the best time to use the laundry and what costs are involved?

Thanks!

John :bounce:

I don't remember the cost, but there are only a few machines. I always did the laundry very early in the morning or late at night! One thing I do remember, it takes forever for the clothes to dry!

WL LAUNDRY:
Location: 1st floor across from the elevators down from Roaring Forks

Washers: 5 (med sized loads) $2.00 a load

Dryers: 10 (one out of order) $1.00 for 15 min, (60 min max)

Go in the evening time right before the rush. There is a waiting line till about 11:00pm. If you didn't come back for your dryer in time your stuff is taken out! Everyone is splitting their wash load into 2 dryer loads so it would dry faster.
Most WL Vet Ladies say morning is best time to go.

WL Laundry,

On our last 2 trips ( May and December ) the best time I found was either late morning or early afternoon. On previous trips, the laundry room was packed after 10 pm. Everyone had the same idea. I guess.

Also, on the last trip one washer was out of order but all dryers were functional.
