...Birthday Wishes for my favorite Weather Man!!

Don't worry...they think I'm wacky too (there are really just jealous  )

HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY ROY, AND MAY YOU HAVE MANY MORE!!!

Liv2cdworld- If you get any info on the 10th anniversary, let me know. Our trip is tentatively scheduled for April (if a good code appears!), but I'd consider waiting until May if there were going to be a special celebration.

Majestic- I can't believe you're just "popping down" to the lodge for a few days. Is there room in your suitcase for an extra few people?

Corky- How come our pictures of Jon keep disappearing? Think it's a conspiracy?
;)

And hello to everyone! Hope all is well!

Madgic, look what you started, thank you.
Thanks to one and all your kindness is well received.

Good Mornign Lodgers. Boy I am really dreaming of the lodge fireplace these last few days....it is soooo cold here.

Tig-Girl...last time I checked my pic was still showing so I do not think it is a conspiracy...WHEW!! My guess is that there is a problem with wherever you are hosting your pic.....maybe it's time for a new one!!::yes:: :hyper: :hyper:

Ok lodgers I have a ???/proposition for you!!

There has been some discussion of us having a list of "vets" with contact info....address, "real names" and such.

Anyone who is interested in sharing this info amongst us vets can e-mail or PM it to me and I will put it all together and share with only those that want to participate.
What do you think???

You got PM! Great idea Corky. ::yes::

I am currently planning a trip which will hopefully be at the WL in August 2004. It will be my family of 4, my inlaws, and maybe one of my friends and her family of 4.

I would like to have connecting rooms with inlaws if possible.

I started reading the beginning of this thread but haven't had time to get far. I love that you have all of the good info at the beginning. Great job!

Also, DD and I toured the lodge before Christmas when we were there and ate at WCC and loved it. So I am a little familiar.

My questions so far.
1. Does anyone remember any AP rates that they got last summer?
2. Should I book the rooms and then wait for AP rates? Or will I be able to book when the rates come out? I was thinking of booking POR and then switching to WL if good AP rates come out.
3. If I book a standard room, will the noise/view really be a problem? Do all of the standard rooms have this problem. Or would it be worth it to upgrade to woods view?

These will get me started. Thanks in advance for your help.

Can't help ya with question 1 as I am nor have I ever been an AP member.

For 2, You can book early and cancel if you must as it gets closer. If I recall correctly, you don't have to pay in full till a few weeks before the trip actually happens. Any deposit you put down should apply to a new reservation if you need to change things later.

As for issue 3, If I were you, vacation time to me is important. I had a room that overlooked the service area and it wasn't fantastic. I would ask for the Woods View at a minimum. Personally, I will do nothing less than Courtyard or Concierge but I like to spoil myself. :) Heck, how often do you get to go to Disney World anyway???? ::yes:: :wave2:

Hope this helps.

Hi Donna,
I will take a stab at a couple of your ??'s

1. I do not remember the exact dollar amount but I do remember it working out to about a 45% savings off rack rate.

2. In my opinion if you really want to stay at WL you should go ahead and book in the near future. THen apply AP rates IF they are released. If you are only planning a stay at WL if you get a AP rate then I would wait. The bottom line is that if you don't book ahead and then the rates come out and you can't get availability I would hate to see you get diappointed. Particularly since it seems you will need more than one room.

3. I haven't actually stayed in a standard room so I will leave that ? to someone with first hand experience.

While we are moving up to the front, have you tried Trails End Buffet at FW, very good and reasonable. Also the Ft. Wilderness Campfire behind Meadows Trading Post is a fine time. Free disney Movies.
OK here we are, enjoy WL

Fred - I have a template for a contact list for the DMB board that I am on..I could set it up for us if you like

Hi All!

Stopping to check everyone out! Still unwinding from our XMAS trip to WL, and XMAS itself!

Corky, great idea! PM, on the way!

Thanks for the info.
I think I am going to end up booking at POR and hope for codes to come out for summer and try to switch then.
My inlaws won't be able to afford WL without a code.
I am using DU and my agent said she will make a note to check WL AP rates when they come out.
You talked me into at least Woods View if there isn't much difference in price.

Thanks for the great job on this thread and all of the info.

Donna

I have asked on the general boards....but I wanted to ask you WL vets too.

We are staying one night at the Dolphin and then transferring over to WL.

Best way to do that?
