Great question! My 'deciding factor' is actually three-

1. Proximity to MK- loved the idea of being able to take a boat

2. Guest capacity is on the smaller end of the scale- I liked the idea that there wouldn't be mobs of people everywhere- more intimate- as much as you can be with 700 or so rooms!

3. Theme- I'm an outdoor gal at heart- hence my user name- and loved the pics I saw and concept.

I totally made the right choice and can't imagine staying anywhere else if I can help it! I'm also totally addicted after a 20 year absence. I'm already trying to plan a Dec '04 trip for early in the month- no Christmas week crowds for me!

We went the 1st week in December on our last two family trips...LOVED it!! Low, if any, crowds...all decorated for Christmas...wonderful weather (well...it did rain a fair bit last year, but it didn't slow us down )

We have a ten year Anniversary for The Lodge coming in May 2004.

We were lucky enough to be at the lodge for the 5 year Anniversary in 1999. They had a shin-dig in the lobby with guest speakers talking on the 5th floor overlooking the lobby.

They also left nice pens with Wilderness Lodge and the 5 yr anniversary date engraved on them. It was pretty neat.

Yes, we were there on the day of the anniversary. That's when all the festivities took place. I don't know who spoke that day, but they also had Mickey and Minnie stop by for the celebration.

what you northerners don't understand is that it has been in the 80's here for over a week with 80% humidity, when it drops to 61 and 50% humidity..our blood is too thin to take it and it freezes in our veins....BRRRRRR!!!!

Northerners? Ha! It's a crisp 30 degrees in Alabama (of course we are in north alabama ) and it was a painful 17 when I took the boys to school today
