maidmarion - Yes, the kids in my siggie will be with us. At the time of our trip, my 4yr old (turning 5 on XMas) will have his 5th trip under his belt. My one yr old will have his 2nd under his belt. :)

I have some pics of the Lodge at Christmas and I swore I'd email them to Majestic (Fred).... But I just haven't had time to dig them up.

swampkatz - I think there are 2 elevators. One is in the lobby after the Front Desk and Guest Services. The other is in the north wing down the hall from Roaring Forks.

FC - got your email, Thanks!

The water levels in Bay Lake do fluctuate but not over night so I'm sure the information would be posted. Yes each Wing has a set of elevators apx half way down the hallways plus the large elevator banks in the Lobby.

On page two of this thread FloridaCat has listed a very good lay-out and room locations in his post..
"Elevators in the wings are located where Wing A & B connect. Rooms to the far end have a long walk to the elevators or use the stairwell on the end to go to the pool or boat dock. It is my opinion that the North side offers more in convenience."

If you go to Page two you will get a better Feel for the Lodge if you have a map to refer to.

Elevators are located in the main lobby, at the intersection where the two wings intersect. There are none at the very end of the wings. You can tell where they are in pictres, the tall towers.

Like DisneyDmbNut said they have a ramp that will allow you on most water level conditions. There is a small sign on your right at the begginning of the boardwalk to the docks.

To make sure, you should contact WL Guest Services on using a motorized chair, I have seen only the very small ones and wheelchairs board. boats and buses
The small launches will ot be able to handle this.

The exit to the Courtyard for you will be down the long ramp on the left side of the lobby, pasts AP. At the end of the ramp, go to your left and the doors across from RF is zero entry. The path to the bus depot is zero entry. All others would have steps. You could request a ground floor Access room. They have a King bed and a roll in shower, no tub.

Thank you all. I thought I had read this thread thoroughly, I thought wrong. Page 2 of this thread is amazing. Thank you FC. This is OT, but I guess I'm just a little bit apprehensive about the upcoming trip. I can walk, just not too far and it ain't pretty but I think I'm pretty blessed. I've got a manual wheelchair and I used it at DW last March. I thought I did pretty good with it, I even hauled myself up that incline at the gorilla viewing area in the AK. I can't lift it to put it in the car but once it's on the ground and I'm in it, I do okay. I thought I was going to be getting a scooter and I was pretty happy about that but the MD and several physical therapist vetoed that idea saying that it would really tire my arms out to use the handlebar type thing
( obviously they didn't see me take that incline!). So, in 2 weeks they will be delivering my bright red, joystick controlled electric chair. It breaks down into pieces but even broken down some of the pieces are real heavy. I think it weighs about 250 lbs. assembled.
I do not wish to make the News and Rumors board by sinking a launch or running over someone with "the chair" I am grateful that we have the ways and means to get a chair like this, I'm just a wee bit scared of it and the crowds and I wouldn't be as scared if we weren't going the most crowded week of the year.
Please don't think I'm whining, in the grand scheme of things I have a very good and blessed life, just want to have a well though out plan before I get there.
Thanks again!
Kathi

Just wanted to say hey to everyone. Been in NY all week and the hotel I was at charged $.60 a minute for local calls!!! That made surfing the a web a wee bit expensive. Took all my cool fall clothes and burned up all week with your warm weather. Why do they have to turn the air off in all the buildings? Came back to cold weather here.

Good luck to all heading down. Enjoy.

Kimmar- Lot's of new "faces" showing up here. You must be proud.

FC- What's happened to TB (or are you a suffering Bears fan)? We are thouroughly enjoying the Chiefs run here.

kathi.. I just got back from WDW not even a week ago and I saw your motorized chair used by many and everywhere. I even complemented one nice lady by the pin cart and told her she had one nice cadillac there..It was shiny red and a beaut.. We even pin traded. So, not to worry..just have a magical time::yes:: PD coming your way:wave2:

KCdisdad. Try the internet cafe on 42 St right next to Madame Tausauds wax museum next time (if its convenient to where you stay)..its cheap. We sure did have warm weather (indian summer) but today its 41, so back to the norm, for now. When I got back last weekend, I felt like I never left Fl..it got into the hi 70's. I went hiking on Sunday and admired the fall foliage.

FC: I just went through my pics again..I noticed Im holding on to the Bears Nose!!! I didnt even realize I had taken a pic like that until now. Woo..that bear draws you in and the hand goes straight to his cute nose.. What Magic. Thanks for bringing that up, I would have never realized the importance.

I have a great pic of a bears paw print from the cement...and the beaver biting the brass rail in the elevators. I noticed every little thing. I took a pic of my door with the teepee on the bottom and alot of the art work around the lodge. I have to post these pics on the WL photo site. Oh,,I have some nice pics of myself, DS and Ranger Stan.

I miss the lodge:( I cant wait to go back:Pinkbounc ::yes::

You and your new Red Toy enjoy the Lodge and all it's magic. If you have any problems while there Guest Services is at the end of the Front Desk, towards the main elevators. They are only to
anxious to help.

Most attractions have a wheelchair line, so look for it an bypass the standby line.
Don't worry about your driving and the crowds, just slow and easy does it. I am glad you can walk for a short distance as you will get to do some rides and shows. As an example, the AK Safari has a special pick up spot for wheelchair folks and the CM wil be there to help you get on the bus, early mornig is best as more animlas are out, enjoy. The Lion King show has a special line and you get front row, great show. there are many more like this, just ask any CM in the park.

Starz723 You made my day, see how the Magic got all over you?

KCDISDAD I predicted this was going to happen to TB. On the local sport shows they were more then cocky. They forgot to put the effort where their mouths were.
Yes a DaBears. Talk about a glutton for punisment.
KC is doing great and my baby Sister in MO is not letting me forget it. I am a big fan of Vermeil and happy for him.

Everyone have a special day

Just saw a commercial on TV, that McDonalds' has new Brother Bear characters in the Happy Meals...I gotta get me the "Mooses and Bear"...Just don't want the meal.... :teeth:

SWAMPKATZ
Like FloridaCat said, just take it nice and easy....You'll be a Pro before lunch....have a great trip, and Pixie Dust for your trip.

OMG!!! My DH ran to the store and just gave me my very own "MOOSE" he is now watching me from the top of my terminal.
OH BOY !! A Happy Meal for lunch...

Hey all, especially FloridaCat,

My DH and I were watching the House of Mouse this morning during breakfast and guess who was on the show?

Yes, it was Humphrey, the bear (and the Ranger). I laughed and thought of you FC. He was working and all he did was want to steal the food. There was also a classic cartoon on with Humphrey, the Ranger (with the Ranger's original voice) and Donald Duck.

It's almost like Humphrey is becoming the thread's mascot. ::yes::

Have a great Saturday all. :D

I just saw a great thread asking if there was a "bad" woods view room at WL. We are staying in a courtyard view room next week and are thinking of requesting South side 4th floor for the view of the EWP. We also need non smoking and would like bunk beds. I know we will have a great time regardless of the room location/view but I figure faxing in a request for a certain area or room can't hurt.
Has anyone had a "bad" courtyard view room and if so, let me know where it was so we can try to avoid it if possible?

Thanks!

Room numbers 4113, 4145 has bunk beds. In your fax request "Inner Courtyard Bunk Bed room in the area of room 4113 ot 4145" Would like view of EWP. PD on your trip.

dizneykid, Far out, thanks for sharing. Amazing how the Magic can make things bright and cheery.

KCDISDAD- Funny, I was going to recommend the very same Internet cafe that Starz723 did. Where in New York were you?

Starz723- Too bad about the weather- just about froze outside today, thinking I could still wear my fall/spring jacket. Guess it's coat weather now.

Question for all- Would I have a better chance for an upgrade if i don't make a room request? Reading the upgrade thread on this forum made me wonder if i might be better off taking my chances and leaving myself open to an upgrade? Any specific experience to the Lodge?

maid marion~

I would say go ahead and request. Last year we had a standard view and faxed in a request for a room in a certain location and we were upgraded to woodsview at check in. We didn't ask, they just gave it to us. I don't think requests will lessen your shot at an upgrade. I think it all depends on how full the resort is when you go. Have fun on your trip.:D

I know this has probably been asked and answered about a million times already but....can anyone tell me how far it is to the campfire at Ft Wilderness?? Is it walkable with a 5 and 2 year old? If you don't walk, what is the other ways to get there?:scratchin
Thank all of ya'll for the help....I LOVE THIS PLACE!!!:love2:

Shannon::MickeyMo

Ga Girl Hi!
It is around a mile through nice wooded trail! Path well marked, but I don't think it is lit at nite. I think it would be too far of a walk for your little ones, even in the daytime! Just go to the boat dock and ride the boat over and back for the campfire, once you are at the campground you will have to take the bus to the campfire! I,m sure they will love it. They also show movies at the campground, someone usually has the schedule for the month!

Shopgirl:earsgirl:

for the info. Even though I walk 3 miles a day, don't think the rest of my crew would be able to handle 1 mile. :scared:

When do Chip and Dale make their appearance?? Sorry for all the questions, but when I do a search there is so much to read through and I don't have alot of time for sitting still.
Thanks again:wave2:

Hi! Questions are always welcomed here!! Here is some info I think may help!

Shopgirl:earsgirl:

The campfire program is open to all WDW resort guests. It generally begins around 7:00 p.m. during the fall/winter season and 8 p.m. after the time changes in April through the summer. It is held near the Meadow Trading Post in the campfire area. The program begins with a sing-along led by a Disney CM and a marshmallow roast around two campfire rings. You may bring your own marshmallows or buy them at the Chuckwagon (roasting sticks and marshmallows are $2). You may also buy pizza, hot dogs, candy, nachos, juice, popcorn, sodas, coffee, beer and other refreshments at the Chuckwagon. While this is going on, Chip and Dale make an appearance to visit with guests and sign autographs. The sing-along lasts about 40 minutes. Next, one or two Disney animated features, depending upon the season, are shown on a large outdoor screen. Seating is available in bleachers or on benches. There is also plenty of room to lay out a quilt or blanket. The movie schedule is posted at all comfort stations. In the event of rain, the sing-along is still held on the porch of the Meadow Trading Post.

Hello to all of you Wilderness Lodge experts!

We are wondering if there is such a room as this: overlooks the lobby, has bunk beds, and has good view??

Our first preference is the bunk beds. Our DSs will be 16 and 13 on our next trip and will not share a bed.

Secondly, we think it would be a lot of fun to have a room that overlooks the lobby. Noise isn't a big concern for us.

Thirdly, we'd LOVE to have somewhat of a nice view. What I mean by nice is, either a view of the castle, or the pool or some other water, or pond.

Can someone tell us what views are available, taking our first 2 preferences into account??

Thank you SO much, in advance :wave2:

:wave2: thanks again shopgirl. Sounds like something we will do ::yes:: Its amazing that we have been to Disney for the past 12 years and have never stayed at the Wilderness Lodge, (we have visited) or never done the campfire:scratchin Well I plan to change all that in about 23 days!!! :wizard:
