I’m gonna whip through this one pretty fast, but it was a good weekend and deserves a little report of its own!

Now, remember that I’d decided to skip the Adults-Only Food & Wine trip this year. Well, after a less-than-stellar weekend at WDW with Gramma and Leo, it took no convincing at all to get me back the following Sat. for F&W. And from there, it took even less for me to decide to spend the night. I had a lot of schools tuff to do, but I figured I could do it as well at WDW as at home, right? So, in the span fo 2 days, I went from “no Adults-Only F&W” to “Hellsyeah, Adults-Only F&W!”

A nice little rate on a BWV studio didn’t hurt, either. Heh heh.

So, Sat. morning, Nov. 8, I hit I-4 eastbound at 7:45am and arrived at BWV around 9am. And, catch this – my room was ready!

Better yet – my room was on the top floor, 2 doors from the elevator!

Even better – I walked in and saw the view… UPGRADE! I paid for a standard view and got a pool view, minus the scary clown face. Bonus!

It also happened to be a handicapped-accessible room, which meant the sink was in the bathroom, instead of a separate area, and there was no tub. All of which was fine for just me, but I wouldn’t want that with Leo and Gramma along.

It was the perfect room for my needs and I took some time settling in. My friends weren’t due to arrive for another few hours, so I headed over to DHS to take some photos for a school project. I also rode RNRC while I was there; using the single riders line, I only waited about 10 minutes, compared to the posted standby wait of 30. I also got to ride next to a young boy who was with his family, but they were doing the single riders line. His two older siblings wound up in the seats in front of us, so I asked if this was his first time on RNRC. It was, and he looked excited, but a tad nervous. So I told him he was going to love it and it was a GREAT ride! We gave each other five and laugh-screamed our way through the ride. When we pulled into the unloading station, he looked around the harness and said “That was so AWESOME!” He was right – it was! :goodvibes

It was around 11am by the time I got back to my room, and I was hungry. So I sunscreened up and set out for EP. Stopped at the Morocco F&W booth for my favorite offering, Kefta (ground beef and sautéed onions/peppers in a pita) and enjoyed it on a shady bench. I then headed up toward Future World to wait for my friends, who were running very late. Found a bench in the shade and just enjoyed sitting quietly, people-watching.

Char and Meg finally arrived, and we set out in our quest for food and wine.

First stop was frozen mojitos… yes, I braved the Disney Mojito and it was GOOD! Next was the Mouse Catch and its gigantic cheese plate. Yum. More friends arrived and we continued around the World. I can’t remember all the stops, but I know I just wasn’t in a bacchanalian mood and only sampled maybe 3-4 more things. I know there was a glass of wine in there, and a Pomegranate Kir from France… red curry shrimp from India… beer… oh, and Meg’s and my customary stop at the sake bar in Japan:

As the day wound down, we settled in at the Rose & Crown for some sing-along fun. And beer. :rolleyes1

About 8pm, I was done. There was a Gators game coming on that I very much wanted to see, as did two others in our group. So we decided to try the ESPN Club for it. After a not-too-long wait in line, we not only got in, we got a table front row center, smack dab in front of the freaking JumboTron TV! What a perfect end to the night, as the Gators annihilated Vandy :teeth:

Pointing out the Gators lead.

Why I love ESPN. I took this inside a stall in the ladies’ room.

I headed back to my room when the game ended and fell quickly to sleep. The next morning, I got up around 7, had some breakfast and went for a run around the lake after about an hour of writing. I don’t run, by the way. Hurts my knees too much. But after being lapped TWICE by a guy in his 70’s, I picked up the pace and got my run on.

My legs still hurt. :headache:

But it was a great work-out; I made it twice around the lake and followed it up with some crunches and push ups in the room. Showered and changed, I headed out to DTD for some holiday shopping. Char and Meg had stayed at the Best Western at DTD and met up with me after I’d emptied my bank account at WoD. We enjoyed a lovely lunch at Wolfgang Puck Express – my first time there. I’ll be back for sure – it was fantastic! We did a bunch more shopping, then went our separate ways to go home.

So see – it really wasn’t that exciting from a reader’s perspective, but it was an idyllic weekend for me. I came home feeling much restored, in good health and satisfied with the amount of work I’d accomplished. Yay me!

Wow, My DS would be so impressed with the ESPNTV in the bathroom. Oh, he probably already knows because he and my DH went there while DD and I did the Tea at GF. :headache:

Oh, and it's looking pretty good that we (AL Roll Tide ;) ) might see your Gators in the finals. :rolleyes1 Actually, I'm not really an AL fan, but my DS is and it has been a loooonnngg time since they have had a good team, so I am happy for him.

This sounds like such a wonderful little getaway and breather! I'm so glad you did that for yourself. One of the benefits of living so close, eh! I'm jealous!!

Thanks for sharing.

OK, I am so glad you are still writing this, but um, doing laps in WDW, yeah I just don't get that.;)

Glad you enjoyed your weekend getaway.

I remember Evan's first time in the men's room at Anaheim's ESPN Zone and came running back to the table to tell me he watched TV while he peed. :lmao:
