Lights! Motor! Asian?--Feb 2010 Part II. 11/6-Pix, part 2. Page 199.

Hi folks, I just wanted to drop a quick note to check in. Sorry we've been underground for a long while. Been busy planning my father-in-law's (Rev. Dave's) memorial service next weekend. Wendy's been busy helping her mom with all the details, preparing the program, checking with friends who are helping and I've been working on a slideshow. Jordan will be busy too as we've recruited him to be our family liaison with the mortuary service.

All in all, everyone is taking the loss of my father-in-law in stride. Wendy's mom has been keeping busy watching our kids and planning for the funeral service and we're trying to keep a closer eye on her.

Thanks to everyone for your thoughts, prayers, condolences and kind words for our family. You guys are our extended family and we wish we could give you all a big hug.

Hopefully after next week's service we can resume to happier discussions about WDW trips, future trips, etc. Jordan still owes us a trip report on his stay in Palm Desert (near Palm Springs) at our time share that we funded for him. Some of you saw his infamous feet picture at the pool on Facebook.

Take care,

Derek, Wendy, Erin, Dylan, Ashlyn (and that other guy...what's his name?)
:confused3

Welcome back Camille!

We went to Ojeda's last night - local dive joint with great sour cream chicken nachos and margaritas.

Lots of  and prayers for all of you. You guys come back when YOU are ready. There is no rush. We will all be here. Glad to read that you are all doing a little better. :flower3:

Hey there my Texas sista! Thank you for your warm welcome home! Are you finally catching up on work? Your local dive sounds like heaven. You have a Chuy's in Dallas now, I don't know where it is but if you like Tex-Mex you'll love this place! :goodvibes

Thank you for the update Derek. It sounds like things are going as well as could be expected for such a time as this. We sure miss you all.

Almost caught up on work except that they keep bringing me more. :lmao: Not getting too much done today, but I doubt if anyone expects too much the day before a three day weekend.

Yep, we do have a Chuy's in Dallas, not that far from my house! Burritos as big as yo' head, I love it. There is also a place by the other dive that was on Diners, Drive Ins and Dives that I want to try but it is closed for remodeling right now.

Sorry for the threadjack! :offtopic:

Ha! I was thinking the same thing. I actually wanted Chuy's but everyone wanted to get home instead of eating out one more time.

Weeeee're back!!

Welcome Back Millie!! I've missed your sweet presence on the DIS! How was your trip? I'm sure we'd all like a report ;)

Hi Derek, thanks so much for checking in. We've all been holding your family up in prayer. I thought the service would have been last weekend, but you probably needed more time with such a big group. Will send extra prayers up this weekend for sure - we are all looking forward to the return of the "crew" :grouphug:

Saw this and thought I'd share! :goodvibes

Thanks for checking in, Derek! Hugs to everyone!

Wendy, I'm so sorry for your loss! It just never seems like the right way or the right time for our loved ones to leave us behind. My grandmother died if a chronic health problem a couple of months ago and we are all still trying to re-focus our lives with out her. I hope you all are coming together as a family unit and supporting one another. That is the silver lining.

Jordan, I really admire you for sharing your personal history here with all of your cyber friends. I often worry that I am too open with my own life and it's nice to know that I'm not the only crazy one who feels comfort in sharing. If you'll allow me a few lines of your space to share something now. I was very religious until Phoebe was a couple of years old. I tried using religion to help me make sense of a very unpredictable and challenging situation. Frankly, I loved my daughter more than myself but I was heartbroken that she would possibly never speak, never walk, never live the life I dreamed a daughter of mine would have. The religion didn't help. I sometimes feel like the odd one out when other special needs parents bring up faith and prayer. I still can't fathom how the tragedies of the world fit into the picture of a loving god. I am not at all trying to tell you to let go of your faith. I'm actually sharing this to let you know that I think most of us have a challenge in our lives that will shake us to our very core. I admire you for facing it head on. I hope that you will also share with us whatever answers you find for yourself. Surprisingly, I am more at peace now than I was when I was trying to find an answer with my religion. I don't know if that means I will find my way back to God, or if I have let go of the impulse to control the details in my life and just live it. Anyway, thank you.

Saw this and thought I'd share! :goodvibes
