Has anyone tried to use Lightening Lane if you only have a Flip Phone without internet? I would need some kind of a Smart Phone - correct? TIA

Yes, you need a smart phone otherwise how would you connect to the internet to be able to access the app?

It won't be very efficient but you can always go to the blue experience umbrellas and they can help you book a lightening lane reservation. It won't be very convenient but they can book it and tell you a return time where you can then scan your ticket or magic band.

Given how long the waits often are for the blue umbrellas I’m not sure your’e saving much time here versus just doing standby.

Thanks for your answers. I have a large size lap top computer at home. I do have the My Disney Experience - but on my computer AT HOME. It just seems pitiful that NOW, in order to enjoy the parks, and get what used to be called "Fast Pass", I would have to buy a different phone, and incur higher cell phone bills each and every month. I have already done about 20 WDW trips, but it is such a change for me to need to be connected to internet every minute of the day. while on vacation. I have been obsessed with WDW for so many years - it is my passion. I probably resent being connected to internet all day because I am now a "senior citizen". I still love doing a solo WDW vacation! Thanks very much for your help.

You could always buy the cheapest smartphone you can find, even used if it is current enough to download the app, and just use it for MDE, not as your phone. My first few years of using MDE I used an iPod Touch, which wasn’t a phone. So long as you can access wifi, you don’t have to be able to make calls. Since Apple just came out with a new model, I would expect a lot of refurbished phones to show up for purchase soon, and I am sure you can find refurbished Android phones as well.

Of course, you don’t have to use Genie. On my last trip, I had an iPhone, but it was too old to download the most recent version of MDE (it was from 2014) so I just used the standby line. It’s not ideal, but if buying a newer phone is something you don’t want to do, it’s always an option.
