Letter from Member Services.

We are staying at OKW (our Home Resort) the last week of September.
I received a letter today from MS regarding the main pool being closed , which of course I already knew.
The letter stated it will close on 9/6 - Mid December .
It is interesting that they stated "Due to interest generated from our Members" as their reason for adding the slide.

It mentioned that the Turtle Shack will be open Daily and that there will be no access to a Kiddie Pool.

It states that we can pool hop to everywhere except AKL and SAB as we all know and I found this interesting "We also request that you utilize resort transportation to access other Disney resorts when pool hopping". I do not know about anyone else but when I am at OKW I have a car and I an going to drive to the resort to pool hop, Disney tranportation is wat to inconvenient to go from one resort to another.

"In addition the Disney Vacation Club ferry will be available to transport members to Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort."

Sounds like no special shuttle as someone else had posted but the ordinary ferry on its wat to DTD.

This is a little disheartening. I'm staying at OKW in the beginning of November with my small children (1 and 3). I had thought that the kiddie pool/ area was going to be open??? Pooling hopping with small ones (especially using DIsney transportation) will not be fun!

I would guess the reason the are basically "strongly suggesting" the use of WDW transport to poolhop is they may be afraid that there will be a large increase in those that are pool hopping and don;t want to put a burden on other resorts parking lots. Personally, I may request a building near HH during our early December trip...maybe there will be fewer people wanting to stay in that area with the pool closed

Thanks for bringing this up! Although our home resort is BWV, we were unable to book there in mid-October (we weren't DVC members until April) so we're staying at OKW instead. Guess I never gave much thought about it affecting us until reading your post! We may have to give more consideration to the water parks, in addition to or instead of pool hopping. 15-year old DS is more interested in the water parks anyway. DH and I are getting to an age where we totally avoid some of the tubes & slides -- in the interest of self preservation!!

Just to follow up.
I love the "leisure pools" at OKW. and usually request near Turtle Pond.
I agree with Chuck that they do not want to Burden the other resorts parking facilities therfore are encouraging the use of Disney Transporation but lets be honest how many people are going to pool hop that way. Not many unless they are leaving MK to go the CR , Poly or Epcot to BW.

I knew about the closure when I booked and figures we usually only swim at Turtle Pond. If that gets overcrowded maybe we will check out SSR.
