Lets use this thread to track Port Upgrades

At the port where do you physically go to try and upgrade ?

The Supervisors Desk :). You need to do your regular check in first, then ask the cm to point you in the direction of the Supervisors desk.

I love this thread. I just booked a cat T for a 5 night on the Wonder in October 2014. I also booked another room for my DB and DSIL in a Cat 6A. Both of the rooms booked with DVC points. It sure would be sweet if I could get an upgrade for DB and DSIL for a good price...guess time will tell.

Between now and then guess I will keep my fingers crossed and keep reading this thread...

#1. What catagory did you pay for? 7a
#2. Which Ship? Dream
#3. Number of Nights? 3
#4. Month/Year of Sailing June 13
#5. What was your Port of Arrival time assignment? 1130
#6. What time did you check-in? 1045
#7. What catagory were you offered for upgrade? T
#8. How much was the upgrade? $825

There was no one in line when we walked to the supervisors desk. They had 3 1-bed suites avail. We took one and the people behind us took one. We also spoke to the 3rd family who got the last one. Everyone was really happy! Concierge was great!

Question please...We have a cruise booked for October 26th 7-day western on the Fantasy...if I am doing it right it looks like all Concierge level rooms are gone. Since I cruise on DVC points and don't know...when is final payment due for the folks paying cash? I was hoping maybe something would open up after that and I could snag an upgrade at the port????

It should be 75 days in advance, but many concierge will pay in full before that so they can book excursions.

But it doesn't really matter. Anyone could book concierge right up to the day you sale, so you'll need to check to see if anything is still available 3 days before you cruise, and then hope it still is available at check in.

Maybe people aren't getting as many upgrades due to all of the special rates filling the ships and thus leaving less available upgrades at the time of sailing? Also now that it's summer the ships might be pretty full by embarkation day. Maybe?

They are currently contacting random people prior to sailing and offering discounted upgrades that way also. This is very recent.

Don't give up. We tried to upgrade for 6+ months. Still, nothing available the day prior to sailing. Lo and behold, we snagged, not nor BUT two Cat Ts!! :dance3:

I am curious to know if they call only those with reservations made directly through DCL or if they are calling people with reservations made via TA?

You can go to the DCL website and pretend book your cruise to see what the final payment date is. Most final payments as due 75 days out but some are due even 4-6 mos out I think. Of there's no concierge available the day or two before your sailing then they likely won't be available.

This gives me hope but if it is not meant to be we will still have a fantastic cruise in the room we have right now!

Thanks to everyone who answered or addressed my question...you guys ROCK!

Nothing to add yet but sure hoping for one in October! Will be glad to report if it happens!

Can you please explain this to me a little bit....
I saw a video of a family that upgraded to the Royal Suite and then searched to find this thread. Do they automatically offer you an upgrade when you're checking in? Wouldn't these "upgrade" amounts be the same for everyone, if not how do they come up with the amount or decide what they offer families?

Sorry to be so clueless! We had to cancel our cruise a few years ago and are just now booking our first cruise!!! First cruise, EVER. :yay::woohoo::banana::cool1:

You have to check in then go to a separate desk to inquire about an upgrade. Sometimes there is a sign up stating no upgrades available. An automatic upgrade can happen but it will be before arrival at port.
