Let's use care when staying at our DVC Home

I just want to say that I don't believe its renters contributing more to the wear and tear of the units. I rent a wonderful home in the town I live and take care of it as if it were mine. My landlord pays for anything I want to improve in the house, we have updated almost everyroom in the house. Our yard is beautiful and the house is better than when we moved in. Likewise when I rent DVC points and I have rented over 5 times when I am in any room/home I take care of it, I don't let my kids trash the place and we respect that we are renting. I bet the people who disrespect hotel rooms that there cars are a mess inside, not washed, yard a mess at home and inside the house its a mess and trashed. It has nothing to do with renting it has everything to do with how people think and behave.

I definintely agree that it's our responsibility to help care for our vacation homes as we would our permanent homes, whether we own or rent. I make sure my children clean up after themselves, don't jump on the beds or couches, and so on, as they would at home. Just because we are on vacation I do not let them get away with things that they would never dream of doing at home.

We have lots of fun, however, but we make sure we leave the place we stay at in the same condition as when we arrived.

I've been staying at DVC WDW resorts for 6 years, and regular deluxe WDW resorts going back to '81.

In general... It seems that DVC WDW resorts do not keep to the same level of quality as regular WDW deluxe resorts. This is not to say that DVC resorts are unacceptably unclean (though some of the stuff mentioned here I would consider unacceptable). I just mean to say that the two resorts are different in terms of quality maintained. I've learned to accept this for the most part, but I can't help but feel a little cheated now and then, like every time I have to sit on a dingy white plastic patio chair, while my neighbors next door at the Beach Club Resort sit on fine white enamel coated wrought iron chairs. The point is not that one chair is superior over another chair, it's just the idea that BCV doesn't get the same treatment as BC Resort.
