"Let's See What We Can See!"- Surviving WDW With Three Under 3! New TR Link 5/7!

I'm hoping to get tickets to OBB during the general sale tomorrow. My wife and I are going to DL in October as well, but at the beginning. I have a work function that's like 10 miles from Anaheim so we are going to leave the kids behind and have a DL weekend without them. My first time going to DL since I'm in Alabama.

Just got all caught up!
I'm so jealous that Flower and Garden was still going on when you were there- it looked SO empty without it when we were there this week. Oh- and Test Track. Such a different trip just a few weeks later. My daughter really missed the food booths.
Hopefully they will be there in April!

And WHOO HOO for your future travel plans. I just splurged with our Bounce Back offer on Poly for my Girls' Getaway Weekend next August.

Can't wait to hear what the kiddos thought of everything!

I sent her a picture as evidence ;)
She did! I was so excited!
It wasn’t too strong and very sweet, which is always a huge plus for me. Great recommendation, Katie! :)
I am so glad you liked it! Definitely one of my must gets in Epcot!
Another picturesque night in The World! Bye Epcot!

Check out that crazy sunset!
These two photos are what I love most about Disney. My absolute favorite time of Day in Disney.
Haley responded, “Oh, it’s fine, except for the minor issue that Evie swallowed a penny this afternoon.”
Oh no! Hopefully if she did swallow it, it passed peacefully and will be a good story for the future lol. I broke my arm the day before a trip last year, got my cast then headed straight to the airport :rotfl2:
CHEERLEADERS. EVERYWHERE.
This is a nightmare! I don't blame you for not staying long.
we would always get hot chocolate in our resort mugs and watch a Lifetime movie in the room to end the night
This is such a sweet memory! I love it!

You and Jake had a really busy park day! I'm glad to hear Mission Breakout is better than ToT. I'm not a fan of ToT, but my kids are going to drag me on Mission breakout multiple times on our upcoming DL trip. Now I'm really excited to try it!

Your drink from England sounds really nice and refreshing. I'll have to keep it in mind for a future trip. And since I lived in England for 4 years and have a special place in my heart for the country, I strongly support a visit there.

The red velvet cake from Gideon's is really, really rich. It was my least favorite cake that I've tried, so don't lose hope on all the other cakes!

Kudos to you for trying and surviving Guardians!

Oh my gosh, swallowing a penny the day before a trip!!! Kids, man. It's never a dull moment with them. Your poor sister and brother in-law.

Wow what a great Epcot day! I'm so proud of you for riding GOTG. I did it once and haven't worked up the nerve to do it again. It I ever do ride again I would really love to get September. This is a family favorite song. It's great that it means so much to you and Jake.

I'm impressed with all the great food and drinks you got too. Sorry the Cheerleaders interrupted you nighttime plans. They were coming in as our trip was coming to an end.
Haha, I was able to handle GOTG this one time, but I didn't ride it the rest of the trip  I declared it a "once per trip" ride!!

I love doing F&G with a partner or big group; that way, you can sample a lot of things by sharing and you don't fill up too much on one thing!! This worked out really well today!

I hope you got your tickets and have an absolute blast at DL!! :) I was following the thread, and overall, it seemed to go a lot smoother than last year!

Hi Cindi! I was following along with your trip on Facebook- it looked like an absolute blast!! How did you like the Wish???SOMEDAY we will try a Disney cruise!

AH! So jealous about the Poly! Haven't stayed there in so long; but it's sooo nostalgic.
She did! I was so excited!

I am so glad you liked it! Definitely one of my must gets in Epcot!

Disney at Golden Hour is AMAZING ::yes:: Also my favorite time of day; it feel like everything slows down around that time too and becomes more leisurely!

OMG breaking a limb before Disney is my nightmare. How did it effect your trip?? Props to you for going with the flow and not canceling! And luckily, we never saw any signs of a penny!! Almost 2 months later now, and it seemed to have came and went without our knowledge :rotfl:

We much prefer Mission:Breakout- mostly for the fun factor! I sometimes get nervous on ToT too but I think it's the "dark" theming adding to it. With Mission:Breakout you're so busy jamming out that you don't have time to be nervous!

Don't worry- I did end up trying another cake :thumbsup2 Looks like you got a visit or two to Gideon's on your trip!! What was your fave thing that you tried??

Seriously; Jake and I go so back-and-forth on wanting kids because of their shenanigans (both positive and negative)! They definitely keep us on our toes!

Day 3 (The One Where The Family Arrives, And Jake Finds Food Nirvana!)- Part 1

Good morning from Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort! Once again, I was an early bird and awake at 5:00 AM today.

Sadly, this was not due to pure Disney excitement… it was due to a stomachache.

As most of you know, I have a pretty sensitive stomach, and oftentimes certain foods will aggravate it (especially when I am eating more frequently and often eating super decadent foods on vacation). My blessing (curse?) is that when I have a stomachache, I immediately know the exact food that I ate that brought me the discomfort. And, in this case, it was the Mediterranean Flatbread from Flower and Garden Festival yesterday. :sad1:

Such a bummer too, because this was my #1 item of the day, and I was hoping to have this again on our next Epcot day!

I’m going to do this day in chronological order for all members of our party. While I was tossing and turning in our room at CSR, Haley/Ryan/Nana/the kids were getting ready to board a flight from Chicago to Orlando!

Can you tell someone is excited? :goodvibes

I looked at my phone for about 45 minutes and willed the pain to pass, and I was back asleep by 5:45. I was able to sleep until 7:50 AM, and although I wasn’t hungry by any means, I wasn’t feeling nauseous anymore!

Jake and I didn’t really have anywhere to be until 11:00 today, so we just lounged around in the room until 8:45. After getting all ready for the day, we decided to get out and explore Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort!

We started in the Tower and did an entire loop around the Cabanas, Ranchos, and Casitas.

If my stomach was 100% this morning, I definitely would have gotten an iced coffee from Barcelona Lounge!

Cabanas

Walking around this section made me think of some of my favorite TRs written by Nilla over here on the DIS. I haven’t seen him around here in a while! His family always stayed at CSR, mostly in the Cabanas buildings :) I binge-read all of his old TRs right before we left to prepare us for our stay here!

Ranchos

We saw a lot of decorated windows in this section with posters of all the cheerleaders! I can imagine that being soooo fun as a tweenager; just bopping from room to room with all of my friends!

Casitas

Overall, if Jake and I didn’t stay in the Tower, we both agreed that the Casitas area was our favorite. We really liked the “fancy” look to it, the water features, and its proximity to the pool/restaurants. The leisurely walk felt great; the weather was still somewhat cool, and it settled my stomach a lot!

Meanwhile, Haley/Ryan/Nana/the kids were in the air and en route to Orlando!

After our grand tour of CSR, Jake and I looped back to El Mercado. I filled up my resort mug with water and mixed in a packet of Liquid IV. This brought me back to 100%, and I was ready to do some browsing and brunch at Disney Springs! We got an adorable Toy Story bus, and left CSR at 9:45 AM.

Had to take a picture of this ad for Vanderpump Villa on the bus! Has anyone watched this show?? ( @amazingact21 I know you have! ) Jake and I tried watching The Valley (a Vanderpump Rules spinoff on Bravo) and we could NOT get into it!

We were at DS by 10:00! We didn’t really linger too long; we popped into Lilly Pulitzer and Tommy Bahama, then stopped in Disney Style so I could try on a crew neck that I had spotted at gift shops around the property.

But, I didn’t really like the fit of it, so it went back on the shelf.

At 10:25 AM, Nana had texted us to say that the crew had landed (20 minutes early)!! So, Jake and I decided to head to our Summer House On The Lake brunch ADR a half-hour early. We knew that it would probably still take them a bit to arrive on Disney property, since they still had to retrieve their millions of suitcases and get their rental car. But, we wanted to meet everyone at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort right when they checked in to be the welcoming committee!

Luckily, Summer House on the Lake had no issues with us being early, and seated us immediately!

I loved the feel of this restaurant. It’s very light and airy!

Leading up to the trip, Jake and I were torn on this ADR for quite some time. I am a huge fan of Summer House Santa Monica (the sister restaurant to this one) in Chicago and have been there many times. I was excited to try a “new” restaurant at WDW, but was kind of conflicted because it wasn’t a “new” restaurant to me. We also had a back-up breakfast booked for Kona Cafe at the Polynesian for this morning, but ultimately, we decided to keep our ADR at Summer House.

This turned out to be a FANTASTIC decision! You’ll see why in a moment, but I’ll give you a hint…

We were sat towards the back of the restaurant, and immediately, Jake said, “I feel underdressed."

It definitely had a boujee feel to it! We had a really sweet but VERY intense waitress!! She was adorable and so attentive but gave us the “crazy eyes” a bit. :hyper:

To drink, Jake decided on a mimosa, while I went with an unsweetened iced tea!

Cheers to our last brunch before the craziness begins!

After our drinks came, I ran to the cookie bar up front to get some treats for Jake and I and also stopped at the bathroom; it couldn’t have taken more than 15 minutes. Imagine my surprise when we had already gotten our entrees at the table! Jake had been waiting with baited breath, and immediately asked when I returned, “Can you take a picture of my food quickly so I can eat? I didn’t want to touch my phone, then touch my food with my hands." :rotfl:

I simultaneously “awwww’ed” and laughed. #1. WHAT a dedicated DISboards husband :lovestruc 2. Stop being such a germ freak, ya weirdo  Jake was elbows-deep in his food as soon as I took a picture!

For entrees, Jake ordered the Breakfast Tostadas,

And I went with my standard order at the Chicago location: The Shaved Brussels Sprouts Salad with steak!

Before mixing...

After mixing!

We also dug into our baked goods right away- no shame. :thumbsup2 Jake decided on “The Pinkie” Cookie and the Sea Salt Chocolate Chip Cookie (no pictures of that one, sorry about that!)

And after much deliberation, I decided on the Lemon Cookie and the Beach Blondie!

There were a couple moments of comfortable silence as we tucked into our brunch. Suddenly, I hear Jake proclaim,

“This is one of the best things I have ever eaten.”

Jake was in food heaven. He absolutely loved the Breakfast Tostadas. The pulled chicken was super moist and tender, the eggs were cooked perfectly, and the sauces packed so much flavor! And… THE PINKIE! Oh my WORD this cookie was incredible. So soft, sweet, with a perfect swirl of gooey strawberry icing on top. I had MAJOR food envy with this cookie, especially since I wasn’t a huge fan of my two cookies. The Lemon cookie was too tart for my liking, and the Beach Blondie was super one-note and kind of bland. It definitely needed some toffee or butterscotch chips mixed in. Usually, at the Chicago location, I get the Oatmeal Scotchie Cookie or Sea-Salt Chocolate Chip Cookie, and those are always great. So, the risk didn’t pay off for me today!

Luckily, my entree was as delicious as it always is :) After all of the heavy theme park food for the last couple days, a fresh salad tasted (and felt) heavenly to eat!

If you are on the fence about Summer House on the Lake- DEFINITELY give it a shot! It was one of our favorite meals on the trip! This place had more adult vibes and a variety of healthier/fresher options than other restaurants, so it was a nice change of pace. If you can’t snag an ADR here, definitely try out the Cookie Bar at least!

After we finished eating, we made a pit-stop at Everglazed. My tummy was finally settled enough for a caffeine fix, and I had been dying to try this drink! I ordered an Iced Ube Chai Latte.

This was yummy but EXTREMELY sweet. The ube flavor was strong but it also had a swirl of coconut flavor as well. I could only manage half of it, but it definitely gave me the little caffeine boost that I was looking for!

We called my mom on her way out, and she said that she was in an Uber on the way to AoA (she couldn't fit in Haley and Ryan's rental van with all of their luggage). So, Jake and I hoofed it towards the exit.

We were on a bus to Art of Animation by 12:00!

I thought this was a very “artsy” picture of the Characters in Flight balloon. :cutie: I still have never done this!

Coming up next- The family finally arrives!

Following along!! Thanks so much for such a great TR! And SO GLAD you got September on GOTG!! It is the absolute best track for that coaster. Also! You can always email photopass to ask for your ride photo. The more details the better, like clothes you were wearing or twenty minute time window, but it could take a while for them to get back to you. I am always stopping at photopass throughout my trip to find lost photos.

Super excited to see what antics come up with the kids—i’m trying to figure out what to expect at the parks as my baby gets older lol

I almost didn't go to the doctors! I fell I think on Monday, and on Tuesday it was still bothering me, so my mom (who is a nurse) was like you may want to go to urgent care for an xray. Sure enough it was broken. I then had to beg the ortho for an appt since I was headed to Disney the next day. All in all, it didn't affect much. I got a waterproof cast so I could swim, and we got a wheelchair tag for the stroller since holding Jackson in line (who was 1 and non mobile) was not an option!

Oh no! I am glad it passed and you were able to get back to sleep!

Loving your trip report! As a child of the 70s, I am desperate to know where you purchased the smiley face packing cubes! I looked on Amazon but didn't see them.

Full disclosure: in 2nd grade I didn't tell my mother when Picture Day was so that I could wear my smiley face shirt for my school pics. :) I got in so much trouble about that!

Thank YOU so much for reading along :) Ahhhh- good call on contacting Photopass! I'll try to email them and see if they can find the ride photos! It definitely was a bummer to not get that ride photo; we were anticipating our faces to be absolutely crazy and hilarious

It was definitely hairy at times, but the kids made everything SO fun and fresh :)

I suppose it's *better* (haha) that it was your arm and not your leg; but kudos to you for pushing through and not letting it get you down!!
What a fun trip so far!
Thanks for reading along! It was an absolute blast; I'm having so much fun re-living it through this TR :)

Awwwwww- I love that story :) I was not a child of the 70's, but I also love smilies- as you can see, my TR is full of them :goodvibes I bought the packing cubes from Marshall's! I hope you find them!!

Hi Cindi! I was following along with your trip on Facebook- it looked like an absolute blast!! How did you like the Wish???SOMEDAY we will try a Disney cruise!

AH! So jealous about the Poly! Haven't stayed there in so long; but it's sooo nostalgic.
We loved our time on the WISH! Our kids couldn't get enough and were sad to get off the boat- and go to Disney World. LOL. It was my husband's and I 5th cruise, and the kids 2nd/3rd, but it was the first one they remembered.
I've never stayed at the Poly- so super excited.

Your leisurely morning sounds perfect. I need to try Summer House. Next time!

Day 3 (The One Where The Family Arrives, And Jake Finds Food Nirvana!)- Part 2

Hello everyone! Where I last left you, Jake and I were leaving Disney Springs and on a bus to AoA. Time to finally meet the fam!

Timing was on our side, and we pulled into the gates at 12:15! As we were pulling into the bus stop, I saw my mom, Haley, and Ryan unloading suitcases from the rental van! Perfect timing- GO GO GO!

We immediately ran up to greet them, and huge hugs were had all around. :goodvibes

The kids were excited to see us, and I think shell-shocked a little bit! We made our way to the lobby to check things out!

Immediately, once Ollie saw all of the Cars decorations, he yelled, “WHOAH, RACECARS!!” :lovestruc My mom immediately started crying out of happiness. :rotfl:It was going to be a LOOONG week. ::yes::

This was a very impressive lobby!! One thing we really loved about AoA was how family-oriented it seemed. Within 5 minutes of arriving, we chatted with 2 different families, and another family approached us to offer some leftover snacks (family-sized bags of chips, granola bars, individual-sized packs of pretzels, and Pop-Tarts)!! We were floored by how friendly everyone was, and it made us feel right at home.

I plopped down with the kids to watch some TV. Although it was only 12:30, Haley and Ryan got a text stating that their room was ready early! So, we headed over to Radiator Springs to check out the room and get settled.

Once the Cars characters came into view, we immediately started getting Ollie’s attention, shouting, “Look, there’s Mater!” However, Ollie seemed way more into the pictures of cars in the lobby! He still liked the life-size cars, but we think he really loved how the giant pictures were like a life-sized book, since they read so many books at home.

Their room was in the Mater section! I’m not sure of their room number off the top of my head, but they definitely had a first floor room.

Just because I’m not actually staying there, doesn’t mean I can’t get pictures to post on the TR. ;)

Overall, I think the family loved the theming here. They were really glad they stayed here one night, because the twins were so into all of the characters. The lobby, food court, gift shops, and outdoor areas were absolutely top tier.

However, the room needed some work. My mom commented on how the room was a lot smaller than she imagined it would be, and that it was TIGHT for them. They felt that the room was way too expensive for what they got (I want to say that they paid about $600 for their one night stay), and that it felt cheap and small.

We took some time to check out the room, unwind, and help everyone get unpacked! Evie wasted no time digging into the free snacks. :thumbsup2

We turned on Tarzan for the kids (and adults!)

This part of the day was… chaotic. Honestly, probably the most chaotic moment of the trip! This was the moment that I realized just how smart it was to come down to Disney a couple days early with Jake. We were all moving in different directions, simultaneously trying to unpack, get the kids changed/sunscreened… and when all was said and done, we were in the room for almost 2 hours. This would have made me absolutely MENTAL if this was our true first day on vacation!! But, coming down early allowed us to be relaxed and present with the fam. :goodvibes

At one point, all of us looked at each other and asked, “Where’s Oliver?” We eventually found him here…

You guys. He had shut himself in one of the bathrooms just to look at the Cars shower curtain. :rotfl: He was in there for about 25 minutes, perfectly content!! Typical kid… he has the entire Walt Disney World property to explore… and his favorite thing was a shower curtain.

This guy had been free-birding it while in the room!

Haley asked me to change his diaper and change him into his adorable rash guard, but mentioned that the rash guard might be a little tight. Well, about 5 minutes after changing him into it, Ethan started absolutely SCREAMING :( We were immediately alarmed, because he is the chillest and smiliest little guy and NEVER cries like this.

I was convinced that it was the rash guard, Nana was convinced that I had accidentally scratched him with my ring (I absolutely did not :rolleyes2 ). Haley fed him, but he was still upset… and what do you know? As soon as we took off the rash guard, he was happy as a clam. Moral of the story- always listen to Auntie Molly. ::yes:: We changed Ethan into a looser rash guard, and we were FINALLY ready for some pool time!

We made it to the pool right around 2:20 PM. Right away, a nice lady and her family noticed Ethan, and immediately offered up part of her shaded table to share with us. Once again, the guests at AoA were SO NICE. Mom, Haley, and I had an absolutely UNHINGED interaction (involving pool tables/chairs) with a crazy witch at Stormalong Bay at the BC last year, so this was a welcome change.

This guy was made for the shade!

Immediately, the kids jumped into the splash pad to play!

This splash pad was awesome for the kids. When researching resorts for our MNSSHP trip this year, I was super surprised to find out that not every Disney resort has a fun kid’s area like this (we just got lucky that AoA, CBR, and POFQ all had this set-up). We are sooooo excited to check out the splash pad at Kidani Village over at AKL in September!

Pool selfie with the sis!

It was sunny and HOT today- absolutely perfect for the pool! Once everyone got settled in, Jake and Ryan decided to head to the Drop-Off Pool Bar for some libations! Jake asked what I wanted, and I responded, “Just get me something that sounds good. Don’t you know what I like?” He immediately responded, “That’s a trick question.”

Turns out, Jake DOES in fact know what I like ;) He got me a “Big Blue Ocean,” which was vodka, Bacardi, lemonade, and Blue Curacao- with a pretty glow cube!

Jake decided on a Captain’s Mai Tai for himself. Readers of my Aulani TR will not be the least bit surprised by this ;)

We enjoyed our drinks as we played with the kids in the Splash Pad, then decided to get the kids some lifejackets and venture to the Big Blue Pool!

It was so hot, so I dunked myself underwater a good amount. I tried to listen for the music, but I didn’t hear any! Jake, Nana, and Ryan took on the roles of swimming/playing with the kids, and Haley and I took turns keeping an eye on peacefully sleeping Ethan at the pool chairs.

As things were winding down, Jake was craving another drink, so I offered to go up to the bar and get him one. Ryan decided to join me, and we headed up to the Drop-Off together. I ordered Jake a Pina Colava, then headed back to the pool chairs. When Ryan came back about 10 minutes later, he stated that after I left the area, the bartender at the pool bar came up to him and said- “I’m so sorry that girl over there cut in front of you, how rude.” Ryan said that he immediately responded, “OMG, don’t worry, that’s my sister in law” and they were able to laugh it off.

Of course, my sensitive self secretly over-analyzed this interaction and felt paralyzing guilt for coming across as rude for, like, hours after this. :rotfl: Enneagram 9 problems. ::yes:: Can anyone else relate??

At 4:15 PM, we could definitely tell that the kids were slowing down. Nobody except Jake and I had had a real meal that day besides airport/plane snacks, and they were STARVING! So, we set off in search of some grub!

I just love how you write Molly, I can almost feel the fun energy of your family as you describe the day to day of it all.

Mom, Haley, and I had an absolutely UNHINGED interaction (involving pool tables/chairs) with a crazy witch at Stormalong Bay at the BC last year, so this was a welcome change.
This doesn't surprised me at all! YC/BC are our favorite resorts, but my goodness, something about Stormalong Bay turns people into psychos! I've seen so many ridiculously rude interactions at that pool.

Your pool day sounds so amazing! Do they actually play music under the water there? I thought I heard about that somewhere, didn't know where it was though!

They quit playing music under the water because to many kids were needing to be rescued by the lifeguards :sad2:
I read that somewhere so no more underwater music 🎵
What a fun afternoon and the kids are so stinkin cute!😊

What a fun pool day- and a different atmosphere having to be in charge of 3 kiddos- always an adventure!
I'm so sad that they stopped playing the music. :( We've stayed there twice and loved it both times, but haven't splurged on a suite since we only had 2 kids- and on that trip, my mom and sister stayed with us.

I would have ruminated the same with you at the bartender's comment. Yikes!
Hope you found some yummy dinner!

As most of you know, I have a pretty sensitive stomach, and oftentimes certain foods will aggravate it (especially when I am eating more frequently and often eating super decadent foods on vacation).

Ugh! I have this problem myself. This makes me a little nervous to try 'different' types of food and snacks on vacation. Glad you felt better fairly quickly.

Walking around this section made me think of some of my favorite TRs written by Nilla over here on the DIS. I haven’t seen him around here in a while! His family always stayed at CSR, mostly in the Cabanas buildings
I loved Nilla's trip reports!

You make CSR look really tempting. Maybe my next family trip because my sons both want a moderate.

I have a lot to catch up on!!

“My only patient canceled their appointment today. Looks like I’ll be done early!”
Great luck!!
Milwaukee has a library in their airport, where you can check out and return books for your trip! They had an impressive variety.
This makes Milwaukee the coolest airport I've heard of - it looks like a big library!
I love this area of the Milwaukee airport . This is where people put their shoes back on and get their lives back in order after the stress of security ::yes::. The TSA agents are always so nice in Milwaukee; they are saints compared to the grumps at O’Hare and MCO!
You're making me want to fly out of Milwaukee instead of Chicago from now on.
Ugh, everyone on this flight was so RUDE! People were watching movies on full volume with no headphones (despite multiple announcements from the staff telling them to quit it), constantly getting up during the “seatbelt fastened” portion, screaming across the aisles to one another… it was rough ::yes::.
Oh no! We had the issue of someone trying to watch a movie with no headphones on our last flight too, sitting right in front of us. After a few minutes, my daughter loudly said, "I thought you can only watch movies with headphones on?" since that is what we told our kids. I took advantage of that and loudly replied, "Yes, that's what you're supposed to do! So everyone else can listen to their own things!" The person got the hint and put headphones in shortly after.
We were immediately hit with the classic “Disney lobby” smell as we arrived, as well as this beautiful view!
I bet it hit even better after all the stinky smells earlier in your day!
Oh my goodness, I need to try the PB Cold Brew Cookie!!
It would fit right in at Harry Potter World at Universal!
I always think that too!
It was still on the menu, so I was excited to order this again.

Imagine my sadness when the waitress exclaimed, “Oh, we changed the menu a couple weeks ago and we don’t have that anymore!”
Oh no! If they updated their menu they should have given you the updated version. What a bummer!
And the Peanut Butter Cold Brew cookie had a great amount of salt and was covered in Reese’s Pieces- my favorite candy!!
The PB Cold Brew cookies just got even better, Reese's Pieces are one of my favorite candies too. I now will have to plan our next trip around when that pops up on the menu!

Hi, Molly!!!! I was three updates behind again somehow!?!! Well, I know how. I haven't opened my laptop AT ALL since starting summer break LOL

First, I am SO excited for you getting September on your GoTG ride!!!! I had tears in my eyes reading that part, imagining you two screaming your heads off!! :) So sweet.

Family arrival does sound a little insane!! I'm glad you got to have some time just you and Jake to be in chill mode before all that family fun started!

Happy 4th of July!!!!!
