"Let's See What We Can See!"- Surviving WDW With Three Under 3! - And now... A CRUISE?! Updated 4/19!

EEEEEEK! I am so excited for you! This sounds like a perfect combination trip!!

We loved our dinner at Mythos! I still think about the Spanakopita Dip we got, it was so good! I think I got the grilled cheese because someone next to me had it, and it looked good on our rainy day. My family got some of the other signature dishes, and they also loved them.

We also did CowFish once, and it was good. Nothing that I remember, but a neat concept, for sure!

Velocicoaster is next-level. I cannot wait to hear how y'all like it. It scares the you-know-what out of me, but it is my favorite THRILL coaster of all time. I just love how smooth it is. FYI, Jason puked on Forbidden Journey, so skip that one! Thankfully, he had a poncho bag handy! If you are a HP fan, you can just walk the amazing queue in the castle, then leave at the exit before the ride starts.

And the Poly Tower!? SO jealous! Your WDW days sound perfect; I think you will be glad to have those resort days.

I would be more jealous if I wasn't going on my cruise next week, but this sounds like a great trip!

So excited for you!
As you know, we are currently in Orlando and did 2 nights/3 days at Universal. We did have the Express pass with our hotel and loved it! We ate at Mythos, which is one of my favorites, and even the kids enjoyed it.
We are eating at 1900 Park Fare tonight!

Yay so exciting! I just took a tour of the new Poly the other day! I said to my mom "It is a good thing we owe the IRS money this year, or I would have just dropped 30K ok 200 points" :rotfl2:. We don't owe the IRS nearly that much, but I hate owing money to the feds so need to get them paid off. I don't look good in orange jumpsuits lol. Looking forward to your review of the new tower! The pool seemed a bit tiny, but it was really not too crowded compared to the Lava pool. The Voyager cocktail should be on your list of goodies to try!

I don't know how I missed the update here, but I did know about this from FB, LOL! :)

We are planning on taking an Uber to Cabana Bay Beach Resort and hitting the hay right away!
Yay, yay, yay! You will LOVE Cabana Bay! We have stayed there four times now, and it is solidly Jimmy's favorite. I love the theme and you even get little Zest and V05 toiletries in the room. So fun!

I don’t think we’ll do Express Pass… I’m hoping that we’ll be able to utilize Early Entry for both days and be able to ride our favorites
We've always had great luck getting on rides by being there early and hitting the ground running! In fact, we were there the week Velocicoaster opened, and even though it wasn't supposed to be, it was open every day for early entry and we were able to hit it first.

And Jake and I are SO pumped to ride Velocicoaster for the first time- that will be a highlight for sure!!
You are going to LOVE IT!!!! It's the most incredible rollercoaster I have ever been on. Literally breathtaking!

I am planning MK on Sunday and Epcot on Monday! We will have to meet up and say Hi 👋 I haven’t seen you for quite sometime! Was it January 2020 before the world shut down?
I will be solo. I am just taking a 4 night trip over Memorial Day weekend all for myself!
Yay!!!! I’m so excited about this!!!! :) You are right- it has been over 5 years, crazy!! I will text you when it gets closer to the trip and we will DEFINITELY make plans!!
So exciting!!! That sounds like an amazing trip!
Thank you!! It's coming up so quick!!
Thank you so much for sharing your trip with us!! All the best to with house hunting!! So exciting!!

WOW!! Just saw tonight’s update about your upcoming May trip! I hope you have the very best tone!! Sounds amazing!!!
Thank you so much :) It's coming up so quick; we're sooooo excited!!
I feel like you just need to have a trip planned somewhere somehow to keep us Disney crazy people sane. Yeah to a trip. Universal will probably be on our agenda for next year over spring break.
Hahaha we both know all this too well!! Life of a Disney Adult ::yes::
Yay for a May trip!! I will also be in Disney over Memorial weekend with my daughter. We're so excited!!
Yay!!!!!! If you see us, say hi!! So much fun :goodvibes
Another trip is wonderful! When I saw your dates on the group, I thought you were going down for Epic. But I 100% agree with you on how brutal the 3 day ticket prices were. We had to wait and wait for them to release the single day tickets, because we could not justify that package.

Velocicoaster!!! It's insane and has to be one of the most thrilling coasters out there. I'm terrified of it, yet I still go on it every time I'm at UO. :rotfl:

The sweet potato fries at Cowfish are really good!

I've heard nothing but great things about the Cake Bake Shop. I'm sure you will have a lovely lunch there. Plus, it gets you out of the midday sun for a bit. Always a plus!
Hiii Alicia good to see you here!! :) So glad you're able to see Epic soon!! When are you going??
This is what I am missing. Jeff is trying to say when we go next we will only go for like 2 days and then the beach. We are still a couple of years away so i am just ignoring him right now. I have been missing so much right now. We have had a really long stressful few months and I could use some Disney but I don't think it will happen as we are looking to build a new home this summer or fall and need to save money.
Ugh... being an adult stinks!!!!! I hope you get back to your happy place sooner than anticipated :lovestruc
Yay another trip! So excited for you guys! I will just miss you, I leave Disney on the 17th. This trip will be so nice and relaxing for you guys compared to the big family trips! Lol
Awwww, sad we'll miss you but so excited for you and your trip!! Coming up so soon! And YES we are so looking forward to just having some chill theme park time ::yes::
Your new trip sounds great!

We may actually cross paths.

We're doing Disney the first part of our trip May 18-May 21.

We're at a Wyndam timeshare for May 21-May26th. We have tickets for Epic opening day and the 2 days park to park tickets for Uni & IOA. We plan on hitting both parks on Friday the 23rd and Sunday the 25th.

We don't have plans for May 24th yet. I was hoping for more Disney time but we haven't firmed that up.

@disneyAndi14 where are you on May 24th?
Ahhhh Vanessa that's awesome our trips overlap!!! I really hope we can meet up with Caroline and do drinks or a fun dinner!! :)
Did he really think you might not agree to that?!?! 😂😂
Sounds like you’ve got a great trip planned.
After our trip, Gary said he wants to try Universal next time. (In addition to WDW) 😉
Hahaha love it!!! Sounds like we've got our hubbies trained right ;)

I'm sooooo intrigued about Mythos! We love Mediterranean food and all of the options look so fresh and light for theme park food!

Oh yes- I learned my lesson back in 2013 after attempting Forbidden Journey and almost barfing up my Butterbeer :rolleyes2 that stupid ride was what made me realize I had motion sickness to begin with!!!!

Still pinching myself that we are staying at the Poly Tower. I'm BEYOND excited for that!!
So excited for you!

Loved seeing your pics on Facebook Cindi!!!! Sounds like you guys had a great trip and so glad you get to go back to WDW soon for your girl's trip :goodvibes

Hahahahaha I love this :rotfl2: I'm glad that we can use the pools both at the OG Poly and Tower, I know we'll be bopping back and forth a lot between our resort days. Putting the Voyager on my list!!! Also very intrigued about the Pandan Gin Mule at the Wailulu Bar and Grille!
I don't know how I missed the update here, but I did know about this from FB, LOL! :)

We have been watching SO many POVs of Cabana Bay and it looks SO CUTE. It'll be so convenient to use for early entry, and the theming is right up our alley. The pool looks so nice and I love the vintage vibes!! I think it'll be perfect of our first onsite USO stay :)

And now… A CRUISE??

Hi DISfriends. I’m so excited to tell you a little secret…

JAKE AND I ARE GOING ON A DISNEY CRUISE IN 12 DAYS.

AND WE BOOKED IT YESTERDAY.

AND IT WAS JAKE’S IDEA.

AiB.gif

Unfortunately, Jake’s parents let us know last week that they had to postpone our Arizona trip to the fall instead of May. We both still had the time off, and Jake’s PTO is a “use it or lose it” system, so we started brainstorming other places we could go for a quick getaway. Jake loves to research travel destinations, so on Thursday evening, I told him, “I’m going to the gym, how about you brainstorm while I’m gone.”

When I returned one hour later, Jake said casually, “So, there’s a 3-night Disney Cruise that looks fun. You in?”

shes-the-man-amanda-bynes.gif

Yes, my friends. I have brainwashed my husband so much that it was HIS IDEA to do a Disney vacation.

It took some maneuvering (we are leaving one week earlier than our Arizona trip was scheduled), but we were able to cancel and rebook flights to Orlando instead of Phoenix, since we are flying Southwest.

We are sailing on the Disney Fantasy from May 1-4. We are docking out of Port Canaveral and have one day at sea, then one day at Castaway Cay!!!!!!

We have a veranda room on Deck 9 that is *technically* in the “aft” category but it’s pretty much the farthest central room in the category. We didn’t have a ton of options booking so late, but I’m just glad that we aren’t in the far aft or forward!

I AM SO EXCITED. ABSOLUTELY GIDDY. I feel like we have always talked about doing a cruise, but this was the perfect opportunity to pull the trigger. It’s short and sweet, with only one port that doesn’t require any excursions. I have been wanting to visit Castaway Cay for FOREVER and we love that all of the food is free and everything on the island is Disey-owned. We also get a sea day to explore the gorgeous ship!

I’m also so excited to check out all of the dinner locations on this ship: Royal Court, Enchanted Garden, and Animator’s Palate!

Not to mention Cabanas breakfast buffet and all of the fun bars!

We will not be doing any specialty dining at Palo or Remy. We will also not be purchasing a drink package, not doing spa services or Rainforest Room…this is really going to be just “getting our feet wet” into the cruising life! We figure that if we enjoy this, we can think about looking at longer cruises for somewhere like Alaska or the Mediterranean.

As you all know, I’m a little nervous about potential seasickness, especially after that bumpy ferry ride to Catalina Island back in October. I have been reading everyone’s suggestions on the DIS and Reddit ( @StarWarsMomofGirls! your TR in particular has been so helpful)! I’m going to start taking Bonine round-the-clock 48 hours before the cruise starts, and continuing for a few more days after the cruise ends to prevent land sickness. I’m also going to wear sea bands and bring ginger lozenges! My emetophobia makes me anxious about having motion sickness, but my brain is also very adaptable to the power of suggestion, so I’m hoping that being proactive about motion sickness will help me mentally as well. Despite having some anxiety, I know that sometimes you need to step out of your comfort zone, and I feel most comfortable doing that on a Disney-owned ship.

All in all, everything was super user-friendly to book, despite this being our first cruise EVER.

We have a flight out of Milwaukee at 5:30 PM on Wednesday evening (April 30th). We found a cheap room for that first night at All Star Music Resort, then we’ll take the shuttle transportation over to Port Canaveral in the morning! I’m hoping we can walk the resort and grab some Mickey Waffles before heading over to Port!

The first day will just be all about exploring, getting our bearings, and hanging by the pool! We also have the muster drill as well as the Sail Away Party!

We were scheduled for the later dining slot (8:15 PM) every night since we booked things so late in the game, but it actually works out well because we eat dinner late every night at home anyway.

The next day is our sea day, so we’ll probably grab breakfast at Cabanas and just explore the ship/get some pool time!

We’re not big character people so that’s one thing we don’t have to worry about! Maybe we’ll partake in some trivia on this day too!

One thing that I am super excited for are the shows. I am a former theatre kid and LOVE this kind of stuff! We are hoping to at least catch “Believe” on the night that it’s playing- I’ve heard great things about this show!

I think this night is Pirate Night! We don’t have any costumes planned or anything but are excited to partake in the festivities. :)

Then, on Saturday, we dock at Castaway Cay!!

We don’t have any excursions planned and are just planning to enjoy the beach and Serenity Bay. Maybe also rent bikes depending on weather??

Then on Sunday, we disembark the ship. We are planning to handle our own luggage so we can be among the first to head out.

Our flight home isn’t until 4:30 PM, so we’re going to Uber to Disney Springs for some fun before heading back to Milwaukee!

We’ll probably just grab a quick lunch, do some shopping, and of course buy our favorite treats at Gideon’s and Summer House for the flight home!

Whew!! It will be such a whirlwind, but such a fun little getaway that will definitely hold us over until our longer trip over Memorial Day Weekend. :goodvibes

DCL vets- anything I’m missing?? Any suggestions?? I am a fish out of water when it comes to cruising, but so pumped to experience something new with my guy. ♥️

I am so excited for you! I've been on six cruises, 3 of them without kids- 5 of them Disney! I also take Bonine every night. That's all I need! I start the day before flying, and am good to go! I love your laid-back attitude. Just take it all in, keep the Navigator app pulled up, and do the things you feel like! Try to go to all the nighttime shows- they are SO good! And just enjoy your time together! Oh- I know you said no drink package (assuming maybe you mean the ones tied to dinner) BUT if you or J drink beer, consider the beer mug! It's a good deal- and you get to keep your final mug! I also love asking about drink specials and drink of the day- they are a bit cheaper!!

We are sailing on the Disney Fantasy from May 1-4.
Yay!!! We were on this boat with the kids in 2018 and loved it.
We figure that if we enjoy this, we can think about looking at longer cruises for somewhere like Alaska or the Mediterranean.
This was our plan with our cruise this past October. If I did well we were going to do an Alaskan one next. I did not do well and cruises are now out of the pictures. Word of advice, do not try the patch. I am still dealing with vision issues from it.

You are doing the right things. I first got seasick when we were on our Disney cruise in 2018. I was fine on the 2 we did before having kids (I blame my seasickness on the kids). All the cast members were great and gave me suggestions. Sour apples help as well as well as drinking ginger ale. I lived on ginger ale that week.

Also, my dad (he was in the Navy) said to look at the horizon. For whatever reason this tricks your brain and stops the seasickness for that time. When we did the boat excursion when you go below deck to watch the fish, the seasickness was really bad. I lasted all of 2 seconds before running to be up top. I spent the whole time up top and didn't even get to see one fish but I saw how they got the fish to the boat. If I looked a the horizon I was fine. If I looked at the land close by I felt sick.
The first day will just be all about exploring, getting our bearings, and hanging by the pool!
I wouldn't count on hanging at the main pool. They are always very crowded. We opted to go to the Adult Only area. There is like a pool you can sit in (not very deep at all but enough to cool off in) and has like a mushroom fountain. It was never packed with people.
Then on Sunday, we disembark the ship. We are planning to handle our own luggage so we can be among the first to head out.
The first cruise we went on we didn't keep our luggage and regretted it. It was horrible. After that we always keep our bags and leave first. It is so much easier. We usually don't eat breakfast on the ship that morning either. We usually drive to the ports so we get out as soon as possible and stop somewhere once away from the traffic.

DCL vets- anything I’m missing?? Any suggestions?? I am a fish out of water when it comes to cruising, but so pumped to experience something new with my guy. ♥️
One of my favorite things to do on this cruise was to sit on the pool deck at night after everything settled for the day and watch the movie they had playing on the big screen. Sometimes the kids hung out with me but other times it was just me. It was just a peaceful way to end the night. I am surprised I didn't just fall asleep for the night in one of the chairs.

JAKE AND I ARE GOING ON A DISNEY CRUISE IN 12 DAYS.
Yay!!!! I am so jealous, only because I want to be away right now lol.
We are docking out of Port Canaveral and have one day at sea, then one day at Castaway Cay!!!!!!
This is perfect! So much nicer to have the sea day than a Nassau day. I have been to Nassau more times than I care to count. I don't even get off the boat anymore. Serenity Bay is heaven. I spent an entire day there in a chair with my book. They have chairs you can take a put in the shallow water. It was so nice.
It’s short and sweet, with only one port that doesn’t require any excursions.
This is the perfect way to break into cruising. We did the same thing with my husband before we booked our Hawaii cruise for our honeymoon. Just enjoy the ship and the amenities. The trivia is super fun and the shows are can't miss!
I’m a little nervous about potential seasickness
I have heard green apples are also very good for motin sickness.

I am so excited for you! I have already given you some of my tips, but I did forget one thing - some people have success with alcohol wipes and nausea. So I carry a few of those in individually wrapped squares just in case it hits me.

I second the late-night movie watching! Even if you don't stay for the whole thing, being up there at night is just so relaxing.

We love second dining. The servers have more time, and we are late eaters. Plus, fewer small kids!

They change up soft serve flavors, so don't skip out on those! I am not sure if they will serve them, but ask about the Mickey Churro waffles on your Castaway Day. They are not on the buffet other days and not on every ship, but if you can get them, you will not regret the wait!

Also, if they do the Jack-Jack's Diaper Dash, go see it! We LOVE watching the babies race!

I hope you love it. With DCL, there are so many things to do that it can feel overwhelming. Just know that it will probably be your first of many!

DCL is so fun! definitely hang out in the adults only areas. The shows are fantastic. We loved having late dinner. Enjoy!

Oh wow!!! SOOOOOOOOO excited to hear about your cruise! I think you already have things planned out so well! We took our first cruise 11 years ago and have been on 5 others since. (We now sail RCL as we're priced out of Disney but, would run back to DCL if we could!! It truly is the BEST!)

It took some maneuvering (we are leaving one week earlier than our Arizona trip was scheduled), but we were able to cancel and rebook flights to Orlando instead of Phoenix, since we are flying Southwest.
Southwest currently makes doing these switches so easy. Hoping the pendulum swings back after the changes they've announced and they find something in the middle. After 20 years of dedicated SW travel we may need to start looking elsewhere. :(

We are sailing on the Disney Fantasy from May 1-4. We are docking out of Port Canaveral and have one day at sea, then one day at Castaway Cay!!!!!!

A 3 night sailing is the perfect way to give sailing a try and you have a great itinerary! We love the Fantasy!!!

For your first cruise, I think it's great not to try to do too much in the way of specialty items! You'll have more than enough to do with the included options!
All in all, everything was super user-friendly to book, despite this being our first cruise EVER.
Disney does it well!!
We have a flight out of Milwaukee at 5:30 PM on Wednesday evening (April 30th). I’m hoping we can walk the resort and grab some Mickey Waffles before heading over to Port!
We did this the last time we sailed Disney and it was awesome! Woke up bright and early - excited much??? - had our luggage picked up, ate in the restaurant and then wandered around the 3 All Star resorts as it was our first time there. We loved it! We met for the cruise around 9:30 I believe and were whisked away to the port!

The first day will just be all about exploring, getting our bearings, and hanging by the pool! We also have the muster drill as well as the Sail Away Party!
SO MUCH FUN!!!!

And, if you want, there's a cool opportunity to stand on deck 11, starboard as the ship leaves Port Canaveral and wave at family and friends at home as you sail away!! Port Canaveral webcam is a service offered by Fish Lips restaurant and if you're waving they'll zoom right in on you!

This was my daughter and I in 2023. :)

We were scheduled for the later dining slot (8:15 PM) every night since we booked things so late in the game, but it actually works out well because we eat dinner late every night at home anyway.
Once we tried late dining we never turned back! It allows us a more leisurely afternoon, we grab and snack while getting ready or, enjoy a show. We love late dining!

Maybe we’ll partake in some trivia on this day too!
So much to do! Trivia is such fun!

One thing that I am super excited for are the shows. I am a former theatre kid and LOVE this kind of stuff! We are hoping to at least catch “Believe” on the night that it’s playing- I’ve heard great things about this show!
It's a great one!

I think this night is Pirate Night! We don’t have any costumes planned or anything but are excited to partake in the festivities. :)

We did simple white t-shirts with VVVVVVV cut along the bottom edge, tied with a red sash and black pants. Add that to the Pirate bandana you'll be given and it's a simple Pirate costume if you're looking for something to quickly throw together.
Then, on Saturday, we dock at Castaway Cay!!
⛱️ 👙🌞🕶️💛

Honestly if I had months and months to plan I think I'd book pretty much what you have planned! Well done!!

Excited to hear all about this adventure - if you care to share it with us.

Have the very best time!!!!!!!!!!!

Awesome! Have a great cruise. So fun to enjoy a Disney ship for a few nights.

And love the beach. We have rented bikes, and also taken the shuttle to the adult part at Castaway. We prefer the adult part, as much more quiet.

I take motion sickness drugs, and okay with cruising. I find the best place is the highest deck, in the middle of the ship if I am feeling queasy. Luckily, the rest of my family does not get seasickness.

I had been looking at a short Disney cruise since last month, and the other day, got a great rate for a balcony on the Wish in June. Last time I was on that ship, when my kids were little, and was a DH and I one. This time, it’s my adult daughter and me. We are excited. Our last cruise, a week one, was cancelled due to that virus, and we haven’t been back to cruising in years now. Last one we did take, was a Carnival one, week long from Tampa. Looking forward to be back at PC.

We are sailing on the Disney Fantasy from May 1-4. We are docking out of Port Canaveral and have one day at sea, then one day at Castaway Cay!!!!!!
YAY!! This is the perfect itinerary to get your feet wet with cruising. I hope you love it!! I will second most of the suggestions people have already given, and also add that if you DO end up loving it--book a placeholder before you get off the ship! It's $250, then you have two years to book and sail on a future cruise, where you will also receive a 10% discount. If you end up not being able to use it, you get your money back, so there's no obligation and no $ loss, which is also great.

I'm at 29 days til Mom and I head to WDW for a couple days then sail on the Wish over Memorial Day weekend. Your plans to just relax and enjoy everything DCL has to offer is exactly what we're doing this time around, too. No excursions, just one martini tasting, and it will be just the best!!

I can't wait to hear all about it when you get back!

some people have success with alcohol wipes and nausea. So I carry a few of those in individually wrapped squares just in case it hits me.
Yes! When I had surgery last year and felt sick when waking up they were very quick to put an alcohol swab in my oxygen mask. It stopped the feel of being sick really quickly. Like almost instantly. I asked the doctor at my follow up about this and she said they don't know why it works but they use it for women that are in labor too.

Congrats on your cruise! I'm sure you'll have a wonderful time. I feel like last minute, spur of the moment trips end up being some of the most memorable. :goodvibes

Ahhhh Vanessa that's awesome our trips overlap!!! I really hope we can meet up with Caroline and do drinks or a fun dinner!! :)
I hope it works out for us all to meet up. My schedule is till open for Saturday the 24th.

How exciting that your just days away from a Disney Cruise!

I think a 3 night cruise would be great for getting your feet wet. I hope I'm brave enough to try it someday. Motion sickness is my enemy. It sounds like you're well prepared. I wanted to second the alcohol wipes. It suppose to trick your brain away from the sickness. I'm planning to bring them on our trip in May. I'm worried about several rides in Epic.
