"Let's See What We Can See!"- Surviving WDW With Three Under 3! - And now... A CRUISE?! Updated 4/19!

I got behind reading, but caught up this morning before all my Kindergarten darlings arrive for the day!! Sounds like you enjoyed a nice leisurely last couple days on your trip. Fireworks to end the day are the cherry on top....though getting up at 3 a.m. for your flight sounds totally awful.

Buying a house this year sounds very exciting!!! I wish you a drama free process and hope you find a home you LOVE!

This happened to us about 15 years ago. We had been to DLR quite a bit and our last trip was just a smidge too long.
Fast forward to last year and a mother-daughter SoCal trip that was like re-discovering DLR for me.
It justified all the park ride and experience changes that I used to get peeved about.
Give it an extra little bit of time before you return and you will see it all through new eyes.
Yes!!! I definitely think that taking a break from traveling will be good in the long run. We're still doing a couple long-weekend trips this year, but it'll be great to save some money. Then, when we do take a long trip, it will feel that much sweeter :)
Thank you for the comprehensive DLR updates! We have never been there, and it's fun to dream and get recommendations. Someday!
Of course!! We love DLR and I really hope you can go sometime soon. It's so cool to be at a place that feels so new and novel, but somehow still familiar :)
Thank you for sharing your California trip with us! Brought back so many great memories of the trip my DD and I shared together there in 2022. We want to return!

All the best in your house purchase adventure. So exciting!!!
Thank you so much!! We still have our lease until November, but we are counting down the days and slowly starting to look more and more :)

Thank you so much!!! We're just starting to look and it's overwhelming... but so exciting at the same time! We both have so many opinions and are very picky, but somehow, both picky in the exact same ways and have the same taste in decor

Day 10- Part 1 (The One Where Auntie Molly Is a Sucker, We Get Snubbed by Minnie Mouse, and Evie Learn a Lesson In Bladder Control!)

Hi everyone! Switching back to our May 2024 trip for the rest of this thread. :)

Good morning from CBR! It was our last full day at Disney World.

Although I was a little sad, it had been a looooooong trip so far, and we were TIRED! Plus, since Jake was at home, I was ready to go home and see him too. ♥️

I woke up at 7:00 AM to snag some Genie + reservations. I managed to grab a Genie + for Peter Pan’s Flight for the crew from 11:05-12:05, then I made Individual Lightning Lanes for Tron for Haley/Ryan and Mom/I. We were finally learning the art of staggering ILL reservations instead of using the VQ, so that we had more of a game plan in regards to watching the kids! Haley and Ryan’s Tron reservations were from 1-2, and Mom and I’s were from 3:25-4:25.

I went back to sleep until about 8:15 AM, then Mom and I got ready super quickly so we could help Haley and Ryan with the kids!

Had to take a selfie in my new Disney Lilly Pulitzer dress! I bought this online before our trip and it was SUCH a great purchase. It’s so comfortable and lightweight but still has a cute pattern and fit- perfect for the parks!

We were ready by about 8:50, so we decided to take the easy stroll over to Disney’s Riviera Resort to grab some breakfast for the crew.

I wasn’t super hungry at this point, so I just got another delicious Almond Cold Brew from Le Petit Cafe. :thumbsup2

Then, we headed down to Primo Piatto to grab some fruit, Mickey Waffles, bacon, and two Uncrustables for the kids to munch on. We got back to CBR at about 9:30 AM, and the twins were pretty much ready, so Mom and I gave them some breakfast as Haley and Ryan finished up!

Shiner update!

Big smiles for our last park day together!

Meanwhile, Cici and Kahla had decided to rope-drop Magic Kingdom this morning! Looks like they had a fun ride on Space Mountain. :cutie:

We caught a bus to MK at about 10:00 AM. Not gonna lie, it was a pretty chaotic bus ride. I think the twins were finally starting to feel the fatigue of the long trip, and Ollie in particular was being grouchy and whining about who he got to sit by. I have to say, this was pretty good foreshadowing on how they would behave in September. :scared:

We were entering the park by 10:20 AM, and so was Thomas/Mel/Chief!

We decided to meet them over in Fantasyland and take our time on Main Street. Had to get some PhotoPass pics of course!!

LOL- I love that the Photopass CM took this pic!! Can you say “Disney exhaustion??”

We were also right on time to watch the “Disney Adventure Friends Cavalcade!” The kids LOVED this; I believe we saw Miguel from Coco and Moana along with some other kinda random characters!

It was soooo sweet; right after the parade was done, Evie immediately started tearing up, saying “Want to meet them? Wait my turn? Not yet?” I think she was mentally preparing herself for being told “no, you can’t meet them right now.” Poor little love! We reassured her that she would get to meet some characters today, including the Big Cheese himself tonight at dinner!

Our group headed over to Fantasyland, where we met up with Cici/Kahla and Thomas/Mel/Chief! Thomas and Mel gave us a quick “hi” and headed off to Tron; they had entered the Virtual Queue this morning and their time was due!

The rest of us went ahead and used our Lightning Lane at Peter Pan’s Flight! After we got off PPF, we took a look in the gift shop at Philharmagic and hung around in the shaded area over there.

I managed to grab a Lightning Lane for Pirates of the Caribbean starting almost immediately! We spent a few more minutes in the shade and headed for Adventureland.

After we scanned into Pirates, I booked Haley, Ryan, Thomas, Mel, and Kahla a Lightning Lane for Space Mountain from 1:30-2:30. I figured that Haley/Ryan could use both their Tron Virtual Queue and Space Mountain LL back-to-back and get some kid-free time! Haley loves SM and I knew that it was a must-do for her today.

Once we got off Pirates, I believe we split up. Kahla, Cici, and Chief headed off (maybe to find some lunch)? Me, Mom, Haley, Ryan, and the kids were hungry too; and we decided to enjoy our food in the Tiki Room!

We grabbed some chips and fruit for the kids (they also had the Uncrustables that we had bought that morning at Primo Piatto), Haley and Ryan got some cheeseburger spring rolls, and Mom and I decided to try a new-to-us QS restaurant- Tortuga Tavern!

I feel like this place is always closed when I’m at WDW, but it was open today! I’ve seen the menu change over the years, and they seem to have a lot of unique options. I decided to get an order of Orange Chicken Strips and a grilled Peanut Butter, Nutella, and Banana Sandwich for Mom and I to share. This is one thing I love about the Tiki Room, you can bring food in to enjoy!

I was actually very excited to see this show; can you believe that I had not been to the Tiki Room since 2002???? I was only 8 years old!!

It’s funny though; I actually remember a lot from that trip, since I truly believe that it was on that trip that my love for WDW was officially sealed. We went all out, staying at the Polynesian for 9 days, and I remember literally living my best Disney life. I loved all of the thrill rides and was so much braver/more flexible than I was on my first trip. But, even at that age, I also had a soft spot for the dark rides and shows. The Tiki Room in particular left a big impression!

The show was adorable; even better than I remember!! It was so adorable; for months after the trip, when you asked Evie what her favorite part was, she answered “Eating Cheetos in the Tiki Room with Nana.” :lovestruc That girl LOOOOOVES her Nana!

Also, the food from Tortuga Tavern was GREAT!! It was a good combination of sweet and savory, and something different than what we usually eat in a theme park! Mom especially raved about the Orange Chicken Strips, they were super good and tasted kinda like Panda Express (which is a huge compliment in my book ). I wish that Tortuga Tavern was more often, because I feel like we’d get this combo a lot!

Feeling rejuvenated after the show, we split up once again. Haley and Ryan left for Tomorrowland to get on Tron and Space Mountain, and we met up with Cici and Chief in Adventureland. Kahla, Thomas, and Mel were off gallivanting in the park and doing some rides!

We found our solace again over at Philharmagic- we were so drawn to this area today since it was a nice open space with tons of shade! We all chilled for a little bit and went in and out of the stores. While we were in the gift shop, Evie picked up a Tinkerbell doll and wand, and carried them around for a few minutes. Tink is my absolute favorite Disney character, so I was immediately enamored that she was drawn to her. :) Plus, I realized that I hadn’t gotten the twins any souvenirs this trip, so I figured that this would be a perfect opportunity!

Since she already had her princess wand from Epcot a couple nights ago (and I knew that Mama and Dada were going to buy her a bubble wand later tonight), I gently steered her towards the doll. :goodvibes

She loved her!!

Evie still loves this Tinkerbell doll and sleeps with her at night sometimes, so it ended up being a great purchase! And I was happy to do my “Auntie spoiling” duties. :thumbsup2

We headed inside to watch Philharmagic, then afterwards, we did some more chilling underneath this shaded area. I think we all were tired from all the walking this week and more than happy to sit! This girl was being her drama queen self.

My mom got the kids a strawberry frozen lemonade cup to share, and they devoured it!! It was another hot one today!

While the twins were enjoying their treat, Haley, Ryan, Thomas, Mel, and Kahla were having a ball in Tomorrowland!

Kahla’s face in this picture is AMAZING. :rotfl:

They all made it back to Fantasyland by 2:05, which I feel like was pretty fast for doing two big-ticket rides! This is why ILL is superior to the VQ; it gets you through the line so much quicker!

Ryan was feeling peckish, so he got a turkey leg! Can you believe that I’ve never tried one of these before?? I feel like this is one of the most classic Disney snacks. I asked Ryan if I could steal a bite (and a selfie)!

It was actually very good; super salty, juicy, and tender. Wayyy exceeded my expectations! I definitely couldn’t finish a whole one, but it’s a perfect snack for sharing! I tend to consume way too many carbs when I’m on vacation, so this was a nice protein-heavy option.

Hi Molly! I’m glad you’re still working on this report - you’ve added so much since I was last here! I don’t remember when I last commented, so I may be doubling up a bit.

First, I loved reading about your Halloween adventure and your trip to California! How fun that you got another family trip last year - MNNSHP and your meals sounded like so much fun. Your trip with Jake also sounded fabulous - it’s too bad you had to cut your time on Catalina Island short, but I’m glad you could pivot and enjoy a little extra Disney time. I think my husband might enjoy Disneyland more than Disney World due to it’s more compact size - I appreciate hearing your tips!

Back to the grand family adventure…

I loved your synopsis of all three resorts. POFQ sounds so lovely - I’ve stayed at POR twice and really enjoyed it, but the smaller footprint would be awesome. I think I’ll wait until we’re stroller-free (the monorail and skyliner are so nice with strollers!) but I’d love to stay there someday. Caribbean Beach looks like fun but I share your thoughts regarding its size. The skyliner access is awesome, though!

As for AoA… spoiler: we have a last-minute (well, to me! ) trip booked for a Lion King suite for spring break! I’m going to add to my existing PTR soon, but I appreciated your thoughts about the resort. I think we’ll appreciate the space with all the extra kid gear and the skyliner access will be great. I also think the kids will love the theming!

I made notes on the F&G treats you enjoyed just in case they bring them back this year. In particular, that Mediterranean flatbread and PB&J soft serve are calling my name!

We agree that CRT was magical - our food was very good and the characters (also Merida in particular) were top-notch. We also had a mixed thoughts about Storybook Dining. I thought the food was good (I liked the appetizers and desserts, and also had the pork shank) but it took FOREVER as we waited an extra long time for Grumpy. I adored the former version of calm Artist Point and liked, but did not love, it’s replacement.

Your afternoon at Epcot with the Guardians mess sounded SO frustrating! It’s tough to be stuck with young kids while other folks enjoy attractions, especially with a hungry baby. I’m glad dinner turned the evening around. I’ve never been to San Angel Inn, but I was impressed your littles did so well with the dark restaurant. I especially appreciate your raves about the food!

Speaking of the kids, they did SO WELL, especially with all the late nights! What adorable troupers. You also did phenomenally well coordinating such a big group. That’s a lot of moving pieces to keep straight and many people to keep happy… A+, Molly!

What a fun MK day so far! Love Evie's Tinkerbell doll. So sweet! It reminded me of Jimmy and his love for Cinderella. He grabbed a Cindy doll just like that one while in his stroller at the Disney Store when he was about 18 months old. He was so sad when Rob tried to take it from him and put it back. "My 'ella. My 'ella." So of course we had to bring her home with us! She's still somewhere in his room--he wouldn't let me pack her up or put her away.

Rob is a huge turkey lover and yet totally despised the WDW turkey leg he got way back in 2006 on his first trip. I keep trying to convince him to give it another try, but he's like NO THANK YOU!

Ok, apparently I was out for Christmas break and then didn't get any notifications for your updates! So to my delight, I had lots of Molly recaps to catch up on! Of course, all of my notes revolve around food.

The sweet treats tasted sooo delicious, but immediately, I started to feel gross with all that sugar on an empty stomach. :crazy2: I needed some salt and real food! I put in a mobile order at Bengal Barbeque in Adventureland for a second breakfast.
I love that you said second breakfast. We actually did this exact thing with Jolly Holiday and Bengal. And then we went back to BB THREE times. Is that excessive? It didn't feel like it. It was worth every slightly embarrassing trip back to the counter!

Overall, Bengal Barbecue was one of our favorite QS spots in DLR.
Scarlett said it was her favorite memory of the whole California vacation. That is saying something!

e would definitely eat here again- I’ve heard great things about the gumbo too!
Jason and I shared a giant bowl of the gumbo and I don't even like gumbo but it was delicious!! He started to order a cup as a side and then he changed it to a bowl...and the waiter gave him a look like, are you sure!? When they brought out a huge pot of it, we all had a big laugh. But we ate it all!

Ugh, looking at the menu now, they have a brussels sprouts salad and cookie butter mousse dessert that looks delicious! Dang, I totally would have gotten those if they were on the menu in October!
I ordered the brussels sprouts salad and I didn't love it. So maybe you did ok! I think I was feeling the same thing you feel - just NEED GREEN food! And not of the Toy Story Alien kind.

These tacos are definitely worth the hype!! They were super rich, so we each had one and that was perfect for us.
I CANNOT WAIT to try them! This summer, they are calling my name. That and all the garlic breads. We missed those, too. Funny how you have lists of things you want to try but when the day comes you are either already full of cheese or sugar and it doesn't sound appetizing. But when you get home, you KICK YOURSELF for not trying it!

I think it will be a wonderful year of smaller travels that are less busy than Disney. You all have really started your marriage out with lots of big trips! And when you return, it will be that much sweeter. I grew up going to WDW, then got married and had the girls, and didn't go for about 13 years. I don't recommend THAT long of a break! But it was really neat to see how things change and have an appreciation for how things stay the same.

I will add - have you thought about a Disney cruise? That may be the perfect in-between of Disney hospitality and seeing other places! You may have done them before, I can't remember!

I also suggest national parks as a good travel palate cleanser! Remind me, do you all go to the beach often? I'm curious to hear your other travel thoughts! I recommend a little weekend in Leavenworth, Washington. I think I have told you that - but it would be so fun during Octoberfest or Christmas!

Overall, you are such a fun aunt and travel buddy. They are lucky to have you spend all the time, energy, stress, and money on these trips. Memories for a lifetime!

Hi Jenny!!! I'm reading along with your TR and I'm so excited to hear about your May trip PLUS your new girl's trip!! How exciting! I read your past TRs with Annika and I'm sure this will be an awesome sister bonding experience! :)

Sounds like we have a lot of the same experiences/opinions involving dining and resorts, which is always validating to hear  I was definitely bummed about Artist Point; this was probably in our Top 3 most anticipated meals, and it just didn't hit the mark for me! It was interesting though... last trip in September, Ryan was absolutely RAVING about this meal to Jake (who had to miss it due to leaving early). So it wasn't a bust for all of us!!

I really do think that the May trip helped us work out the kinks for riding "adult" rides... I feel like we were so much more efficient with Genie +/ LL, it was just hard in the moment when we were moving SO slowly on our May trip! :rotfl:

Thank you so much for the kind words :lovestruc I really do love the planning life, but I love hearing those affirmations too!! There were plenty of moments on the trip where I was like "Ugh, why do I care so much? Am I pushing too hard?". But it was all worth it (and you'll read later on) that everyone was super appreciative as well :goodvibes

OMG Jimmy!!!! I love his love for the princesses :) Oliver is a big princess guy too and absolutely loved our princess meals both trips just as much as Evie!!

HAHA! That's funny, because I don't really like Thanksgiving turkey, but I did like that turkey leg  Maybe it was all of the salt and grease:rotfl:

Hi Amber!!! So happy you're back :)

YES I remember reading about your Bengal BBQ adventures in your TR; that's part of the reason why I wanted to go there!! It was a wonderful "second breakfast" and definitely was a nice counterpart to all the sugar and carbs  Jake is also a garlic fiend and loved the Garlic Pretzel Bread from DL- I think they have a version of it over by the Matterhorn with a bratwurst inside!!

It'll be weird not traveling as much... but I know 100% that this is the smartest decision for us. We have been having some ongoing issues with our apartment and I think that this was the kick in the butt we needed to really buckle down and try to buy a house. Plus, we are still back and forth about kids and when we would have them... AHHHH adult decisions!!!

Luckily, we do have some small trips coming up that I think will be perfect little in-betweeners. Kahla's baby shower is in Nashville in March, so me, Haley, and my mom are going to do a little girl's weekend. Then, in May, Jake and I are going to visit Arizona with his parents, which I'm super excited for because 1. We're always traveling with my family, but never have traveled with his parents, and 2. I've never been to Arizona and it's always on my bucket list!! We're staying in Scottsdale and planning a day trip to Sedona, which I'm super excited for because my parents have always raved about it!! Then, we'll do little trips "Up North" to northern Wisconsin for 4th of July and Labor Day. My mom and sister have been hinting about maybe a WDW trip in November/December 2025 for MVMCP, but nothing is confirmed yet so I'm waiting with baited breath for that one!! :)

Never done a cruise and we loved our trip to RMNP in July; it was my first time at a National Park, but Jake's actually traveled out west somewhat frequently, so the idea of National Parks isn't as enticing for him. We are more of beach people, but I do love to hike! That's why a cruise is on our list for the near future; we just have to pull the trigger and try one! I'm worried about motion sickness, but it's just going to be one of those situations where I jump in the deep end and see how I do!!!

Day 10- Part 2 (The One Where Auntie Molly Is a Sucker, We Get Snubbed by Minnie Mouse, and Evie Learn a Lesson In Bladder Control!)

Where I last left off, we were chilling in Fantasyland, and the rest of the gang had just returned from Tomorrowland. Finally, the whole crew was together again! The Festival of Fantasy Parade was a must-do for us today, so I figured we had time for one more ride before it was time to scope out a spot. I made us a Genie + for It’s a Small World starting in 10 minutes, so we headed over there next!

Silly selfies!

After the ride, we headed towards Liberty Square to try to find a spot for FoF. We were getting pretty close (it was about 2:45), so it was slim pickings, but we eventually found a great spot over by the guillotine! I dashed off to Adventureland to find a snack to enjoy during the parade, and Chief decided to head to Hall of Presidents to escape the heat.

Haha, his selfie game is on point. :thumbsup2

I put in a mobile-order at Aloha Isle, and it was ready in record time! I was able to speed-walk back to Liberty Square and make it back to our spot at exactly 3:00, which I’m pretty impressed with even to this day. :rotfl:

I decided on an orange-vanilla swirl. It was perfect to enjoy during the hot parade!

I had a good feeling that the kids would enjoy the parade after seeing Evie’s strong reaction to the character cavalcade this morning. And I was right!!! Both kids were in character heaven. :goodvibes

Sweet girl! She LOVES Beauty and Beast.

On the edge of their strollers!

It was sooo funny; we were kind of nervous about Ollie being scared of the fire-breathing Maleficent at the end of the parade, since he got scared of the erupting volcano at Rainforest Cafe earlier in the week. When the dragon approached and got ready to breathe fire, I decided to scoop a spoonful of my Dole Whip and shove it in his mouth to distract him. It totally worked though! Next thing I knew, I had two toddlers trying to scavenge the rest of my soft serve.

After the parade, I made our group a Genie + reservation for Haunted Mansion from 4:30- 5:30; we wanted to get the twins on this ride at least one more time! Then, Mom and I split off to head towards Tomorrowland. Our ILL for Tron was just about due!

Nana was feeling some guilt about leaving the kids, but I implored her to NOT feel guilty. We had just spent the entire morning with them while everyone was coming and going; we deserved this time just us two!

I was having a hankering for something sweet, so we stopped in New Fantasyland to grab a cotton candy!

I feel like cotton candy is another snack that I only have in theme parks/Disney World. It just always tastes so sweet and satisfying when walking around in the heat!

When Mom and I rode Tron for the first time back in July 2023, she immediately stated that she loved it and that it was one of her favorites. However, three days later, she got to experience Cosmic Rewind, and needless to say… Tron fell to the wayside. She kept saying that Tron was way too short (which, to be fair, it totally is) and that she didn’t need to ride it again.

But, something told me that she’d like it better after she rode it again, so I gave myself the authority of booking us a LL. Plus, I really like this ride, and I wanted to ride it again with a riding buddy!

Mom requested that we take a PhotoPass shot out front to commemorate our solo time!

No ride photo of course (the automatically linked photos never work for me), but we were on and off super quick! And, I’m happy to say, Mom enjoyed this ride a lot and it increased in the ranks for her. :) She is right though, it needs to be at least 1 minute longer!!

I was starting to feel a little sleepy, the long trip was catching up to me! I found myself always searching for a caffeine boost around 4:00 or so during our park days. However, I was all sugared out after my cotton candy, so I wanted something simple. We stopped at the Joffrey’s outside of Space Mountain, and I decided on a Shakin’ Jamaican cold brew with caramel syrup and milk. I had heard Molly from Mammoth Club rave about this and call it a “Shakey Jamaicy” , so I felt like I had to jump on the bandwagon.

WOW! I am officially on the Shakey Jamaicy bandwagon! This was amazing!! I’m a fan of Starbucks Cold Brew at home (that’s usually my “healthy” coffee order), but I’d even go as far as to say this was better than Starbucks!!! It was super light and very sweet, not strong or bitter at all. I’ve always been a Joffrey’s fan; if I’m at WDW, there’s no way I’ll stand in line at Starbucks when Joffrey’s is right there with a shorter wait!

Mom and I figured that we’d spent enough time away from the group, and headed back towards Fantasyland. The crew was having some waffle sandwiches as a snack at Sleepy Hollow!

We took a bathroom break and made the short walk over to Haunted Mansion. We knew that this would be one of our last rides as a big group of 12, and Chief wanted to commemorate the occasion!

I swear, Ethan and Evie were with us too!

Had to send this picture of Mr. Toad to Jake!

I just realized that you guys have seen absolutely zero pictures of Ethan today. :guilty: Don’t worry, he was just being his sleepy and chill self!

Spooky vibes in the Stretching Room!

I had made another Genie + for Little Mermaid after scanning in at Haunted Mansion, so we rounded out the night with a ride on one of the kid’s favorites!

Ursula is one of Haley’s favorites! Ryan always tells this story… when Ryan first introduced her to his family way back in 2013, it was over their Christmas celebration, and they had a karaoke competition with the entire family. Talk about intimidating!!!! But, Haley definitely won them all over with her rendition of “Poor Unfortunate Souls!” :rotfl:

We had a dining reservation at Chef Mickey’s for 6:30 PM, so we headed towards Main Street U.S.A at 6:00. Thomas and Mel decided to opt out of dinner and stay in MK instead, so we bid them goodbye in Fantasyland and planned to meet up afterwards!

I was very pleased with our timing; there would be no lateness snafus like last night! We hopped a monorail and were pulling into the Contemporary at 6:18 PM- 10 minutes ahead of schedule!

I tried to look for the 5-legged goat, but couldn’t find him this time (Jake and I ended up spotting him on our September trip)!

I try to see the Contemporary once per trip. It’s one of those resorts that I enjoy visiting, but don’t necessarily ever need to stay there! I did stay in a Garden Wing room for one night back in 2020, and while the room was great and the beds were SUPER comfortable, I wasn’t really wowed by the resort itself.

Despite checking in right on time, we were told that the restaurant itself was experiencing about a 30-minute delay tonight. No worries- it gave us time to grab a drink! We decided to check out the Outer Rim bar and order some libations while we waited.

Look at this dude bellying it up to the bar!

I decided to order a Raspberry Mojito. During my wait, I browsed in Bay View Gifts. This is one of my absolute favorite gift shops on property; I always feel like they have the best merch in here and I love the bakery case!

In the store, I noticed this ADORABLE water bottle with Flower on it!! Remember the hat I tried on at WoD our very first night??

I was bound and determined to find another souvenir with this pattern on it, and this water bottle was perfect!

They had a deal going where this water bottle was only $15 with the purchase of another item. They didn’t specify which items you could choose from, so I went up front and asked the CM, “Can I get this water bottle for $15 if I just buy… like… a cookie?”

She looked around and was like, “Girl, 100% support that decision and it’ll be our little secret.” :rotfl: She was amazing!! So, I bought a pink Mickey sugar cookie to enjoy on the plane tomorrow, and I ended up scoring the water bottle for $15!!

I told my story when I came back to the table, and Haley immediately went to the store and did the exact same thing. :thumbsup2 She also uses that water bottle all the time at home; Oliver always calls it “Mama’s Skunk Water.” This is a super nice quality water bottle; I brought it on all of our hikes when we went to Colorado back in July, and it kept my water ice cold!!

After I made my purchases, I returned back to the table where my drink was waiting. It tasted great and went down super easily. I chugged it so quickly; I was parched after our big park day!

We were all feeling kind of bittersweet and sentimental since it was our last night. One last cheers!

It only took me like 10 minutes to get through my drink, and the alcohol was… HITTING. ::yes:: I got really tipsy, really fast. :scared: And for those who have read my Aulani TR… Drunk Molly = Disaster. The heat today combined with dehydration did not help- I needed some food to soak up that alcohol!

Luckily, we were called into dinner soon after. Coming up next- our “Last Supper” at Chef Mickey’s!

Nashville is fun! It is about 2 hours from me. I think it is the bachelorette/girls weekend capital of the US! You guys will have a blast. You will also love Sedona, it is so gorgeous! It feels like a National Park, but with lots of things to do and places to eat and shop. Yes, you have lots of little fun trips to be excited about! Add in a possible house hunt and babies, so much fun in your future. I hope you still post and share about it!

When the dragon approached and got ready to breathe fire, I decided to scoop a spoonful of my Dole Whip and shove it in his mouth to distract him. It totally worked though! Next thing I knew, I had two toddlers trying to scavenge the rest of my soft serve.

Sooo smart-what a fantastic Auntie you are!

She also uses that water bottle all the time at home; Oliver always calls it “Mama’s Skunk Water.”

Oh that is so cute!

Love your parade tip of giving him some Dole Whip :)
I also am glad you and your mom got some time away. So important.
Can't wait to hear how your last supper was- we love Chef Mickey's!

I 100% percent agree with your choice from Aloha Isle - I like the orange vanilla swirl much better than the regular dole whip. (I know - blasphemy! )

Hooray for Festival of Fantasy! I love that parade and we missed it last year. Given the twins’ reactions (they were on the edge of their seats!) I look forward to my girls’ seeing it! And A+, Auntie Molly, on your dragon distraction plan! :thumbsup2

I love that you got some time alone with your mom. I agree with her that TRON is not long enough (it was one of my least favorite new attractions we tried), but it is fun. Your group choice was excellent - I adore Haunted Mansion! I’m impressed how well you did with Genie+ considering the size of your group.

Hooray for a good inexpensive water bottle (and a bit of pixie dust)! The pattern is super cute.

Hey Molly,

I am trying to catch back up on your trip report! I finished the California part and need to go back and re-read your San Diego part now that we havea. trip planned.

Then, yesterday, my mom and I spent almost 6 hours baking and decorating cookies! We are total novices, but it was fun to try something new and spend some quality time together!
They look great!!!

Notice the tooth cookies in there? That’s what we get for having a dentist mom.
We have a camel cookie cutter for some reason. My sister took the traditional Camel when my mom passed. We have no idea why we have it. We also have cookie cutters for the states we all lived in one year.

Jake wanted a Mai-Tai, and the CM somehow persuaded him into ordering a PITCHER…
I won't judge.. It's vacation..

When we were in line for BTMRR, Jake made a confession; “I think I’m Disney-ed out.” And, I’m shocked to say; I actually AGREED with him!! We have done a LOT of Disney trips this year… and while we continue to love all things Disney, we were just a bit burnt out with having so many park-centric trips this year.
I am afraid we will be vacationed our on our California trip.

Jake and I also shared some (unpictured) hot honey chicken tenders and french fries from The Golden Horseshoe for a little dinner.
That sounds good!! Might need to put that on my list.

Din Tai Fung at Downtown Disney
Checking it out now! Looks good.

For a little breakfast, Jake grabbed some garlic pretzel bread from a cart near Sleeping Beauty Castle. He loved this; he was feeling something savory this morning and it hit the spot!

We tried to get this on our last trip and it was always closed when we went.

54213646830_0b021be5a3_c.jpg
I love the girls in the front.

I tend to not like the hand pies from here or Woody’s Lunch Box at WDW, but this one was actually pretty good and not too dry!
I agree. I don't get the pop tart craze.

You know it’s the end of your vacation when THIS is what you decide to eat at a buffe
So true!! I usually crave salad by the end of a trip.

It was sooooo funny; he was so excited because his score was being shown as “Best This Hour.” He was (jokingly) boasting and bragging about it, so I checked the time…

It still counts!!!!

I forgot you went to Catalina Island. I was thinking about doing a day trip there but everyone says it would be a really long day trip.

Yes!! I've been to Nashville once before for Kahla's wedding, so I'm excited to go back with my mom and sister (who weren't able to make it because Haley was on strict bedrest and super-pregnant with the twins!) I remember really liking a BBQ spot called Edley's and that they had the best banana pudding!

Jake is having a blast planning Arizona- he lived there for a couple months back in 2020, so he's the expert and I'm just along for the ride :)
Sooo smart-what a fantastic Auntie you are!

Oh that is so cute!
Hehehe thank you!! I don't share my treats often, but this time was totally worth it ;)
Love your parade tip of giving him some Dole Whip :)
I also am glad you and your mom got some time away. So important.
Can't wait to hear how your last supper was- we love Chef Mickey's!
I loved that my mom and I could sneak away- it was much needed and it really refreshed us to get on a "big kid" ride! We had done a lot of sitting and stalling that morning and I think it was getting to us!
I 100% percent agree with your choice from Aloha Isle - I like the orange vanilla swirl much better than the regular dole whip. (I know - blasphemy! )

YES!!! I am 100% with you- I don't like pineapple dole whip really :scared: I don't like the float with the pineapple juice either... it is way too acidic for me!

I'm so hoping you get to see the parade in a couple months!! Parades were one of the most unexpected loves for the kids; they adored the Boo to You parade as well in September and the parades are something they still talk about to this day!!! Wayyyyy more than any of the rides!!
Hey Molly,

I am trying to catch back up on your trip report! I finished the California part and need to go back and re-read your San Diego part now that we havea. trip planned.

I forgot you went to Catalina Island. I was thinking about doing a day trip there but everyone says it would be a really long day trip.

I hope you can get some tips for your California trip!! Despite some changes to the plan, we had a great time :)

Catalina Island was fun, but I don't think it's something you have to go out of your way for. It was absolutely gorgeous with amazing scenic views, but the town itself was your basic little beach town and it was VERY small. We definitely didn't need to spend the night; one day would be PLENTY!

I think it's smart to do San Diego instead- there's a lot more to do with the Gaslamp Quarter, the zoo, Sea World... etc! We went to San Diego back in 2012 for one of my mom's work conferences and LOVED it! The Hotel Coronado was a highlight- The Grand Floridian's architecture is based on that hotel and it's almost a direct copy (but the Hotel Coronado is the original)!

Day 10- Part 3 (The One Where Auntie Molly Is a Sucker, We Get Snubbed by Minnie Mouse, and Evie Learn a Lesson In Bladder Control!)

Finally, we got called in to Chef Mickey’s for dinner! We entered the restaurant at 6:55 PM.

Honestly, I was not sure what to expect AT ALL with this reservation. We knew that we wanted the kids to meet the Fab 5 at some point during the trip, and this seemed like the best option, especially for an MK day! I ate breakfast here back in August 2020 when it was family-style with limited offerings and no characters due to COVID restrictions. But, the last time I had eaten dinner here was OCTOBER 2002. To put it in perspective…

Haley and I looked like THIS. I was more than ready to try this again! I didn’t even have any idea what kind of food they served here… All I knew was that I was hungry and needed some nourishment to soak up the booze. ::yes::

We got all settled in at one big table, and ordered drinks. I ordered water of course! Our waitress was soooo sweet; she looked just like one of my best friends, Morgan, so I liked her immediately. She was a pro and handled our chaotic group very well!

Pretty soon, we all went up to the buffet and got our plates.

Here was my plate! Clockwise from the top: Corn Dog Nuggets with Honey Mustard, Asian Noodle Stir-Fry and Potstickers, Lasagna, Chicken Nuggets, Mashed Potatoes with Peppercorn Sauce, and Pepperoni Pizza. The literal definition of a “smorgasbord.” :rotfl:

I have to say… I was BLOWN AWAY by the options at Chef Mickey's. My expectations were completely blown out of the water! There was so much variety and all of the choices were so good! Sometimes, the food at buffets can be lukewarm or not very fresh, but all of these choices were super fresh and felt like they came right out of the oven! AND- the macaroni and cheese was hands-down the best I had during the trip (tied with Homecomin’!) Who knew??

I even got seconds of the mac and cheese. It was that tasty!

Fortunately, all of the carbs and meat did the trick, and my tipsiness wore off pretty quickly. Thank goodness! :rolleyes1

As we were eating, characters started stopping by! First was Pluto!

Then, Goofy came by to do some dancing!

Donald Duck and Mickey Mouse were gems as usual…

However, I have a major bone to pick with Minnie. She literally approached the twins, took both of their hands, turned them to Cici’s camera, and posed for a picture. And… that’s it. The kids were talking to her, touching her dress, trying to show her their toys, and she literally couldn’t be bothered.

She stood in this pose like a statue the entire time, took the 5 seconds to pose for a picture, didn’t even HUG the kids, then walked away!!!!!! We were all in shock honestly!!

I had heard about the “love and shove” from other reports on the DIS, but I feel like this was way worse than that!! Let me reiterate- SHE DIDN’T EVEN HUG THE TWINS!!!

giphy.gif

Luckily, the kids are so little that they didn’t really notice too much or care (they were just happy to see Minnie). But, I was upset for them! Looking back, I totally should have said something. This Minnie was just not in the zone tonight!

Seems like we all need some dessert!

I grabbed some vanilla-chocolate swirled soft serve, a rice krispie treat, a brownie, a chocolate chip cookie, and some warm apple cobbler. The apple cobbler paired with the ice cream was DELISH!

The kids enjoyed some cupcakes and ice cream!

But, they were getting a little punchy… there may have been some things being thrown in our waters.

Finally, a picture of Mr. Ethan!!!

He was his smiley and happy self while talking to Nana. :goodvibes

Chef Mickey’s for the win!!! It was the most perfect dinner to round out the trip. :thumbsup2 We were out of there by 8:45 PM (another almost 2 hour dinner). This was definitely the trip of looooong meals!

We took this priceless picture as we headed out! Can you say HOT MESS?? :rotfl: We all look so exhausted and disheveled!

I snapped a pic of Fantasia Market to send to Jake. Fantasia is his all-time favorite Disney movie, and he always says that there needs to be more representation of this movie in the parks!

We took a quick bathroom break before jumping on the monoral back to MK. Ollie was absolutely hilarious in the bathroom; he was acting like such a goon and was basically delirious. He kept saying in his raspy little voice; “MAGIC KINGDOM PARK. GO BACK TO MAGIC KINGDOM PARK. I WANT MAGIC KINGDOM PARK.”

Luckily, we were just a quick monorail away, and we were entering MAGIC KINGDOM PARK at 9:15 PM!

Day 10- Part 4 (The One Where Auntie Molly Is a Sucker, We Get Snubbed by Minnie Mouse, and Evie Learn a Lesson In Bladder Control!)

We were entering MK just in time, because Happily Ever After literally started as soon as we arrived!!

Oliver had quickly crashed after his loopiness and fallen asleep on the monorail, but Haley and Ryan really wanted him to see the fireworks, so they woke him up. He was definitely crabby though; maybe not the smartest decision!

Ethan loved his Nana snuggles. :lovestruc

Happy girl with her new Tink!

Despite Ollie not being 100% himself, it was a great way to round up the trip. It felt amazing to watch HEA from Main Street!! I was SO happy when they announced that HEA was coming back. I really disliked the 50th Anniversary show (Enchantment) and was so worried that it would replace HEA for good!

Selfie with Chief!

After the fireworks, I decided to grab a PhotoPass picture with Roy and Minnie!

Looks like Evie wanted one of her own too! :goodvibes

We knew that it wouldn’t be a good idea to head further into the park, since it was clear that the twins were getting tired! So, we decided to stay and do some shopping on Main Street USA!

Since I had bought Evie her Tink earlier today, it was only fair that Oliver got a new toy too!! I took him into the Emporium and let him loose.

He was fully awake after his cat nap, and all of the toys made him go CRAZY!! :thumbsup2 He ran to a shelf of stuffed animals, picked up a princess Minnie Mouse stuffy, and said “Oh, I love Minnie!” :cutie: He picked up a few other toys here and there, but carried her around for a while, so I decided that Minnie would be his prize! I was really happy to get him something that wasn’t Cars themed (I’m pretty sure that he has at least 20 Lightning Mcqueens at home ::yes::).

I always love these window displays at the Emporium!

I used the mobile check-out for this (the line was absolutely bonkers) and it was a very smooth and painless process. Oliver totally ran out onto Main Street with Minnie before I was finished paying though, and I had to chase after him to grab it!! :scared:

We had a great time just chilling on Main Street. We wandered over to Center Street, and Haley bought both twins their own Little Mermaid bubble wand!

These became quick hits, the kids absolutely LOVED them! These are pretty expensive, but totally worth it to us because it kept the kids so entertained! We bought them new wands on our September trip as well!

Haley realized that she hadn’t really gotten any pictures with just Ethan on this trip, and he was awake and alert! So, they grabbed some ADORABLE PhotoPass shots!

Hahaha, “It’s the Ciiiiiircle of Liiiiiife!” :rotfl:

We were all just chilling on Main Street, watching the kids play and enjoying the atmosphere. It was so magical. All of a sudden, Cici appeared and presented me with a $150 Disney gift card to thank me for planning the trip. :lovestruc

This was sooooooo sweet; I was so touched that she thought of me!!! The planning process is so fun for me and I was so happy to do it, but it also felt amazing to be so appreciated!!! I kept some souvenirs in mind to buy tomorrow before we left.

Pretty soon, we figured that we should head out. We had hung out on Main Street and prolonged the sadness enough!

We headed towards the bus stops and figured we would get onto whatever bus came first; Riviera or CBR. A Riviera bus was just pulling in as we walked up, so we ran and made it on!

And… as soon as we sat down on the bus… Evie said the 5 dreaded words…

“I need to go potty.”

:scared1:

Immediately, all of us dissolved into panic. :rotfl: Haley and Ryan had made the heroic effort to potty train both twins back in January when they were just 2.5, and ironically, the week they started potty training was also the week that Ethan was born (2 weeks early)!! They caught onto it exceptionally well, and so far this trip, we had NO accidents with undies 100% of the time! But, this would be the moment that would be tested. ::yes:: We encouraged Evie to sit still and try to hold it until we got back to the hotel…

Well, we were pulling into the Riviera about 20 minutes later, and Evie was STILL DRY! So, we raced into the lobby and ran through the hallways trying to find a bathroom!

We ran into a CM in the hallway, and she directed us towards a bathroom. I recognized her right away; it was a sweet CM named Randi who assisted in our Yosemite Suite upgrade at WL back in 2023 and also gifted my Mom and I Genie + for the day when we went downstairs to thank her!! So, I took a 2-second detour to say hi and thank her again for a magical stay! She was the sweetest as always. :)

I’m happy to report that Evie made it to the bathroom with no accident!! We were sooo proud of her and made sure to give her lots of praise. :goodvibes

* Side Story*

On our WDW trip back in September 2024, we weren’t so lucky. :scared: The exact same situation happened on a bus from Epcot back to AKL, and Evie ended up literally peeing her pants while running into the Jambo House lobby. We blamed it on the giant glass of chocolate milk she chugged at Akershus.

She was so ashamed, she immediately started sobbing and shouting to everyone who walked by, “I WENT PEE-PEE ON THE FLOOOOR!” :rotfl:

The CMs at AKL were so incredibly nice and said they’d take care of it. We got her calmed down and back in the room, then Jake and I grabbed our mugs to get some hot chocolate. We took the elevator back down the lobby, stepped outside, and we were like, “No way… this can’t be all for her…”

Oh yep, it was. :rotfl: OMG we couldn’t stop laughing. A CM gave us a funny look when I took a picture of this, and we were like “Oh yeah, we know what happened. That was our niece’s doing.” All of the CM’s all immediately started cracking up, they said, “That picture is definitely one for the photo album!!!” :rotfl2:

Believe it or not, even though it was one of our more chaotic moments, it ends up being all of our favorite memory from the trip.

OK- Back to May 2024!

After our close call, we took our time walking back to CBR and took some pics around the lovely Riviera Resort.

It was another late night; we didn’t end up getting back until almost 11:30!! We quickly got the kids ready for bed and we hit the hay at 12:30. The rest of the crew was going to sleep in and just hang by the pool for our last day tomorrow… but Auntie Molly had some other plans. :scratchin Stay tuned!
.

Haha I think you guys look great in your Chef Mickey picture but the kids looked DONE. I couldn’t believe you went back to MK and they totally rallied. Troopers! Ethan is like the happiest baby I think I’ve ever seen. That sucks about Minnie blowing you guys off at dinner. Rude!

Minnie how rude! I love that you shared the pee pee story and all the towels hilarious 🤣
It looks like a really wonderful last evening.
The photo at Chef Mickey is a true end of vacation picture :rotfl:
