Let's plan Together! Jan 2009

Free Dining is usually only a September thing. However, traditionally there have been package discounts in January. Last year the discount was Free Park Hopper, Water Parks & More Upgrade with a small room discount. (I think people were reporting about 15%, I may be wrong). The PH, WP&More is almost a $100 value/person if you plan on utilizing those extras.

Awesome! That sounds like a great deal too... if even just the 15% discount is the case that would be an AWESOME savings... I hope it last till February... looks like no one in my party wants to be there durring the superbowl... *sigh* I had to bumb the dates to Feb 2nd to Feb 13th... oh well ^_^ prolly a little warmer anyway.

lets see... $100 per person = $600 savings
plus and aprox. 4917 with 15% off = $737 in savings!

So.. Tickets w/ PH/WP/more and 3 rooms at the CBR could be around...
$5,530

That seems do-able! Now I just need to factor in the DlxDDP and tip and extras and we will be good to go!

We're trying for Jan1 - Jan 9 at PO Riverside..anyone know when the gingerbread houses will be taken down at the resorts, I imagine we'll be way too late to see any of those but may be able to catch Osborns Lights. DH hates crowds so he's not up to being there for the holiday week.

Also can I book now and be eligible to get any offers they may have for this week if they announce them?

First of all I think they leave all the Christmas decorations up until New Year's, at least in the parks. However, the resorts might be a different story.

As for offers, yes you can book now and make changes later. But, the discounts offered are usually for specific room categories and resorts, so if you book now the offer may not be available for the room you've already booked. I think technically you make a different reservation. There may not be availability at POR with the given deal for your dates, so if you wish to apply the discount you have to be flexible. There's no guarantee that you'll be able to get a discount on the exact room that you originally reserved.

and I remember the decorations stayed up until around Marathon weekend (/13). I remember we went on the cruise the weekend of the marathon, and when we came back they were coming down or already gone. Hope this helps.

I am excited I decided last weekend that I am going to take my DH for his birthday. Best part is that he doesn't know. It will be our first vacation just the two of us with no family. YAY:cool1: we will be staying at POP Jan 8th-11th it is a short trip but he will be excited. i am not sure if i want to got with a package or buy everything seperatly.

Hi everyone, I'm a little sad to say we will only be spending 2 days at WDW this coming Jan. We've decided to change our annual trip from Disney to a cruise this year, but I've convinced hubby to add on 2 more days "since we're sooo close". We'll be there Jan 22-23. Hoping for P&PP then!

Well- First step taken! I booked air fare with Jet Blue for Jan 13-20. Good dates?? We want to reserve the Pop but do I have to wait for the new rates? Also last year we got a room discount and free park hopper code taht I applied later, will this happen again?

Just booked our airline tickets for January 2-9. So excited as it will be my DBF's first trip. Now just waiting for those room rates to come out.....

Last year, with the small room discount and the free ticket upgrade in January, was it still possible to get the DDP?

TIA!

We wish it was free;) , but yes you can still get the Dining Plan (we did last January with the ticket upgrades etc.).

We have our room-only booked at ASMovies. I'm toying with the idea of switching it to a package when they are released, so that we can get the ticket upgrades if they are offered again.

Counting down the days until I can make our ADRs! I think I have 8 more days..

We are thinking about a short trip in January so DH can do the marathon, but it's all making me nervous with so many unknown variables. I'm nervous about what deals will be available and what we can afford, and I'm nervous about taking DD out of school (she'll be in kinder). But I'm hoping her teacher will be sympathetic to having the family together for dad's first marathon! Oh, and with DH involved in marathon activities, I'll have the kids on my own for portions of the trip. Yikes! But, I think once we start laying out plans, it will be yet another memorable trip!

We will be there Jan 1 - 12th. We were there this year Jan/Feb, and loved it. Haven't decided where we are going to stay yet. I'm hoping that Disney will still offer the dining plan for AP holders. :scratchin

any ideas when the rates will be out?

We're going to Disney for the first ever for any of us. We've already made reservations at the Wilderness Lodge Jan 1-7. I was able to make our ADR's early because we're staying at club level (comes with the deluxe room apparently.)

We haven't bought our park tickets yet but are planning on getting the Magic Your Way w/parkhopper and the dining plan. I keep checking the website to see if the packages are available yet. I would love to find out the park schedules and EMH's too!

My d (19) and I want to go from Jan. 4 - 11, and would love to stay at Caribbean Beach or Coronado Springs. Am I risking it by waiting until the rack rates come out?

If I book now and pay the deposit, do I get it back (not adjusted) if I have to cancel the reservation?

Thanks!

I am glad to see that there are so many others out there planning their Disney trip for January/February. We are planning our first family trip for Jan 31 - Feb 7 :yay: !
