Listen guys,

It is really hard to word this one because this could be interpreted the wrong way. I'll give it a go.

After the latest resort offering from DVC I am not exactly filled with confidence. The "think tank" at DVC needs a little help. I'd hate to see the next DVC Resort become Disney's Kalamazoo, Michigan or Disney's Boise, Idaho.

Anywhoooo, lets start by assuming they will at some point build a DVC Resort that is not connected to a deluxe hotel. Lets come up with some really good ideas that will help them out. Lets go for something with a broad appeal.

Thanks for all of thoughts here. Nothing is out of play and remember they are listening.

A colonial theme. It could even be a large resort, and have an entire colonial village. This could be VERY nice if done to full potential.

Like Liberty Tree Tavern, American Adventure, etc... :smokin:

An interesting idea. I see it as a Magic Kingdom resort:

Contemporary = Tomorrowland
Grand Floridian = Main Street USA
Polynesian = Adventureland
Wilderness Lodge = Frontierland
??? = Liberty Square

That's a very good question. They've used so many themes already.

How about a ski resort theme to go along with Blizzard Beach?

:cold: Since they are lowering the temps of the pools an Artic theme would be appropriate :cold: – kinda like Blizzard Beach – but it not only would look cold – it would BE cold! You could have even have penguins! (they have them at the Hilton on Waikiki) Imagine it – the units could look like Igloos – they would save a fortune on landscaping! :rotfl2:

Some sort of Australia/New Zealand theme. Shrimps on the barbie, Koala bears, outback etc. Possibly a theme pool with a surf theme. I would think it would play well near Animal Kingdom, where I hear they have some possible DVC space.

A non kid dvc resort.

as time goes on the original owners of dvc will be empty nesters. granted some trips will be with grand children, but some won't.

a TRUE UP SCALE adult DVC, no guest under 18/21 on site........

make the point totals higher, make the quality and service OVER THE TOP.

You wouldn't need a "theme", other then upscale quality.

Build it and they will come.......................... and spend a boatboatboat load of cash.

As I've mentioned on other threads - My fantasy resort would be OKW size villas at a resort with Typhoon Lagoon type water park and pool theming. Each of the villas would have a private patio large enough for an outdoor gas grill, table and deck chairs. Required would be a private cabana located near the villa dedicated to our use only, offering features such as steps leading directly into a Castaway Creek type lazy river.

This type of resort lends itself well to the palm trees and tropical feel we look for when we travel to Florida. We seldom go to the theme parks anymore but do want to spend as much time outside as we can. I think this resort theme would be perfect FOR US. Additional features of my fantasy resort would include a dedicated jogging and bicycle trail winding through the resort possibly leading to other nearby resorts as well.

If this resort was built - it would be good bye OKW hello (TLV) Typhoon Lagoon Villas.

With stage coaches and saloon girls, wooden walk ways and if anyone said anything about your resort, just say step outside this resort isnt big enough for the both of us. :rotfl2:

I know.....tell em' to do an egypt theme with pyramids and temples and all that stuff. Maybe they could include the other parts of africa and put the "Nile" running all the way through the resort

Just curious, but did you ever see the movie West World?
At least I think that was the name of it.

Very cool if that could ever happen, but still a bit futuristic... :smokin:

they want you IN THE PARK.......

Magic Express, Disney Dine plan, SSR............ everything WDW is doing is geared towards getting you from your plane, and in the park as soon as possible so you can buy park tickets and 3 dollar bottle of water.

I fear long gone are the days of building DVC's in such a fashion that people want to spend the day just hanging out..........

Great ideas guys. I like the boatboatboat load a cash for the adult only resort and the Australian outback thing. How about a Venice, Italy theme? Paris, France? A lot you could do with those, Gondola rides, Italian artwork, Eiffel Tower, Louvre, sidewalk cafes ( Hey, maybe even some poolside dining) Both would work great as an adult only place. It isn't so crazy either, they have adult only things on Disney Cruise line. Keep em coming. :thumbsup2

Along those lines (which I think is a great idea), they might want to consider the Swiss/German mountains-sort of like the Alps.

I like the idea of different countries or cities such as Paris, Venice, London; something like EPCOT where each of the buildings or sections is a different city and the foodcourt offering one counter for each.

THIS is SO TRUE!! My Dh and I would love this!! $$$$$would be SPENT!! Joan

I like the colonial theme and the outback theme.
DS offers an aquarium theme and an outer space theme.
The only other one I can come up with is an mythology theme (Greek, Roman, and Nors).

I'd like Asian - probably Japanese, but Chinese would be nice as well.
