We want enough points to spent 8 weeks at DVC. We will leave New York each year after New Years and spend the cold northern winters of JAN and FEB in sunny Florida every year. My wife and I are both medical proffesionals so we will work in the first aide stations.

My wife and I have talked about this one already.. I'm going to be the guy in front of the stage of "Playhouse Disney", and my wife isn't quite sure yet of what she'll do.

I'll be there in about 17 years are so...

A condo in Celebration would be wonderful, in addition to maintaining our existing home in Illinois (summers here, for the most part).

We have family who own a condo in Celebration. The area is like something out of a movie or storybook. It is just beautiful...however...on top of the hefty mortgage, they pay over $800/mo. in condo fees! OUCH! If you can swing it, god bless you. If not, Celebration is a great place to visit.

My retirement plan is a 10 year plan and started 3 years ago which means I have 7 years left to make it reality...buy a condo on Florida's gulf coast(preferrably) to spend January through mid April in and use our DVC while in Florida. Open a B&B in the Azores run it from May thru October. Spend November thru Christmas/New Years with family in Rhode Island.

So far we are on track. We'll see how things go.

I want to work up and have 2000 points. Use points for travel and stays at DVC properties. I have 25 years for retirement. I will make 90% of my highest year income. Since social security didn't come out of my paychecks. I did pay enough points or whatever is required to get some when I do turn the proper age though.

We already own an RV, we get a new one every 5-7 years. It's worth the peace of mind. I may see myself keeping the current one for a 10 or more however.

I won't work once Im retired. Unless I work private protection. Im in law enforcement now. I would have to get my old hourly to do anything really. I wont have social security to pay me for another 10-15 years after the retirement. I plan to retire at 52 years of age. It could be a lot sooner when I win the lottery. JW

DW and I both retired just a few months ago at an early age (50 for me and 47 for DW).

Wintering at OKW has been in our retirement plan since 1995 when we purchased our first master contract. We've purchased several add-ons as well as resales since then bringing us to our current ownership of 1675 points, all at OKW. With these we can stay in a one bedroom villa for 9 weeks, from mid December through mid February. Our goal is to eventually own 3000 points which will allow us to stay for the months of November, December, January and February. For this long a stay we'll drive rather than fly and may very well decide to stay a week at HH on the way to WDW then again for another week on the way back home.

Looking forward I believe our first extended stay will be mid December 2010 through mid February 2011. The gap between our retirement date and the expected start of our extended stays is to allow us the time necessary to build our dream house in the lakes region of New Hampshire.

Joking with DW I asked if we should look into directing our long term care benefits directly to DVC to pay for our annual dues?

I've been telling the kids for years my plan is to be a monorail driver when I retire. I don't think they believe me, but I'm quite serious. I can't see myself not doing something and I will be quite ready to stop having a high stress career at that point.

Amen brother. I too was thinking seriously about a mindless job at Disney when I retire. I have a pretty stressful job right now so I'm looking forward to something mindless and repetitive. I thought driving one of the Friendship boats in the Epcot area would be fun.
