Let's get organized! Organizing Task #2!

OK, I know we aren't done getting rid of junk yet, but lets start the next challenge for those that are ready to move on.

It's time to clean out the medicine cabinet and makeup drawers. Get rid of expired medicines, perscriptions you haven't used in 6 months, makeup that you never use or that is older than 6 months, anything that smells "off," (gross) or is otherwise unusable.

I have a pile ready to go to goodwill (will get there by the 20th). is there a time frame on when we need to get this done?

Already did that. I'm a little OCD when it comes to expired meds. And the mess the kids make in the vanity drawer.

The plie of goodwill stuff is however still sitting in my loft. It's either been a holiday, to cold, or snowing. Right now I have enough snow it will probably still be here in August. :headache:
DH did how ever get the storm door up that's only been sitting in the garage for 2 years. So at least that's out of my way.
 
I've already cleaned out my bathroom of all the old stuff too.
 
A week is fine with me! I just need to get my 50 things out of the house...I did go through some boxes today and added more knick knack and clothes to get rid of. I bet I have at least 100 items to take. *I just moved so have boxes to go through...did not get to everything before moving which I wish I did. Oh well.
 
That was next on my list! I am in major need of a medicine reorg. Just not sure how I want to do it.

I need to get my basket of stuff listed on Freecycle. With the weather we have been having I wanted to wait until I know people could come and get it.

Oh no...you're hitting below the belt on this one. You went straight to the worst drawers in my house. I'm scared of this one...but I will try as they truly need to be done.

Anyone see Oprah today. I never get to watch it, and I saw a few minutes where they were decluttering & cleaning! I loved the ideas. I wish I had a larger laundry room!!!

The big thing was to keep surfaces clear and don't let clutter pile up (counters, tables, floors) :)

Oh, this is timely! My sister sells Arbonne Skincare and I've asked her to order me the whole regime - which means that I have to get rid of all the old cosmetics! All those Estee Lauder and Clinique "give-aways" have to go! I have so much old stuff that I really shouldn't use. I figure if I spend as much $$$ that Arbonne costs, I should use it exclusively.

ha-ha - I found some Head & Shoulders shampoo in the spare bathroom. Neither DH & I have ever used H&S, which means it was left here by one of our sons - neither have lived here for at least 6 years!ewwww....old shampoo!

:laughing:Have you worked on it yet? I threw away 8 old nail polish bottles that were both ugly AND unusable. I also got rid of some prescriptions form 2008.:sick:
 
Didnt start any medicine cabinets yet, those arent too bad. My DH keeps on top of them.

But I did get rid of a ton of things in my closet and drawers!! Lots of clothes I was holding onto but never wear, shoes, stuff I didnt know I had! Toys the kids obviously did not miss that were thrown in my closet! (kept the little pet shop toy my DD has been searching for and we found on the floor of my closet!)

Only problem with all of this...while I am doing this clean out, my DS3 is destroying his room! He is quiet, but has every toy and blanket out all over. Now I remember why I dont go through things! Any advice on this issue???

No, I admit, I haven't yet. We've had weekend guests and I haven't had a moment to do much of anything. Then again, I really should just start on one drawer when I feel the need to get away from the chaos in here this weekend.

I really need to do this task. It is way overdue in this house.
 
I hit 50 things on the second snow day last week. I've finally downloaded the picture:

6 gloves/mittens with no mates
2 small cloth bags
